WHAT IS A VETERAN?

1. a person who has had a long experience in a particular ﬁeld.
• a person who has served in the military: 
“a veteran of two world wars”

WHAT IS A VETERAN?
A veteran is deﬁned by federal law, moral code and military service as "Any,
Any, Any"... A military veteran is Any person who served for
Any length of time in Any military service branch.
WHAT IS A WAR VETERAN?
A war veteran is any GI (Government Issue) ordered to foreign soil or waters
to participate in direct or support activity against an enemy.
The operant condition: Any GI sent in harm's way.
WHAT IS A COMBAT VETERAN?
A combat veteran is any GI who experiences any level of hostility for any
duration resulting from offensive, defensive or friendly ﬁre military action
involving a real or perceived enemy in any foreign theater.

VETERAN'S DAY
Every year on November 11, cities and towns across America celebrate
VETERAN’S DAY, a special day honoring all military veterans.
Cities and towns celebrate with parades, banners and ﬂags.
VETERANS typically wear their uniforms to their churches on
the Sunday closest to VETERAN’S DAY.
Families and other groups have special gatherings to celebrate the holiday.
These celebrations often include a moment of silence,
usually a full minute, to honor VETERANS who have died.

YES…EVEN BEFORE MANY OF US WERE BORN INTO THIS WORLD

IN THOSE YEARS WHEN THE STORM CLOUDS OF WAR WERE
SEEN BREWING ON THE HORIZON OF HISTORY

MANY TIMES OUR VETERANS WOULD CAST AN EYE ASHORE
AND SEE THEIR FAMILIES STANDING THERE
NEEDING THEIR GUIDANCE AND HELP
NEEDING THAT HAND TO HOLD DURING THOSE HARD TIMES
BUT OUR VETERANS STILL STOOD THE WATCH

OUR VETERANS HAVE BEEN STANDING THE WATCH FOR HUNDREDS OF YEARS
OUR VETERANS STOOD THE WATCH SO THAT WE, OUR FAMILIES AND
OUR FELLOW FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS COULD SLEEP SOUNDLY IN SAFETY,
EACH AND EVERY NIGHT KNOWING THAT

TODAY WE ARE HERE TO SAY
‘TO OUR VETERANS, THANK YOU.
RELIEVED BY THOSE YOU
HAVE TRAINED ,GUIDED, AND LEAD
MY DEAR VETERAN, YOU STAND RELIEVED.

AS THE NAVY WOULD SAY:
“BOATSWAIN..STANDBY TO PIPE THE SIDE.
A NEW VETERAN IS GOING ASHORE.”
