According to Cheremisinoff and Haddadin (2006), EMS is a system that being planned and
implement by organizations to manage the way to interact with the natural environment. EMS did
not intend to focus on the emission or effluent waste, but its focus on the production processes and
general management system that cause wastes and pollution.
EMSs have three basic standards which included British Standard 7750 (BS 7750), European's Eco–
Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) and ISO 14000 whereby BS 7750 is referred as the first
EMS that published in 1992, finalized in 1996 and as the basis for the other two standards
(Cheremisinoff & Haddadin, 2006). EMAS is the European Union's EMS standard that first
introduced in July 1993 with the objective of "promote a harmonious and balanced of develop
economic activities by having the commitment from organization and continuously improve their
environmental performance" (European Commision, March 4, 2015). Lastly, ISO 14000 was
published around 1996 and formed up the standard that focus on environmental management
established by International Standards Organizations after the success of developing quality
management ISO 9000.
Deming cycle or Plan–Do–Check–Act (PDCA) cycle was the base model for EMS in promoting the
concept of continuous improvement. An environmental policy will be formulated to declare a

Integrated PQP QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM IN CONSTRUCTION ISO 8402, the
vocabulary of quality defined quality management as "all activities of the overall management
function that determine the quality policy, objectives and responsibilities, and implement them by
means such as quality planning, quality control, quality assurance and quality improvement, within
the quality system". Meanwhile, the definition of quality system according to ISO 8402 is "the
organizational structure, responsibilities, procedures and resources needed to implement quality
management". Combining the definitions of 'quality system' and 'quality management' thus
concludes that QMS is the interaction of people, processes and documentation to meet both
customers' stated and implied needs. The result would be a reduction in inefficiencies and waste,

The first set of standards was published in 1987, and the first revision appeared in 1994. And now
the latest updated version in 2000. These new standards are referred to as the "ISO 9000 2000
Standards". ISO 9000 currently includes three quality standards: ISO 9000:2000 (fundamentals and
vocabulary), ISO 9001:2000 (requirements), and ISO 9004:2000 (guidelines).
When you compare ISO 9001:1994 and ISO 9001:2000 you'll notice a lot of different changes that

Hence in this report, an in depth look towards environmental sustainability would be made,
examples of what competitors have done to address this issue and how assumed company Square

the foundation of the findings.
