Installation Method of a Ductless Air Conditioner
buzbusiness.com/installation-method-of-a-ductless-air-conditioner
Have you heard about the new ductless air conditioners? It is another name for the mini-
split AC system. So why is the latest version better than the traditional duct systems? It
will provide you with a sound-proof, quiet, and highly comfortable environment enabling
you to relax. While there are numerous benefits of the revolutionary ductless unit, the
main question is how to install it? You may have to get an expert’s help, but it’s always a
good idea to understand the installation method of a ductless air conditioner.
If you want to get a mini-split installed in your home or building, you must read this. Why
are the ductless systems called mini-splits? The reason is that the equipment used to
power them is positioned inside and outside the building. These units are ductless
because the indoor air handlers are tiny and can be fixed on the ceiling or wall. Contact
any air duct sanitizing in Canton or in your town for more comprehensive details.
How Does the System Function?
The mini-splits are usually positioned outside, close to the room, or in the area that is
being conditioned. Also, the refrigerant lines travel inside towards a tiny, compressed air
handler dipped on the ceiling, wall, or floor mounted. Besides, these systems are much
more efficient, quiet, and potent. A single unit can condition several rooms.
What are the Benefits?
If you wish to install a ductless air conditioner, you can enjoy ample benefits, mainly
if you live in an old dwelling.

Easy to Install
Due to their petite size, these systems are pretty easy to install. Several models offer solid
outdoor units that can power up to four indoor units. So, you can save money and space!
Flexible Design
Mini-splits do not require any significant revamps. These units are tiny, low-profile, and
convenient to install.
Save Energy
If you choose to go ductless, you will not experience any energy losses usually associated
with dripping ducts. Also, every mini-split system has its thermostat so that you can save
a lot of energy.
Peaceful Environments
Your HVAC unit’s noise can disturb your peace when you want to relax after a tiring day.
So, mini-splits are the ideal option for this problem.
Enhanced Security
Window-mounted HVAC units can be a convenient entrance for trespassers. While mini-
splits require a three-inches hole intervention, they cannot become an entrance for
intruders.
How to Install?
Installing a ductless HVAC system is a step-by-step process:
Step 1: Fix the Mounting Bracket
Fix the evaporator within the room on the exterior wall far away from direct
sunlight, door passage, and any dust source.
Ensure the wall region is clear of any wirings, tubes, or ducts as it would obstruct
creating a hole for the line-set.
Spot the stud positions and secure the bracket using screws.
Step 2: Make a Pilot Hole
The line-set hole should slant somewhat downwards to the exterior, allowing the
evaporator’s condensate to drain away.
Start by drilling a pilot hole from inside of the building to outside.
Then check from outside to ensure that no trim or obstacle hinders the drilling of
the full-size hole.
Step 3: Make Full-Size Hole
3. 3/4
Use a saw to make the hole from inside of the building. Shift aside any insulation,
and examine the wall cavity for any obstacles.
Then, complete the hole-making process by drilling it from the outside.
Step 4: Track the Line set
Carefully uncoil the line set from the backside of the HVAC evaporator.
Get help by keeping assistance outside and nurse the line-set via the hole.
As it appears, the assistant needs to gradually flex the line-set downwards and
sideways as required to access the condenser.
Surround the line-set end with the rigid plastic collar. Make sure it is the point that
connects to the condenser.
The drain line is squatter and moves through last, beneath the other lines.
Add the drain extensions and cover the joint using electrical tape for better safety.
Step 5: Installing the Evaporator
Cover the foam jacket around the line-set section (within the hole) and substitute
any insulation of the affected wall cavity.
Then droop the HVAC evaporator on the rising bracket. (Tip: As your assistant to
feed an extra length of line-set (a few more inches) outside as you perform this
step)On the external side, insert the two-piece plastic trim into the hole to avoid any
rough edges injuring the line-set.
Step 6: Installing the Condenser
Fix the condenser on a pad on the floor or mount it on the wall allowing easy access
to refrigerant lines.
Then, track the line-set allowing it to remain tight to the outer side of the building,
and do not jump any obstacles. It facilitates the installation of the cover.
Also, make sure your condenser has endorsed clearance from walls and scrublands.
Never place it near the ice or snow, as it may destroy it.
To maximize cooling efficiency, you should place it on the east or north side of the
structure.
Step 7: Attach the Refrigerant Lines
This step varies for every manufacturer. Generally, in most HVAC units, the
fastening lever presses the line connection together.
So, before you power up, examine the refrigerant lines for twists and check the
electrical connections.
Then go inside to set the temperature with the help of a handheld controller.
Also, you should be mindful of the average life of a ductless air conditioner and how
you can outspend it.
Step 8: Wrap the Line-set
4. 4/4
Insulate and cap the hole in the external wall, then shield the line-set with the help
of plastic or metal pieces.
Next, position the back half of the channel behind the line-set, align it, and anchor it
to the wall using screws.
Step 9: How does it Work?
A ductless system features two major components.
Indoor evaporator for cooling the air
The outdoor condenser that dispels heat
These are linked through a line-set. And the pipe that travels through the wall and
carries the warm refrigerant outside and cool refrigerant inside.
So, if you want to enjoy a pollutant-free and healthy environment, you must also install a
UV light Cantonin your mini-split system.
