Andy Morilak- Educational Technology – Kent State
                                       University
Why do we go to school?
 Schools are irreplaceable
  establishments of learning, education
being the gateway to the future.
 We must learn to not only better our own
future, but the future of humankind.
Tools of the teacher
 Communication skills – Help students to not only understand
you, but make them WANT to understand and listen.
 Gentle disposition – Teachers need to be a friend to students
    as well as an instructor.
 Teamwork – Teachers should work together for the good of
not only one’s own class, but the entire student body.
 The mind – You will never stop learning new things. Keep
    your mind open to knowledge.
How do we make education
worthwhile?
 Put the student first. Their knowledge is our responsibility.
Do not take any “shortcuts” in teaching lessons.
 Get family/guardians involved. Connecting students’ families
to their child’s learning is very important. Work with families
    in whatever possible/desired ways.
 Keep students’ learning is secure, clear, and unthreatened.
For whatever reason, no one should have to learn in a harsh
or distracting environment. Knowledge is precious and must
    be kept safe.
Our goal to teach properly
 Prepare our pupils for what lies ahead in the next
grade/stage of life. We can only teach so much to one
group of people at a time. Make the most of it.
 Discuss with other teachers how to make the educational
environment better. Things change all the time and we
must do what we can to make this change good.
 Learn more. Lessons are not only meant for the students.
Our job is to take what we know and portray it. The fact
we can learn so much more about a wide variety of things
as we work is an unparalleled privilege.
Teaching is paramount
 The importance of teaching will never be fully
understood by many. Oftentimes we have
neglected lessons taught by not giving our full
    attention or ignored it completely.
 The more we know, the more opportunities arise in
life. Life is at its best with a variety of opportunities.
Education helps us expand what we know.
 This is a complex world, and we must be well-
informed of all in it. No teachers essentially means
    no future.
Wise quotes about learning
 “I am learning all the time. The tombstone will be
    my diploma.” – Eartha Kitt
 “I don’t think much of a man who is not wiser today
than he was yesterday.” – Abraham Lincoln
 “I am always ready to learn although I do not
always like being taught.” – Winston Churchill
