1. Simpler and more sensuous that
traditional Waltz, it requires less
space and only three times

The musette is similaire to the bagpipe, or
the biniou in Britanny and composed of a
goat skin bag and hollow wooden pipes, very
often made by the owner himself
The
musette
The
accordion
3. The so-called musette ball was created in the
18th century when people came to dance on
the music of a unique instrument : the
musette.
Since the beginning of the 19th century,
which was the golden age of the musette
4. •
In fact this technique of dancing spread in
the 1890s in Paris because the ball rooms
were narrow and couples could be close to
each other during dancing and did not move
around very much, even sometimes dancing
on the same spot all the time.
5. Musette waltz hasn't changed much.
There are very few moves : turn to
the left, turn to the right, change
6. Nowadays people dance Musette Waltz all the
time but especially during the traditional
balls on the 14th July, French National
Day, and during wedding parties.
7.
Simplified pattern :
This concerns both dancing to the right and to the left.
There are 3 steps during each bar.
The couple stand very close to each other, each of them with
the right foot between the other's feet..
The first three times are marked without moving : the man
starts with his left foot, the woman with her right foot.
Second bar : the man starts with his right foot and the woman
with her left foot.
After a while, the couple start rotating.
There are several other steps.
