"You’re a certified teacher?"
"You need a degree to be a school librarian?"
"I think that will be a great job when I retire - I love to read!"
We’ve all been there. A person, with good intentions, puts us in an awkward situation with his or her stereotypical understanding about our job based on their experience with the libraries of yesterday. Librarians have made tremendous strides to transform the profession to meet the demands of future-forward education. We impact the school community in ways that reach far beyond the library walls. Although the profession has transformed, how can school librarians work to dismiss the perception of our role?
This webinar will explore how two secondary librarians serve as technology innovators, teacher-leaders, co-teachers, literacy specialists, and “other duties as assigned.” Middle school librarian-teacher Heather Lister and high school librarian-teacher Allison Mackley will share strategies that they have used to spark connections and collaborations among their school’s students, faculty and administrators. Join them in this conversation to share insights and bold ideas in a place that values your voice. Heather and Allison will field questions from attendees during this live, interactive event.
