The President of the University wants to find out the percentage of all students who support a
smoking ban. He commissions a research center to conduct a poll of 250(n=250) students.
Among the students sampled, 40% (.4) suppport the ban. a. Calculate the 95% Confidence
Interval for the true population proportion of ban supporters. b. Interpret the confidence interval.
c. What would happen if we only sampled students living in dormitories (and not commuters?)
Would this be a sampling reliability or sampling validity issue? Justify your answer.
