Welcome Aboard!
From the CO:
• As a member of NR SURGEMAIN Orlando our mission is to
support the four (4) major Naval Shipyards, Pearl Harbor
(PHNSY), Puget Sound (PSNSY), Portsmouth (PNSY), Norfolk
(NNSY). You are required to do a minimum 14 day AT with
SURGEMAIN in order to support the mission. We support
the shipyards working side by side with civilians with either
the shop which you will be assigned to or on the deckplate
of the ship in need of repair. SurgeMain, short for “Surge
Maintenance,” is made up of a part-time, flexible, fully
qualified maintenance work force. These teams of reserve
component Sailors become a mobilization force when the
Navy needs to “surge” its maintenance infrastructure to
support fleet readiness and the Fleet Response Plan.
