Persuasive Speech Against Abortion
The first right in the US Constitution is the right to life, yet our country has decided it's okay for
us to rob certain citizens of this right. It has become legal for us to kill them when they cannot
defend themselves physically or in a legal sense. Just because a baby is not yet born does not make
them any less of a living, human being. In this speech, I'm going to share with you the reasons I
believe abortion should be made illegal in our country today.
In the United States alone, there are over one million abortions performed every year. This means
that nearly one in four pregnancies end in abortion, and one in three women have had an abortion by
the time they turn forty five. As these women decided to have an abortion to end the life of their
unborn child, they selfishly chose their own comfort over someone else's own life. The truth is,
every abortion ends the life of an innocent human being.
Every new life begins at conception, it's an irrefutable fact of biology for both animals and humans,
and we can't argue with that. Personhood is properly defined by...show more content...
This includes killing or hunting, trapping, kidnapping, selling, or tampering with their nest or
eggs. As our country's national symbol, the bald eagle is an important part of our culture and
heritage. It makes sense for us to protect these birds from the harm we can prevent. However,
when you think about what rights these birds have, we protect these animals more than we protect
our own human kind. It's illegal, and you can get in big trouble with the law for tampering with a
bald eagle egg, whether you kill the unborn eagle or not. However, you can kill an unborn human
being without anyone even batting an eye. There are so many things morally wrong with that
picture. The Bible tells us that we are of more value than a whole flock of sparrows, so why should
our country give more rights and protection to a bird than a human

Thesis: If women had the necessary information and means to carry out full–term pregnancies, raise
their children in safe comfortable environments, and have safe abortions, then the controversy over
abortion would cease. The solutions to reducing abortion, or at least making it safer for women, are
better leadership in Congress and commitment to women's health, providing up–to–date sex
education along with supporting pregnancy assistance programs.
"No matter what our views, we are united in our determination to prevent unintended pregnancies,
reduce the need for abortion, and support women and families in the choices they make. To
accomplish these goals, we must work to find common ground to expand access to affordable
contraception, accurate health information, and preventative services." (Montopoli)
Women with low income in the US have been at the mercy of this corrupt government since
abortion has been legally recognized. The solution to decrease abortions should not reflect
increasing the cost of unnecessary clinic regulations along with making waiting periods a
requirement, while decreasing the number of doctors available for abortions. This only results in
grave injuries and infertility from unsafe at home abortions. Public funding and assistant programs
should no longer be a "privilege" to women who want abortions. It should be a automatic given, like
guns to a redneck or hopes

What type of society do we live in? One that approves the killing of an innocent baby before it's
even born? That's what abortion is, and it's approved in almost every country. Abortion is a
procedure that deliberately removes a baby from the mother womb which is usually performed in
the first 28 weeks of pregnancy. In the United States, nearly 40% of all babies are aborted. While
many people say abortion is a viable method to stop pregnancy, abortion is killing an innocent unborn
human and that is undeniably murder. It has to be stopped.
While many argue that abortion is needed in cases of an unwanted pregnancy, there are other
methods that can be used to stop the pregnancy before it starts. For instance, birth control and the
day after pill...show more content...
A study at The University of Colorado shows "Within 8 weeks after their abortions, 55%
expressed guilt, 44% complained of nervous disorders, 36% had experienced sleep disturbances,
31% had regrets about their decision, and 11% had been prescribed psychotropic medicine by their
family doctor." (Ashton). This proves that most mothers feel an emotional effect after abortion. Who
really wants to put up with the possibilities of all these problems? It's just adding on to the problems
women face every day.
Though religious text can be interpreted differently most religions strictly prohibit abortion. Some
religions that prohibit abortion are Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Mormonism, and Baptist. Some
proof of this comes from the bible of the Christian Religion. In Psalm 139: 13–16 it says "13 For you
created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb.
14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that
full well.
15 My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven
together in the depths of the earth.

one of them came to be." "A Rig Vedic hymn [7.36.9, RvP, 2469] begs for protection of

"And if we accept that a mother can kill even her own child, how can we tell other people not to
kill one another?" a famous quote by Mother Teresa. Abortion is most definitely murder. If
someone murders a pregnant woman and both her and the baby dies then it is considered a double
homicide. This shows the unborn baby in the womb is legally classified as a life. Ronald Reagan
said, "I've noticed that everyone who is for abortion has already been born." I strongly believe this
statement to be true. Many people don't think twice about aborting a baby they just don't want
their lifestyle to be hindered so without really thinking about the pain and suffering that baby is
going to go through they decide to end its life. In a short abortion documentary video Jim Boyd, a
member of the Florida House of Representatives, asked Alisa LaPolt Snow from Planned
Parenthood if a baby is born on a table as a result of a botched abortion what Planned Parenthood
would want to happen to that child whom is struggling for life....show more content...

video that in a situation like that the physician would not do anything to help that baby survive,
they would just let it die on the table. If the baby needs resuscitation it will not be provided. Legally
they are obligated to try to help it but an abortionist stated that they would not try hard at all to help

There is really nothing more practical than the real world expressions of worldview. What people
believe is in the core of their being and will be expressed accuratly, and blatantly, in everyday life.
It determines the way we think and the way we act. So as we sit and think of the many world views
and make our own decisions on what we think, I want to bring up abortion. Abortions have been
happening since the time the Constitution was adopted, abortions before "quickening" were
openly advertised and commonly performed. Many believe it is your choice to kill a baby in the
womb and others are against it. Where do I stand? I believe that a child has life at conception. So if a
they take a childs life in the womb it is considered murder. Abortion is wrong and should be illegal.
When we think about abortion, there are normally three questions that cross each persons mind. We
need to understand: When does life start?, Who has the right to end another's life?, and What is the
value of human life?. The first question has brought a lot of divison in our society. There is now a
pretty strong consensus in the scientific community that life begins when a sperm and ovum come
together. At that point, a new individual is created which is unique from its mother. But than there is
the other side of the argument that it is the mothers choice. It is their own need and desire to think
about that they put first instead of putting the babys life before theirs. The second answer is no one

Abortion is a battle in America. Abortion is a very controversial matter in society. An abortion is
the ending of pregnancy before birth which results in the death of an embryo or fetus (lee). In the
United States, it is legal to abort a baby up until the day of birth. Many people consider abortion to
be as cruel as murder while others believe it is just a medical procedure. Although some might say
abortion is justifiable, others believe that no one but God has the right to take a life. With an issue
like abortion, there is extreme difficulty in determining if it is right or wrong. Abortion has been
around for close to two–hundreds years. The U.S. Supreme Court Case of Roe vs. Wade (Schoen)
in 1973 made abortion legal in America. The ruling was that unborn babies are not a legal
"persons" and from that point on they have had no rights or protection under the American
Constitution (PR Newswire). A woman has the right to make decisions that involve her body. the
government has always respected the individual's right to privacy. A woman's reproductive
system should not be a subject to government regulation. This reasoning was the premise for its
decision in Roe vs. Wade, Every woman has the right to control her own body (PR Newswire). A
fetus is part of a woman's body because it is dependent on her for survival in the womb. An
unborn child is the property of the mother and she can have the fetus killed by an abortion.
Although he or she may have a heart and a brain, and be human life biologically, an unborn baby
is not a legal person. A baby only becomes a legal person when he or she is born. Before that time,
it was not necessary to concern ourselves about him or her because he or she has no legal rights.
There are two different types of abortions. If in the first trimester the patient would likely have a
vacuum aspiration. Vacuum or suction aspiration uses aspiration to remove uterine contents through
the cervix. If a women is her second trimester meaning that it's been more than 13 weeks since your
last menstrual period, she will likely have a dilation and evacuation which involves removing the
fetal and placental tissue with a combination of suction and instruments. A small number of

We all know what an abortion is, or at least the basics of what it is. We also know that abortion is
a highly controversial topic. However, many people don't know what actually happens during an
abortion, or the effects it can have. There are so many things to consider, and we don't think about
everything. We just think about if a pregnant woman doesn't want to have a baby for whatever the
reason is, and then she shouldn't be forced to. However, that's not all there is to it and abortions
should be illegal because regardless the reason, the situation doesn't effect the fact that you are
taking a babies life, even if they are still in a womb.
What are in–clinic abortions? An in–clinic abortion is a procedure performed by using suction to take
a pregnancy out of your uterus. There are a few different kinds of in–clinic abortion procedures.
They decide which one to use by determining which procedure will be best for the mother. Some
people get abortion pills and it causes you to have the abortion at home. The pill takes about 24
hours to complete, while in–clinic abortions take between 5–10 minutes to complete. Suction
abortion is the most common type of abortion. It uses suction to empty the uterus, it is usually done
between 14–16 weeks. Dilation and evacuation is another kind of abortion procedure. It uses suction
as well but it also uses medical tools to empty the uterus. Dilation and evacuation is usually
performed after 16 weeks. ("Planned Parenthood") How late you can

Most people don't know the pros and cons of abortion? Abortion is what a female does for various
reasons, but many times for all the wrong reasons. There is multiple different ways females could go
to rather than to just choose the worst way. Even though some people think abortion is right at
certain times, abortion is wrong and surrogate should be used, because there is no reason to kill a
child that hasn't had the right to live yet. Abortion should never be the first option once getting
pregnant. Some people say they are against abortion, but would accept abortion if it was rape.
"Law & Order special victim unit" states that a women can't become pregnant after rape because
their body has a instinct to make their body reject the action and the eggs to be fertilized.(Law &
Order SVU) Even though females claim rape on many cases if they become pregnant doctors have
proven that the person had to of enjoyed some part of the sexual contact. People also get abortion for
ignorant reasons that should never be legal to do. Females use excuses how they aren't ready to have
a baby yet, but they use other excuses as in they don't want to ruin their body, or their relationships
with people close to them. Furthermore they get an abortion so they don't have to deal with it.
"Women always loth to talk about the more visceral elements of female reproductive physicality are
too ashamed, or unconfident in their reception, to discuss their terminations, even with friends or
partners. This brings about the curious circumstance that, while pretty much everyone must have
someone dear to them who has had an abortion, the chances of them actually discussing it with them
are remote. Most women don't tell friends family or their spouse about getting abortions
normally."(Caitlin, M, n/d .Therefore it is usually not nobody but the mother's decision to get the
abortion. Although most people would think relatives close to them would know about something
major like this, they usually don't. A option instead of abortion is a surrogate mother and/or
adoption, there's so many women on this earth that cannot conceive children for different reason, but
would love to have children. The only bad thing about surrogate is how

77% of anti–abortion advocates are men, 100% of them will never have to make the choice of
whether or not to have an abortion. Why do men have the right to say things and are allowed to
input their opinion about abortions when the majority of them won't ever get an abortion or have to
decide if they are ready to take care of an unexpected child. There are many reasons that women
choose to have an abortion, and the decision is often never made hastily or without thought. There
are often circumstances that make an abortion a very reasonable decision, and it's not always about a
mistaken pregnancy. In cases of rape woman should be able to abort free of judgement. If the
mother's health is affected than she should be able to make the choice without someone
criticizing her. When teen pregnancies occur the mother shouldn't have to be bullied because of
a simple mistake that thousands of other people make every year. Women should not have to ask
for permission to do what she deems necessary for her OWN body. Women should have an option
to have an abortion if they feel it's necessary especially in cases of rape, when it affects their
overall health and/or well being and when teen pregnancies occur. In cases of rape, women should
be able to get an abortion because in many cases it is a daily reminder of the constant trauma they
had to go through. Most people will agree in the case of rape that an abortion is the most common
outcome. They are right. To the people who

Abortion Discussion (Pro–Choice)
Do you believe abortion should be legal?
As a woman who has experienced the horrific tragedy of rape and all of the trauma that comes with
it, I personally find a woman's right to have a say in her own reproductive rights to be of the utmost
importance. Ever since the landmark Supreme Court case Roe v. Wadewas decided in January of
1973, abortion has been deemed a fundamental right for women. Additionally, a woman's right to
access legal, safe, and professionally–performed abortions severely reduces the risk of death and
bodily harm associated with less safe, unlawful abortions. Lastly, studies performed via peer review
in 2013 found that women who denied abortions were more likely to suffer from mental health
problems when compared to women who carried out the procedure. Furthermore, only 1 in 20
women who received abortions felt that they did not make the right choice in doing so. In other
words, in order to ensure the health of women, both physical and mental, in the United States, it is
vital that safe avenues for abortion remain available to the general public.
Does the Life of a Human Being Begin at Conception?
Human life most certainly does not begin at conception for a variety of reasons ranging from
medical to biological to legal. First of all, when we speak of how long a person has been alive we
commonly refer to their age. A number which represents how long it has been since they were born,
not conceived. Additionally, personhood only begins after a fetus has the ability to survive on its
own outside the womb, a term that is commonly referred to as viability. At the moment of
conception through up to 26 weeks into the pregnancy a fetus is not even capable of feeling pain,
according to Britain's Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. This aforementioned fact
has to do with the lack of a developed cortex in the said fetus. Furthermore, documents such as the
United States Constitution and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights fail to recognize fetuses
as living beings as they use words such as "born" to classify those whose rights the documents
encompass. Lastly, to suggest that a zygote, a diploid fertilized ovum that is formed at the time of

The topic on debating about abortion has been one of the biggest controversies there has been in
human history. There are many people in this planet that believe that it is very immoral and even
consider it to be murder. The definition of abortion is, "When a pregnancy ends abruptly, either
voluntarily or involuntarily, and the fetus is expelled from the womb before it can live on its
own. There are many ways you can see things in life, every human being has a different type of
perspective. The way we see things in life and how we feel about them are completely different for
all of us. Now in the case of pro–life believers, they do not support the idea of having an induced
abortion and truly believe it should be illegal. There are many supporters that do not know that if
abortion were to be illegal they would still be performed, sadly by uneducated staffs. There are over
80 thousand maternal deaths that occur almost every year because of unsafe abortions.
The idea of women having the choice to do what she pleases with her own body and support the
right to privacy is a pro–choice belief. A great example could be, when a woman is raped by a man
and becomes pregnant with his child, she then decides she does not want to keep the baby, she
now has an abortion because the idea of raising a child from a man that raped her is a very painful
thing to cope with all her life. Many pro–choice defenders take sympathies to this woman while in

Why are you killing an innocent child? What did they ever do to deserve this? Why are thousands

"Abortion has never been about "choice" It's about escaping the consequences of your choices by
taking away the "choices" of the most innocent around us" –unknown This is the truest statement
ever. We don't abort babies just because we feel like it. We abort them because they were a

The choice of her keeping the child would result in her getting kicked out of her home, she'd be
finically unable to support the baby, and she would lose her education. With abortion she would not
have to deal with these issues, though she would have to deal with the emotional aspect of deciding
to terminate the pregnancy. Pro–choice supports the idea she would learn from her mistake and that
ultimately it was her choice to do what she wished with her body. Even though these "Pro Life
supporters" think giving up your child for adoption is a better choice than an abortion, but those
children would be forced to live in an unfit foster home till they age out of the system. After they
turn 18 they are out on the streets what makes the women who would rather just have an abortion
have to think about when they know their child is in a foster home and probably no better off

Many individuals fail to understand the sheer magnitude of bloodshed, tribulation, and despair
legalized abortion has initiated into the human experience – both in the United States and

is the intentional decision to murder a human fetus by chemical, medical or surgical procedures.
Those who support the rights of abortion argue that women should be able to decide what can be
done to their bodies, yet the unborn baby inside a woman is a living being, and terminating that
pregnancy is the equivalent of murder. These innocent children should not be held responsible for
your mistakes. Don't terminate pregnancy now, because you may not have children in the future at

According to Guttmacher Institute, "89% of all abortions in the United States are performed in the

From 1973 to 2003 around 1 million abortions have been performed in the U.S alone and after the
Roe vs. Wade case was found in favor in Roe, which has led to a large controversy over whether or
not an abortion kills a person. Today I will not argue over which side is right or wrong, but show
you the facts and ethics of an abortion, and leave you the listener to choose whether or not to
believe and act upon these truths. First, the argument over abortion is not about women's right.
Many people associate abortion with women's right but this is not the case. The argument for or
against abortion lies in whether or not an abortion murders a person. Now with that context set, we
must now look to see first whether something is being killed and the answer is yes. Any Biomedical
scientist will tell you that an unborn baby's cell is different than that of her mother therefore if an
unborn baby were part of her mother the cells of the baby would match that of her mother. But it has
been scientifically proven as a fact that an unborn baby is composed of entirely different cells than
her mother. Furthermore this meaning that the baby is an entirely different organism. Also, we
know something is being killed because the unborn baby has different cells consequently meaning an
entirely different organism is killed during the abortion process. Now that we know that an unborn

1 out of every 6 women in America has been the victim of an attempted or completed rape in her
lifetime. Reports conclude that 5% of these victims become pregnant, and that's in America alone. To
make matters worse, most of these women cannot afford an abortion and have to live with a constant
reminder of the horrible things they've been through. That's why victims of sexual assault should
have free access to an abortion if needed.
First of all, abortion should totally be the choice of the woman, even if she's not been sexually
assaulted. Bringing a life to this earth when you're not ready mentally or financially is extremely
hard and without any help from outsiders it would be nearly impossible to raise a child. Its also
extremely selfish, because your responsibility is not to only bring a child into this world, but the
child needs to be fed, educated and has to have a roof over its head. So when you're agains abortion
(pro–choice), you're basically saying you are pro–birth rather than pro–life.
Also, abortion reduces crime. When we're talking about woman who can't afford an abortion, they
definitely don't have a good enough income to raise a child in a stable home. When they do have
the baby, they will grow up in poverty, and when I'm not saying every child raised in poverty will
become a criminal, but when...show more content...
It's not right If you are religious and anti–choice and are using your religion to deny people their
rights. If there is something that you don't like because your religion doesn't permit it or something,
then that's where you stop involving yourself to interfere with other people's lives that differ to
yours and your religion. People that don't believe in/agree with your religion/religious views don't
need to live under them, or have you telling them they're wrong. With something as personal as an
abortion it's down to the individual with what they choose to

Persuasive Abortion Essay

  • 1. Persuasive Speech Against Abortion The first right in the US Constitution is the right to life, yet our country has decided it's okay for us to rob certain citizens of this right. It has become legal for us to kill them when they cannot defend themselves physically or in a legal sense. Just because a baby is not yet born does not make them any less of a living, human being. In this speech, I'm going to share with you the reasons I believe abortion should be made illegal in our country today. In the United States alone, there are over one million abortions performed every year. This means that nearly one in four pregnancies end in abortion, and one in three women have had an abortion by the time they turn forty five. As these women decided to have an abortion to end the life of their unborn child, they selfishly chose their own comfort over someone else's own life. The truth is, every abortion ends the life of an innocent human being. Every new life begins at conception, it's an irrefutable fact of biology for both animals and humans, and we can't argue with that. Personhood is properly defined by...show more content... This includes killing or hunting, trapping, kidnapping, selling, or tampering with their nest or eggs. As our country's national symbol, the bald eagle is an important part of our culture and heritage. It makes sense for us to protect these birds from the harm we can prevent. However, when you think about what rights these birds have, we protect these animals more than we protect our own human kind. It's illegal, and you can get in big trouble with the law for tampering with a bald eagle egg, whether you kill the unborn eagle or not. However, you can kill an unborn human being without anyone even batting an eye. There are so many things morally wrong with that picture. The Bible tells us that we are of more value than a whole flock of sparrows, so why should our country give more rights and protection to a bird than a human Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Persuasive Essay On Abortion ;Mackeesha Jno–Charles Professor Smartt ENGL 1102 23 October 2017 No Uterus, No Opinion Thesis: If women had the necessary information and means to carry out full–term pregnancies, raise their children in safe comfortable environments, and have safe abortions, then the controversy over abortion would cease. The solutions to reducing abortion, or at least making it safer for women, are better leadership in Congress and commitment to women's health, providing up–to–date sex education along with supporting pregnancy assistance programs. "No matter what our views, we are united in our determination to prevent unintended pregnancies, reduce the need for abortion, and support women and families in the choices they make. To accomplish these goals, we must work to find common ground to expand access to affordable contraception, accurate health information, and preventative services." (Montopoli) Women with low income in the US have been at the mercy of this corrupt government since abortion has been legally recognized. The solution to decrease abortions should not reflect increasing the cost of unnecessary clinic regulations along with making waiting periods a requirement, while decreasing the number of doctors available for abortions. This only results in grave injuries and infertility from unsafe at home abortions. Public funding and assistant programs should no longer be a "privilege" to women who want abortions. It should be a automatic given, like guns to a redneck or hopes Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Persuasive Essay Against Abortion What type of society do we live in? One that approves the killing of an innocent baby before it's even born? That's what abortion is, and it's approved in almost every country. Abortion is a procedure that deliberately removes a baby from the mother womb which is usually performed in the first 28 weeks of pregnancy. In the United States, nearly 40% of all babies are aborted. While many people say abortion is a viable method to stop pregnancy, abortion is killing an innocent unborn human and that is undeniably murder. It has to be stopped. While many argue that abortion is needed in cases of an unwanted pregnancy, there are other methods that can be used to stop the pregnancy before it starts. For instance, birth control and the day after pill...show more content... A study at The University of Colorado shows "Within 8 weeks after their abortions, 55% expressed guilt, 44% complained of nervous disorders, 36% had experienced sleep disturbances, 31% had regrets about their decision, and 11% had been prescribed psychotropic medicine by their family doctor." (Ashton). This proves that most mothers feel an emotional effect after abortion. Who really wants to put up with the possibilities of all these problems? It's just adding on to the problems women face every day. Though religious text can be interpreted differently most religions strictly prohibit abortion. Some religions that prohibit abortion are Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Mormonism, and Baptist. Some proof of this comes from the bible of the Christian Religion. In Psalm 139: 13–16 it says "13 For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. 14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. 15 My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. 16 Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be." • 4. Persuasive Essay On Abortion "And if we accept that a mother can kill even her own child, how can we tell other people not to kill one another?" a famous quote by Mother Teresa. Abortion is most definitely murder. If someone murders a pregnant woman and both her and the baby dies then it is considered a double homicide. This shows the unborn baby in the womb is legally classified as a life. Ronald Reagan said, "I've noticed that everyone who is for abortion has already been born." I strongly believe this statement to be true. Many people don't think twice about aborting a baby they just don't want their lifestyle to be hindered so without really thinking about the pain and suffering that baby is going to go through they decide to end its life. In a short abortion documentary video Jim Boyd, a member of the Florida House of Representatives, asked Alisa LaPolt Snow from Planned Parenthood if a baby is born on a table as a result of a botched abortion what Planned Parenthood would want to happen to that child whom is struggling for life....show more content... What do your physicians do at that point?" She responds, "I do not have that information. I'm not a physician, I'm not an abortion provider so I do not have that information." We later find out in the video that in a situation like that the physician would not do anything to help that baby survive, they would just let it die on the table. If the baby needs resuscitation it will not be provided. Legally they are obligated to try to help it but an abortionist stated that they would not try hard at all to help Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Persuasive Essay About Abortion There is really nothing more practical than the real world expressions of worldview. What people believe is in the core of their being and will be expressed accuratly, and blatantly, in everyday life. It determines the way we think and the way we act. So as we sit and think of the many world views and make our own decisions on what we think, I want to bring up abortion. Abortions have been happening since the time the Constitution was adopted, abortions before "quickening" were openly advertised and commonly performed. Many believe it is your choice to kill a baby in the womb and others are against it. Where do I stand? I believe that a child has life at conception. So if a they take a childs life in the womb it is considered murder. Abortion is wrong and should be illegal. When we think about abortion, there are normally three questions that cross each persons mind. We need to understand: When does life start?, Who has the right to end another's life?, and What is the value of human life?. The first question has brought a lot of divison in our society. There is now a pretty strong consensus in the scientific community that life begins when a sperm and ovum come together. At that point, a new individual is created which is unique from its mother. But than there is the other side of the argument that it is the mothers choice. It is their own need and desire to think about that they put first instead of putting the babys life before theirs. The second answer is no one has Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Persuasive Essay On Abortion Abortion is a battle in America. Abortion is a very controversial matter in society. An abortion is the ending of pregnancy before birth which results in the death of an embryo or fetus (lee). In the United States, it is legal to abort a baby up until the day of birth. Many people consider abortion to be as cruel as murder while others believe it is just a medical procedure. Although some might say abortion is justifiable, others believe that no one but God has the right to take a life. With an issue like abortion, there is extreme difficulty in determining if it is right or wrong. Abortion has been around for close to two–hundreds years. The U.S. Supreme Court Case of Roe vs. Wade (Schoen) in 1973 made abortion legal in America. The ruling was that unborn babies are not a legal "persons" and from that point on they have had no rights or protection under the American Constitution (PR Newswire). A woman has the right to make decisions that involve her body. the government has always respected the individual's right to privacy. A woman's reproductive system should not be a subject to government regulation. This reasoning was the premise for its decision in Roe vs. Wade, Every woman has the right to control her own body (PR Newswire). A fetus is part of a woman's body because it is dependent on her for survival in the womb. An unborn child is the property of the mother and she can have the fetus killed by an abortion. Although he or she may have a heart and a brain, and be human life biologically, an unborn baby is not a legal person. A baby only becomes a legal person when he or she is born. Before that time, it was not necessary to concern ourselves about him or her because he or she has no legal rights. There are two different types of abortions. If in the first trimester the patient would likely have a vacuum aspiration. Vacuum or suction aspiration uses aspiration to remove uterine contents through the cervix. If a women is her second trimester meaning that it's been more than 13 weeks since your last menstrual period, she will likely have a dilation and evacuation which involves removing the fetal and placental tissue with a combination of suction and instruments. • 7. Persuasive Essay About Abortion We all know what an abortion is, or at least the basics of what it is. We also know that abortion is a highly controversial topic. However, many people don't know what actually happens during an abortion, or the effects it can have. There are so many things to consider, and we don't think about everything. We just think about if a pregnant woman doesn't want to have a baby for whatever the reason is, and then she shouldn't be forced to. However, that's not all there is to it and abortions should be illegal because regardless the reason, the situation doesn't effect the fact that you are taking a babies life, even if they are still in a womb. What are in–clinic abortions? An in–clinic abortion is a procedure performed by using suction to take a pregnancy out of your uterus. There are a few different kinds of in–clinic abortion procedures. They decide which one to use by determining which procedure will be best for the mother. Some people get abortion pills and it causes you to have the abortion at home. The pill takes about 24 hours to complete, while in–clinic abortions take between 5–10 minutes to complete. Suction abortion is the most common type of abortion. It uses suction to empty the uterus, it is usually done between 14–16 weeks. Dilation and evacuation is another kind of abortion procedure. It uses suction as well but it also uses medical tools to empty the uterus. Dilation and evacuation is usually performed after 16 weeks. • 8. Persuasive Essay Against Abortion Against Abortion Most people don't know the pros and cons of abortion? Abortion is what a female does for various reasons, but many times for all the wrong reasons. There is multiple different ways females could go to rather than to just choose the worst way. Even though some people think abortion is right at certain times, abortion is wrong and surrogate should be used, because there is no reason to kill a child that hasn't had the right to live yet. Abortion should never be the first option once getting pregnant. Some people say they are against abortion, but would accept abortion if it was rape. "Law & Order special victim unit" states that a women can't become pregnant after rape because their body has a instinct to make their body reject the action and the eggs to be fertilized.(Law & Order SVU) Even though females claim rape on many cases if they become pregnant doctors have proven that the person had to of enjoyed some part of the sexual contact. People also get abortion for ignorant reasons that should never be legal to do. Females use excuses how they aren't ready to have a baby yet, but they use other excuses as in they don't want to ruin their body, or their relationships with people close to them. Furthermore they get an abortion so they don't have to deal with it. "Women always loth to talk about the more visceral elements of female reproductive physicality are too ashamed, or unconfident in their reception, to discuss their terminations, even with friends or partners. This brings about the curious circumstance that, while pretty much everyone must have someone dear to them who has had an abortion, the chances of them actually discussing it with them are remote. Most women don't tell friends family or their spouse about getting abortions normally."(Caitlin, M, n/d .Therefore it is usually not nobody but the mother's decision to get the abortion. Although most people would think relatives close to them would know about something major like this, they usually don't. A option instead of abortion is a surrogate mother and/or adoption, there's so many women on this earth that cannot conceive children for different reason, but would love to have children. The only bad thing about surrogate is how Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Persuasive Essay On Abortion 77% of anti–abortion advocates are men, 100% of them will never have to make the choice of whether or not to have an abortion. Why do men have the right to say things and are allowed to input their opinion about abortions when the majority of them won't ever get an abortion or have to decide if they are ready to take care of an unexpected child. There are many reasons that women choose to have an abortion, and the decision is often never made hastily or without thought. There are often circumstances that make an abortion a very reasonable decision, and it's not always about a mistaken pregnancy. In cases of rape woman should be able to abort free of judgement. If the mother's health is affected than she should be able to make the choice without someone criticizing her. When teen pregnancies occur the mother shouldn't have to be bullied because of a simple mistake that thousands of other people make every year. Women should not have to ask for permission to do what she deems necessary for her OWN body. Women should have an option to have an abortion if they feel it's necessary especially in cases of rape, when it affects their overall health and/or well being and when teen pregnancies occur. In cases of rape, women should be able to get an abortion because in many cases it is a daily reminder of the constant trauma they had to go through. Most people will agree in the case of rape that an abortion is the most common outcome. They are right. To the people who Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Persuasive Essay About Abortion Abortion Discussion (Pro–Choice) Do you believe abortion should be legal? As a woman who has experienced the horrific tragedy of rape and all of the trauma that comes with it, I personally find a woman's right to have a say in her own reproductive rights to be of the utmost importance. Ever since the landmark Supreme Court case Roe v. Wadewas decided in January of 1973, abortion has been deemed a fundamental right for women. Additionally, a woman's right to access legal, safe, and professionally–performed abortions severely reduces the risk of death and bodily harm associated with less safe, unlawful abortions. Lastly, studies performed via peer review in 2013 found that women who denied abortions were more likely to suffer from mental health problems when compared to women who carried out the procedure. Furthermore, only 1 in 20 women who received abortions felt that they did not make the right choice in doing so. In other words, in order to ensure the health of women, both physical and mental, in the United States, it is vital that safe avenues for abortion remain available to the general public. Does the Life of a Human Being Begin at Conception? Human life most certainly does not begin at conception for a variety of reasons ranging from medical to biological to legal. First of all, when we speak of how long a person has been alive we commonly refer to their age. A number which represents how long it has been since they were born, not conceived. Additionally, personhood only begins after a fetus has the ability to survive on its own outside the womb, a term that is commonly referred to as viability. At the moment of conception through up to 26 weeks into the pregnancy a fetus is not even capable of feeling pain, according to Britain's Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. This aforementioned fact has to do with the lack of a developed cortex in the said fetus. Furthermore, documents such as the United States Constitution and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights fail to recognize fetuses as living beings as they use words such as "born" to classify those whose rights the documents encompass. Lastly, to suggest that a zygote, a diploid fertilized ovum that is formed at the time of Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Bold headings to grab the eye of the reader were used, same as big and clear images. The article was presented in three different columns. The context of the persuasive essay on abortion is set in the 21st century, and as the world becomes more accepting actions such as abortion, laws begin to change to cater to the new generation. However, there are always people that will oppose to these changes. That's what was outlined in my persuasive essay. Target Audiences The target audience for the real –estate article is someone who is looking for a spacious house to purchase. It probably would be directed more at a young family that's looking for more room, or a couple that are planning on having a bigger family in the future. Due to the economy and the continuous increase of house prices, this house probably would be targeted at a middle–class family. The target audience for the visual prompt is someone who is looking for a story that contains an unexpected ending and series of events. It also touches basis on mental health. Its more targeted at a younger audience, between 16–30 years old. As it's based on two women, the gender of the audience probably would be more women than men. As it focuses on grief and how that can change someone, it can be relatable to some audience members. • 14. Persuasive Essay On Abortion The topic on debating about abortion has been one of the biggest controversies there has been in human history. There are many people in this planet that believe that it is very immoral and even consider it to be murder. The definition of abortion is, "When a pregnancy ends abruptly, either voluntarily or involuntarily, and the fetus is expelled from the womb before it can live on its own. There are many ways you can see things in life, every human being has a different type of perspective. The way we see things in life and how we feel about them are completely different for all of us. Now in the case of pro–life believers, they do not support the idea of having an induced abortion and truly believe it should be illegal. There are many supporters that do not know that if abortion were to be illegal they would still be performed, sadly by uneducated staffs. There are over 80 thousand maternal deaths that occur almost every year because of unsafe abortions. The idea of women having the choice to do what she pleases with her own body and support the right to privacy is a pro–choice belief. A great example could be, when a woman is raped by a man and becomes pregnant with his child, she then decides she does not want to keep the baby, she now has an abortion because the idea of raising a child from a man that raped her is a very painful thing to cope with all her life. Many pro–choice defenders take sympathies to this woman while in the other hand she then gets called a Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. Persuasive Speech On Abortion Why are you killing an innocent child? What did they ever do to deserve this? Why are thousands of innocent children killed every day? We ask ourselves these questions every time we hear of an abortion, murder, or abuse. But do we say it when we hear a friend, sibling, or someone else has an abortion? Isn't this the same thing, the killing or abuse of a child? Many people believe this isn't because they are "tissue" but this is incorrect. "Don't tell me these are not children a heart beat proves that. So does a 4–d ultrasound. So do I. And so does the fact that they are selling human organs for profit." –Gianna Jessen She was born with 90% of her body covered in burns, ALIVE. How can they have a tumor if they are just tissue? Gianna saw her biological mother at an event and forgave her for her actions. She isn't angry at her mother for trying to kill her. Abortion does not make you unpregnant it just makes you a mother of a dead child. "Abortion has never been about "choice" It's about escaping the consequences of your choices by taking away the "choices" of the most innocent around us" –unknown This is the truest statement ever. We don't abort babies just because we feel like it. We abort them because they were a "mistake", or we didn't want them. These precious children aren't mistakes they are miracles. "We often hear that if planned parenthood is defunded their would be a health crisis among women without their services they provide. This is absolutely false, pregnancy resource centers are located nationwide for an option for women in a crisis" Gianna Jessen said this. If we stop sending 50 million of our tax dollars to planned parenthood, millions of children will be saved. Planned parenthood doesn't help families, but destroys them. There is proof of this. Gianna doesn't see her cerebral Palsy as a disgrace, but as a blessing. • 16. Persuasive Essay on Abortion Abortion has been one of the biggest controversies of all time. Many people believe it is 100% wrong and even consider it to be murder. The definition of abortion is; "The termination of pregnancy by the removal or expulsion from the uterus of a fetus or embryo prior to being capable of normal growth." These pro–life believers do not support the idea of abortion and believe it should be illegal. Many of these supporters do not know that if abortion were illegal they would still be performed, unfortunately by an uneducated staff. Over 70 thousand maternal deaths occur every year because of unsafe abortions. These women die, so the idea of supporting pro–life is contradictory, this is why the nation should be pro–choice. The choice of her keeping the child would result in her getting kicked out of her home, she'd be finically unable to support the baby, and she would lose her education. With abortion she would not have to deal with these issues, though she would have to deal with the emotional aspect of deciding to terminate the pregnancy. Pro–choice supports the idea she would learn from her mistake and that ultimately it was her choice to do what she wished with her body. Even though these "Pro Life supporters" think giving up your child for adoption is a better choice than an abortion, but those children would be forced to live in an unfit foster home till they age out of the system. After they turn 18 they are out on the streets what makes the women who would rather just have an abortion have to think about when they know their child is in a foster home and probably no better off than where they would be if she would have just kept it? You have to deal with the emotional circumstances after an abortion for a while but you have to deal with not knowing what the child you gave up has to go through on a daily basis everyday of your life is a lot harder than the emotional toll of an abortion Even though many people practice pro–life because of their religion, it may be surprising to learn that catholic women are 29% more likely to get an abortion than Protestant women, though they are as likely as all women to do Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. Persuasive Essay On Abortion Many individuals fail to understand the sheer magnitude of bloodshed, tribulation, and despair legalized abortion has initiated into the human experience – both in the United States and worldwide. Far more human lives have been violently ended by this immoral decision than any other war or genocide in history. It is one of the most controversial issues in today's society.Abortion is the intentional decision to murder a human fetus by chemical, medical or surgical procedures. Those who support the rights of abortion argue that women should be able to decide what can be done to their bodies, yet the unborn baby inside a woman is a living being, and terminating that pregnancy is the equivalent of murder. These innocent children should not be held responsible for your mistakes. Don't terminate pregnancy now, because you may not have children in the future at all. To commence with, during development a human being grows at an astonishingly rapid pace. According to Guttmacher Institute, "89% of all abortions in the United States are performed in the first trimester of pregnancy." (2005). In the first trimester (16 weeks), the baby's eyes and eyelids, nose, mouth, and tongue have formed, and the baby's reproductive organs also develop. The cardiovascular system is the first system that begins to function. The baby's heart begins to circulate their own blood, similar to his mother's heart, twenty–two days after conception. • 19. Persuasive Speech On Abortion From 1973 to 2003 around 1 million abortions have been performed in the U.S alone and after the Roe vs. Wade case was found in favor in Roe, which has led to a large controversy over whether or not an abortion kills a person. Today I will not argue over which side is right or wrong, but show you the facts and ethics of an abortion, and leave you the listener to choose whether or not to believe and act upon these truths. First, the argument over abortion is not about women's right. Many people associate abortion with women's right but this is not the case. The argument for or against abortion lies in whether or not an abortion murders a person. Now with that context set, we must now look to see first whether something is being killed and the answer is yes. Any Biomedical scientist will tell you that an unborn baby's cell is different than that of her mother therefore if an unborn baby were part of her mother the cells of the baby would match that of her mother. But it has been scientifically proven as a fact that an unborn baby is composed of entirely different cells than her mother. Furthermore this meaning that the baby is an entirely different organism. Also, we know something is being killed because the unborn baby has different cells consequently meaning an entirely different organism is killed during the abortion process. Now that we know that an unborn baby is not part of the mother and that something in the least is being killed. Now that it is settled that something Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 20. Persuasive Essay On Abortion Essay 1 out of every 6 women in America has been the victim of an attempted or completed rape in her lifetime. Reports conclude that 5% of these victims become pregnant, and that's in America alone. To make matters worse, most of these women cannot afford an abortion and have to live with a constant reminder of the horrible things they've been through. That's why victims of sexual assault should have free access to an abortion if needed. First of all, abortion should totally be the choice of the woman, even if she's not been sexually assaulted. Bringing a life to this earth when you're not ready mentally or financially is extremely hard and without any help from outsiders it would be nearly impossible to raise a child. Its also extremely selfish, because your responsibility is not to only bring a child into this world, but the child needs to be fed, educated and has to have a roof over its head. So when you're agains abortion (pro–choice), you're basically saying you are pro–birth rather than pro–life. Also, abortion reduces crime. When we're talking about woman who can't afford an abortion, they definitely don't have a good enough income to raise a child in a stable home. When they do have the baby, they will grow up in poverty, and when I'm not saying every child raised in poverty will become a criminal, but when...show more content...
