The first right in the US Constitution is the right to life, yet our country has decided it's okay for
us to rob certain citizens of this right. It has become legal for us to kill them when they cannot
defend themselves physically or in a legal sense. Just because a baby is not yet born does not make
them any less of a living, human being. In this speech, I'm going to share with you the reasons I
believe abortion should be made illegal in our country today.
In the United States alone, there are over one million abortions performed every year. This means
that nearly one in four pregnancies end in abortion, and one in three women have had an abortion by
the time they turn forty five. As these women decided to have an abortion to end the life of their
unborn child, they selfishly chose their own comfort over someone else's own life. The truth is,
every abortion ends the life of an innocent human being.
Every new life begins at conception, it's an irrefutable fact of biology for both animals and humans,

Thesis: If women had the necessary information and means to carry out full–term pregnancies, raise
their children in safe comfortable environments, and have safe abortions, then the controversy over
abortion would cease. The solutions to reducing abortion, or at least making it safer for women, are
better leadership in Congress and commitment to women's health, providing up–to–date sex
education along with supporting pregnancy assistance programs.

increasing the cost of unnecessary clinic regulations along with making waiting periods a

procedure that deliberately removes a baby from the mother womb which is usually performed in

As a woman who has experienced the horrific tragedy of rape and all of the trauma that comes with
it, I personally find a woman's right to have a say in her own reproductive rights to be of the utmost

1973, abortion has been deemed a fundamental right for women. Additionally, a woman's right to
access legal, safe, and professionally–performed abortions severely reduces the risk of death and

Roe vs. Wade case was found in favor in Roe, which has led to a large controversy over whether or
not an abortion kills a person. Today I will not argue over which side is right or wrong, but show
you the facts and ethics of an abortion, and leave you the listener to choose whether or not to
believe and act upon these truths. First, the argument over abortion is not about women's right.
Many people associate abortion with women's right but this is not the case. The argument for or
against abortion lies in whether or not an abortion murders a person. Now with that context set, we
must now look to see first whether something is being killed and the answer is yes. Any Biomedical
scientist will tell you that an unborn baby's cell is different than that of her mother therefore if an
unborn baby were part of her mother the cells of the baby would match that of her mother. But it has
been scientifically proven as a fact that an unborn baby is composed of entirely different cells than
her mother. Furthermore this meaning that the baby is an entirely different organism. Also, we
know something is being killed because the unborn baby has different cells consequently meaning an
entirely different organism is killed during the abortion process. Now that we know that an unborn

1 out of every 6 women in America has been the victim of an attempted or completed rape in her
lifetime. Reports conclude that 5% of these victims become pregnant, and that's in America alone. To
make matters worse, most of these women cannot afford an abortion and have to live with a constant
reminder of the horrible things they've been through. That's why victims of sexual assault should
have free access to an abortion if needed.
First of all, abortion should totally be the choice of the woman, even if she's not been sexually
assaulted. Bringing a life to this earth when you're not ready mentally or financially is extremely
hard and without any help from outsiders it would be nearly impossible to raise a child. Its also
extremely selfish, because your responsibility is not to only bring a child into this world, but the
child needs to be fed, educated and has to have a roof over its head. So when you're agains abortion
(pro–choice), you're basically saying you are pro–birth rather than pro–life.
Also, abortion reduces crime. When we're talking about woman who can't afford an abortion, they
definitely don't have a good enough income to raise a child in a stable home. When they do have
the baby, they will grow up in poverty, and when I'm not saying every child raised in poverty will

It's not right If you are religious and anti–choice and are using your religion to deny people their
rights. If there is something that you don't like because your religion doesn't permit it or something,
then that's where you stop involving yourself to interfere with other people's lives that differ to
yours and your religion. People that don't believe in/agree with your religion/religious views don't
need to live under them, or have you telling them they're wrong. With something as personal as an
abortion it's down to the individual with what they choose to
