3. Leisure Through My Life Essay
Leisure Through My Life Throughout my life I have engaged in many leisure activities that vary
through the levels in Nash's Paradigm of Free Time. Now that I am 18, I have realized that a lot of
activities that I enjoy are filled with social interaction, because without it I don't get any gratification,
just momentary pleasure that leaves me with an empty feeling. Csikszentmihalyi explains the
difference between gratifying experiences and pleasurable experiences, and how to experience
"flow". (Archibald, 2008, p. 4) There are many leisure activities that affected me throughout my life
and drastically affected my physiological, social, and psychological well–being. My life and the
person I am today was impacted by the activities I chose to do and events I chose to partake in.
Baseball had a huge impact on me across the chart but mostly kept my physical fit and introduced
me to new friends. I learned how to be social and since we all love sports, we would get together
and watch our high school's games. We would hang out all the time and sometimes we would kill
time by going to each other's houses and just watching TV or Netflix. These three activities affected
three different aspects of my well–being and are all tied to each other, but are rated on different
levels of Nash's pyramid.
Physiological Well–Being
I started playing tee–ball baseball when I was 5 and have been playing ever since till this day. I
started off young going to baseball practice, and training on the side

4. Leisure Time Essay
To the most of the people, when they think about the leisure, they always have the common image
of "free time where you do activities that relax you and make you happy'; "Taking it easy, not
working too hard" or "Something outside of the work day that promotes positive feelings". But other
than these, the meaning of the "leisure" is more thoughtful and deep.
The authority define of leisure is "activity chosen in relative freedom for its qualities of
satisfaction." And the John Kelly defined that "Freely chosen because the activity, companions, or
some combination of the two promises personal satisfaction." Leisure as part of people's life,
became more and more important. Nowadays, people have pay more attention to the "leisure time"

(Definitions of Leisure, n.d). For each person, the way to take a leisure are all different, leisure is
both contextual and highly subjective. Because people are all different from each other, each
person have the individual though. They might interest in different area and things to do. (Sid,
n.d.). Therefore, to find a good way to take a leisure is really important. To find the fit activities of
leisure activities will makes each of us have the best advantage to take from the leisure time.
There are several reason that why I choose to write about this topic: First, before I have taken this
class, I haven't have a chance to really understand and know more about the "leisure". In my
mind, the leisure is just a time that people can "take a break with", it is a relaxing time for the
people to do whatever they wants to do, just choose the activities that makes them feel happy.
Before taking this class, in my point of view, there is nothing to learn about leisure. And I have the
thought that there is not much thing to learn and it is not that meaningful or worthy enough to
take a class that only discussion about the "leisure". The reason I pick this class at first, is all
because I have known a lot of friends are taking it, and I would like to take the class with them. In
my mind, the "leisure" is a part of the psychology that have way less to learn compare to the other
subject. But later, when I really
