1. ALPHA TECHFEST – INTER CAMPUS STEM COMPETITION
As part of the glitter of its golden jubilee celebrations, the Alpha group of
Institutions conducted the ALPHA TECHFEST – INTER CAMPUS STEM
COMPETITION on the 27th
of October 2017 at the Alpha school, CIT Nagar
Campus
The event began with an inaugural function during which the Vice Chairperson of
the Alpha group of Institutions- Mrs Suja George and Chief guests – Dr. Sowmya,
Principal of Alpha College of Engineering and Mrs. Vengalakshmi- Former Chemistry
teacher of the Alpha Matric School , CIT Nagar, lit the traditional lamp to bring out
its significance of spreading Divine Grace, and later in one accord they all spoke
about the importance of the inclusion of STEM in the curriculum. The Principal in
her welcome address also stated that Alpha not only triggers the passion of the
students’ interest in Science, Technology and Robotics but also nurtures them to
excel in life stating that the chief guest of the Valedictory Function Dr. Arvind
Pattamatta, Associate professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering IIT
Madras who is an alumnus of Alpha is a living testimony of the same.
The five schools from the Alpha Group of Institutions participated in all the
competition conducted for different levels right from grade 3 to grade 12 with
great enthusiasm and vigor.
The various projects and models were judged by the eminent Chief Guests Dr.
Sowmya, Mrs. Vengalakshmi and Dr. Aravind Pattamatta.
At the end of the day , In the Valedictory function, the chief guest Dr. Arvind
Pattamatta, Associate professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering IIT
Madras not only gave away the prizes and encouraged the students but also
applauded them for their ingenious projects which displayed their immense
passion in the field of science and technology.
