B achelor Thesis: FABRICATION OF BIOGAS PRODUCTION AND FILTRATION UNIT AND THE USE BIOGAS IN
THE GENERATION ELECTRICITY
Description: In recent days, biogas is one of the sources to produce electricity. Due to the contamination present in the
biogas, it has to be processed before usingit to extract power. Slurry (cow dung + water) in the ratio 1:1.5 is allowed
to decay for 15 days. To increase decomposition of slurry oil cake is added, biogas from the tank is released at low
pressure which is difficult to pass to the engine therefore, to increase pressure of gas leg pump is used and it is stored
in tire tube. Tire tube is fitted with two opening valve, one is flow control valve and other is free valve. The gas from
tube is passed through filtration unit (charcoal + limestone + silica gel) to remove contaminant from gas. Charcoal
removes hydrogen sulphide which is toxic, limewater removes carbon dioxide and silica gel removes moisture from
biogas, moisture makes incomplete combustion. The Biogas is made to pass through engine which is coupled with
generator to generate electricity.
