Christmas is a Christian holiday
celebrating the birth of Jesus
Christ, but now in the USA
many non-religious people
celebrate it too.
The Christmas season is a time
for giving and spending time
with close family and friends.

October.

Families go to Christmas tree farms to

An old tradition is singing songs called Christmas carols.
People used to go house to house singing, but now many churches
and community centers have concerts instead.

Each family celebrates differently,
but for many the Christmas
holiday starts on Christmas Eve.
People make a large dinner with
either a Christmas ham or turkey.
Normally, children are allowed to
open one present on Christmas
Eve.
Many families go to Midnight Mass.
Santa Claus
Children are told to go to bed early so that Santa Claus can come and
leave them presents.
They leave out cookies and milk for him to eat and drink.
Children write letters to Santa and visit him in malls to tell him what
they want for Christmas.
Santa lives in the North Pole with his wife Mrs. Claus, his elves, and
his reindeer.
He brings toys to every child in the world on Christmas Eve night.
He travels on a sleigh led by his reindeer.

under the tree.
After opening presents, families might make a large traditional
