My experience during the course, Biomedical Technique, was a very interesting
one. During the course, I perfected my electrophoresis skills, and microscopy skills, also
I learned how to identify phage clusters, identify nitrates in the water, and how to do a
pharmacophore model.
Out of all of the workshops, the one that I liked the most was Dr. Rubin’s cluster
classification workshop. I really liked this workshop, because it involved a lot of
interesting topics, like the importance of studying mycobacteriophages, identifying the
clusters of the phages, and how to search for those clusters. The experience working with
Dr. Rubin as a professor and mentor was outstanding, because of all the knowledge gain,
and also thanks to him I managed to do a presentation, which I could be proud of.
Thanks to the course I managed to grow as a young scientist. I felt that I matured
by learning knew techniques, facts, and topics that where unknown to me or just weren’t
that clear in my head. If I had not taken this course, I wouldn’t be able to go on to do
research this summer, which is something I am very proud of. This course really is an
essential tool for the development of a young scientist, and I am happy that I took it.
