Neurosteroid Regulation of Gaba Receptor Trafficking System Seminar IV

The seminar was given by Ms. Comenencia, graduate student from Cayey, and

current student of Tufts University. Tufts University is located in Massachusetts, and it is

one of the best universities to do research, and/or have an REU (research experience for

undergraduates) experience.

Comenencias’ research is based on Gaba Receptors. Gaba receptors are a type of

receptors that that responds to the neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA).

GABA is the chief inhibitory neurotransmitter of the central nervous system. The

receptor levels can fluctuate or vary from person to person, and also depends on diseases.

It is worth mentioning that these receptors may have a dramatic effect on the cause of

various diseases related to the position.
