1. NESHEP Chairman’s Announcement – 3rd June 2011
It gives me great pleasure to announce that the North East SHE Partnership and Teesside Safety
Group have now officially merged, becoming a single cohesive voice representing the Health,
Safety & Environmental interests of our region.
The existing TSG committee have agreed to join forces with the NESHEP steering group, ensuring
the interests of both groups are catered for whilst going forward. I would like to thank Paul Smith
(TSG Chairman) personally and on behalf of NESHEP for the outstanding work he has done over
the last 3 years. The fact that we are joining forces brings an unrivalled wealth of experience and
resource together, covering all industrial sectors, which are key when it comes to sharing best
practice. “We all think we are the best at what we do but there is always someone, somewhere
who has already done it better; if we can capitalise on that experience and resource it will go a
long way to keeping our workforces safe and our client sites accident free”.
In the current economic climate both groups see this merger as an opportunity for
development; both in the health and safety culture within our businesses and ultimately
keeping our workers safe in what looks to be challenging times ahead for all concerned.
All members will be given the opportunity to discuss strategy at a planned workshop during our
next meeting at the Wilton Centre on Tuesday 7th June.
Summary of immediate benefits for members include:
• A stronger, diverse and more focused leadership team
• Larger attendances with varied expertise & knowledge base
• Extensive networking opportunities for business & knowledge growth
• Active subgroups waiting for your input to increase stimulation and provide
workable solutions for the industries we serve
• Specialist companies with decades of experience sharing best practice across all
industries in both the public and private sector
• Gaining respect as a national organisation, giving us a ‘louder single voice’ to benefit
our member companies and the region as a whole
• Concentrate on helping smaller companies, using expertise and support from larger
organisations, which will attract more ‘Micro Business’ members
• Instant savings on venue and other obvious administration & attendance costs
If you have any questions that you would like answering, or if you cannot attend the meeting,
please forward them to Tracy who will co-ordinate and provide answers.
Your input is required; ensure you are part of the solution and join us in shaping the health &
safety culture in our region and beyond for years to come…
