This is my take on chapter 1 of the book, 'how to be people smart' by author Les Giblin.
The book focuses on the skills required to work with people. The focus of the first chapter is focused on why people need to master this skill and how people actually learn.
Being people smart is about having greater skill in dealing with people.

• The benefits are not always self-evident
• An erroneous feeling that the benefits are intangible
• Fear that too much effort is required

excellence comes mostly from a mastery of the fundamentals, the basics
(blocking and tackling). Doing the basics well gives you success.
• Arthur Rubinstein a world famous pianist has this advice to give;
practice the scales an hour each day like I do

Neartly 95% of our learning is through the eyes and ears.
The best way to do it, is to learn it by doing.

Use what comes best to you. There is no rule of thumb.

• Don’t just learn, apply!
• Take baby steps, nothing worthwhile was ever achieved in a day
• Every effort counts towards your success
• If you have difficulty in understanding mentor someone else
• Stop lying to yourself!
• And most importantly of all, Know thyself!
