2. (Pt.1) Bandage
All freshly done tattoos should be bandaged up by saran tattoo wrap and
tapped closed. This is done because a tattoo is considered and open
womb and it is to help keep from being infected until you do the first
wash. Do not leave bandage on for over 2 hours. After your 2 hours is up
you will move to washing it.
3. (pt.2) Washing
After removal of the bandage the first thing you want do is wash/ cleanse
the tattoo. This should be done with antibacterial non-scented soap, and
warm water. Do not use a wash cloth use your hands to lather up the
soap on and pat and rub gently and lightly over tattoo. Using a cloth can
cause it to scratch tattoo leading to ink drainage. Pat dry.
4. (pt.3) Ointment
After your wash is when you can start using your healing ointment. Do not
put ointment on as soon you get out the shower skin can still be moist
which can cause excessive moist leading to fading This is a very
important step that has to be done correctly to determine the darkness
of your tattoo. When applying your ointment you never want to use to
much to over drain the tattoo, but you don’t want your tattoo to be dry.
Not putting enough ointment or putting to much can cause a fade in
color. There is a variety of ointments that work for tattoos. They have
some that are specifically made for tattoos like Tattwax, and h2ocean
cream or you can use ointments from drugstores like A&D ointment, and
Aquaphor. Do not use Vaseline!!!
5. (pt.4) Lotion Care
You should only use your ointment for the first 3-4 days after
that you will nonscented moisturizing lotion. At this stage
your tattoo should be beginning to peel and the lotion can
be used the remainder of the process it will keep it moist
until it is done peeling and fully healed.
6. A HEALED TATTOO
If you followed these steps correctly and consistently
you should have a clean healed tattoo without loss
of ink or fading.
