SHARP/VA flyers & tip cards, pins, & vehicle/clothing campaign ribbons)
• Each Wednesday in April 13 – Brown bag lunch discussions at Last Frontier
Community Center (LFCC) see attached flyer for additional information
• 1-30 Apr 13 – Fort Wainwright Clothing Drive (see additional flyer for
recommended donations and drop off locations)
• 1-30 Apr 13 – Silent Witness Silhouettes (Card board displays scattered
throughout Fort Wainwright telling victim’s stories)
• 1-30 Apr 13 – Fort Wainwright Family Advocacy will be hosting a Sexual
Assault Awareness display at the post library

Brown Bag Lunch and Learn Series –
Bring your lunch and join us* at the Last Frontier Community Center every Wednesday in April to engage in
discussions about Sexual Assault Awareness topics.
*Discussions will be facilitated by Army Community Services/Family Advocacy Program victim advocates.
4-3-13 How to Protect Your Child from Sexual Abuse.
The 2013 National Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) campaign focuses on healthy sexuality and its connection to
child sexual abuse prevention.
Join us for a discussion on healthy childhood sexual development and ways to keep children safe from sexual abuse. By
learning about the characteristics of healthy sexuality, adults can better identify risks, support healthy boundaries and
challenge negative messages.
4-10-13 Myths and Facts about Sexual Assault
“It can’t happen to me”, “Victims lie about being raped because they want revenge”, “She asked for it”. Today’s discussion
will focus on the long list of myths that still exist today, why they still exist and the facts to negate those myths.
4-17-13 A Look at Sexual Assault Worldwide
Did you know that a 1993 study in Alexandria, Egypt, found that 47% of female homicides were ‘honor' killings of the
victim after she had been raped. (El Youssef New Presses, Cairo)
Sexual assault is an issue that plagues all women and men in every part of the world. We will discuss global statistics and
international prevention programs including V-Day. V-Day is a global activist movement to end violence against women
and girls.
4-24-13 Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention in the U.S. Military: Next Steps.
The movie “Invisible War” is a 2013 Oscar-nominated documentary that has put the spotlight on sexual assault in the
military. What are the next steps for sexual assault prevention in the military including Fort Wainwright? We will discuss
the SHARP program and available resources on post.
