studies, family proved to be one of the
oldest and most stable forms of human
community, one that ensures
the perpetuation of the
species, evolution and continuity
of social life.
4. Compared with other
Europeans’, Romanians’ commitment to
family remains very high, it ranks first in the hierarchy of
values and this area continues to provide the most
satisfaction to each individual. Romania has one of the
highest marriage rates in Europe, increasing in recent
years and younger ages at marriage and child
birth. Divorce has an average level compared
to other European countries, and high stability over
time.
5. Average age at first
marriage, in the Romanian
Community, is 22
years for women and 25
years for men. Average age at
first birth is 22.
6. Parents in the family
Newly married couples try to
reach a stability. They try to find a
place to live, well-paid jobs and
everything that could ensure a
bright future for their family. But
after the first child is born things
change. Usually women are the
ones who stay home and take
care of their children.
7. Parents work together to raise
their children. They create for their
children an environment full of
love. Beside their physical: needs,
food, shelter and clothing; parents
also provide their children a proper
education, are an example for
them and they help their children
to build their own future.
