13. Hi
It depends what type of rescue is being undertaken, the requirements for
above the snowline are a lot different to bush, valleys, and rock.
For rescues in the snow there should be provision to carry a snow shovel
and avalanche probe, the pack may also be fitted with an avalanche airbag.
(look up BCA on line).
One idea I have is you know how if you want to get anything out of your
pack you have to dive down pulling out everything to get to something on
the bottom, well make it so you can enter the pack from the back.
In other words the pack opens like a bag, still have a pocket on the top for
bits and pieces, but when you open the main pack you can see everything
and get what you want with ease.
I would rather it had Velcro as a way of keeping it closed as zips always brake
or jam.
An other idea is to have a large extension fitted to the inside top of the
pack, big enough that it can be used as an emergency bivvey bag.
I personally don't like plastic buckles, they tend to brake if you stand on
them, lightweight metal and velcro might be better.
I hope these few ideas are of some help to you. Let me know how you go.
