Project 1:purification of waste water
with simultaneous production of
power:
• The base is photocatalysis,where I used
carbon nitride from urea and mixed with silver
nitrate at .83%wt ratio.
• Added potassium phosphate monobasic and
waste water as a sacrificial electron agent with
base(7.8) and also separately triethanol amine
as a separate agent.
• The purified water is somewhat acidic with pH
6.7 and TDS of 300.
• The power production is through hydrogen
fuel cell where the rate is 100umol/g/4hrs
with stability of about 6 cycles.
• The power production unit for which I am
presently working on as my final year project.
• First time H+ ions didn’t come but i am still
working on it to get adequate current with
sufficient stable result from sunlight.
PROJECT 2:OIL SPILL REMOVAL
THROUGH DATE PALM FIBRES.
• But i have sampled many samples like
ricehusk,sludge,wool woven fabric material,etc.But
date palm fibres topped the list with sorption
capacity of 4.53g, at 23 degree celsius at contact time
of 5 minutes.
• Oil uptake is rapid
• where OSC(oil sorption capacity) was 4.960 g oil/ g
sorbent for 2 min draining time and retains oil for
long time.It’s a low-cost, higher biodegradability as
it is a natural cellulosic fiber and cost effective
•
• The material is hydrophobic and oleophilic
• OSC vs time is studied and after 60 min,the
decresing OSC starts to rise.
• sorption capacity of EPFB fibre decreased
significantly from 1.33 g/g to 1.12 g/g at fibre
weighed 3 g and 5 g, respectively.
• I also tried to build a digester but due to
lack of proper guidance,I failed but my
curiousity won’t die till the end of my life.
Eventhough i didn’t optimum results
in my bachelors degree project,I
strongly believe with proper
guidance from you during my M.E-
Environemental engg program,i will
create an efficient waste to power
generation either pilot scale or as a
small scale project which will be
useful for all kinds of
people,especially the poor.
