Background
First conditions for Oral History someone who has shared events in the past. It is the collection
and study of historical information about individuals, families, important events, or everyday life
using audiotapes, videotapes, or transcriptions of planned interviews. Future generations can
recognize the past and get information from different points of view. Most of the information in
the oral history does not exist in written sources, so oral history is important for us because we
can know what happened in the past and we learn from them. I chose the person who did the
interview of him for several reasons, including his experience in life, his experience in sport and
his level of education.

Biographical Note
Biography of the person who I interviewed him, his name is Dr.Abdulrahman Alharhti. He was
born in 1962 in Abu Dhabi. He has a PhD in Business Administration. He was working in army
and he was the fitness coach but now he is manger in Abu Dhabi Distribution Company.
Interview
Dr. Abdulrahman has talked about the important things in the interview, I would write the most
important things he talked about it. Dr. Abdulrahman says that sport in the past were limited by
where you live on because in the past, life was simple and do not all possibilities are available
for all sports. They play sports in villages and were only sports are football, volleyball,
basketball and handball. The clubs in the past was a few in the villages because there is no
financial support in the past; the clubs was only in the big cities and is subsidized by the

government. In the past you can practice some sports such as squash in places owned by the
government just like the Army Officers Club. But if you want to be exercised abroad is very
difficult to find a private club that provides this game. In this time the situation is different, there
are many kinds of sports, now there are all different sports we did not know before. With the
development time we got to new sports such as Karate and Giojsto. Sports have moved from one
country to another country because of the development in this time. In this time there is place to
practice every sport and there are clubs specific to each sport. Now there is federation for each
game to be organized. Some traders have built clubs in villages so sports spread at that time in all
places such as Horse Riding Club, golf and archery. In leisure time in the past, they were
spending it in specific things because of the undiversified ways of entertainment. Dr.
Abdulrahman said that the things they do at leisure in the past like to go with the family to the
gardens, the sea and shopping centers. In the past we spend time with neighbors. In the past the
family was more cohesive because they were spending time with each other. In this time, they
can spend leisure time in the multiple things other than what was in the past. There are many
places the young can spend leisure time in it such as malls, cinemas and cafes. If we look to
young people we will see they are spending leisure time in phone. They spend most of their
leisure time in social media, which most of them do not benefit from their time. Young people do
not know how to organize their leisure time and how to benefit from it. Therefore, we believe
that most young people spend their leisure time in the sleep and do things of no benefit. We must
teach them how to benefit from their leisure time in things that benefit them. Young people must
learn and take experience from adult people how they spend leisure time in useful things. Dr.
Abdurrahman advised to make lectures and classes to educate young people to do exercise and
take advantage of leisure.

questions. Also benefited from it, I knew a lot about oral history, what they were playing in the
past and how they spend their leisure time. I got their outlook for this time and the difference
they see between our time and their time.
