2. #MYSOCIALNETWORK
Our topic is the effects of social networking on young people and
society in general.
Our target audience is both males and females aged from 17 to 25.
We expect most of them to be students at either college or university.
It will be formal in accordance with conventional documentaries.
We want our documentary to be shown on Channel 4 at 8pm.
3. CONTENT
Our documentary will look at social networking and how it has affected peoples lives,
both negatively and positively. The title is ‘#MySocialNetwork’ which is a play on the use of a
hash-tag on twitter. This will hopefully translate to our target audience.
Our interviews will be with a mixture of experts (teachers, academic coaches etc.) and
ordinary people (students etc.).
We will have a voxpop with multiple members of the public that are inside and out of
college.
We are asking a variety of people in hope that we get a wide range of opinions to create a
balanced argument.
We are considering using a clip from ‘The Social Network’ (film) as possible stock footage.
4. RESEARCH
Primary
We are going to use a questionnaire to carry out a pilot study. This
will be handed out to 10 people to see what they know about social
networking.
We hope to get various opinions from the general public during
our voxpops.
The expert interviews allows us to get informative views.
5. RESEARCH
Secondary
To choose the channel we wanted to show our documentary on we
looked at a few different channel remits and schedules to help us decide
(refer to Channel Remit Research).
We have used the internet and websites to source information for our
research and actual documentary.
Websites like socialmediatoday.com to get statistics, facts and figures
that we can use and feature within the docummentary.
6. RESOURCES
There is a range of software and hardware that we will need to
carry out our research, plan and produce our documentary and
present these documents onto our blog.
The following slides will identify what these will be:
7. HARDWARE
The hardware we will use will be:
A Windows PC will be needed throughout the process.
A printer to print off our questionnaires to get research.
A camera, microphone, tripod and headphones are essential when it
comes to filming footage for the documentary.
An iMac to edit our footage.
We may possibly use a recording studio to record our voiceover.
8. SOFTWARE
We will use the internet to get background knowledge into social
networking.
We will need to use Final Cut Pro on the iMac to edit and
GarageBand to create the music to be used within the documentary.
We will need to use Microsoft Office to create documents to help
present our information and create the questionnaires.
9. BLOGGER
We will use Blogger.com to present all of our information and work
towards the documentary.
The ways we will present this work will be through different softwares,
such as;
