Announcing Call for Youth Delegates to Attend the 2011 Global Alliance Summit Sessions
There is a worldwide revolution being led by youth all over the globe using social media and challenging old
paradigms of governance. We are calling for the transformation of social, environmental and economic
realities toward the realization of global peace. The Global Alliance Summit presents this unique opportunity
to bring together young peace campaigners from Africa, the Middle East, North America, Latin America and
Europe. Local and international youth are invited to attend this special session of the Global Alliance Summit,
sharing in a participatory, dialogue-based process to delve into the concepts of a culture of peace and
infrastructure for peace, highlighting youth participation for peacebuilding, inner peace and interpersonal
peace, plus ideas related to creating a peace economy. The youth sessions will also include an evening to
connect and share experiences, 3rd October, 2011 at 6:30pm at The Hub - Cape Town in Woodstock.
If you are a young person passionate about contributing to a culture of peace in your country and
throughout the world, this is the opportunity you have been waiting for.
Representatives are confirmed from the University of Peace of Costa Rica, the Culture of Peace Organization
(Switzerland), PATRIR (Romania), the United Nations Association of South Africa (UNA-SA), University of
Cape Town, University of the Western Cape and Stellenbosch University, and many more are welcome to
attend. Scholarships available.

Opening Ceremony: 2nd October 2011 ~ 6:00pm – 8:00pm ~ Life Sciences Building Auditorium,
University of the Western Cape. Appetizers and refreshments served.
Youth Social Event: 3rd October 2011 ~ 6:30pm – 9:00pm ~ The Hub Cape Town, Unit 102 & 201,
Old Castle Brewery Building, 6 Beach Road, Woodstock. Tel: +27 (0)21 442 9600. Walking distance
from Esplanade and Woodstock train stations. Pizza and non-alcoholic refreshments: R60.

Youth Working Session: 4th October 2011 ~ 8:30am – 12:00pm ~ School of Public Health,
University of the Western Cape (open for delegates to attend full day). Lunch provided.
Optional ~ Other Summit Days: 2nd – 6th October 2011 ~ School of Public Health, University of the
Western Cape. Register with Tara Ruttenberg at registration@mfp-dop.org, Youth delegate fee: R200
per person per day.
