4. What is Peace?
-Peace is a concept of societal friendship and harmony in the
absence of hostility and violence.
-In a social sense, peace is commonly used to mean a lack of
conflict (such as war) and freedom from fear of violence
between individuals or groups.
(The Hebrew word for peace, šālôm, translated in the Septuagint
most often by the Greek word, eirēnē, has a wide semantic range
including the notions of totality
or completeness, success, fulfillment, wholeness, harmony, security
and well being)
5. Why is Peace Important?
Peace is important because it avoids and stops conflict. By
avoiding conflict we also avoid the consequences it brings. The
more we ignore peace, the more harmful and destructive will these
consequences be. Men or women, young or old, it doesn't matter
who we are. If we don't try building and keeping peace, then we
will all be affected by the effects of conflict and wars. Even now,
many battles are occurring across the globe. A good example is
Afghanistan where battles have been fought for years and is still
continuing. In there, tons of people lose their lives whether they
are innocent or not. Civilians live in fear and stress and soldiers
develop traumas and different mental illnesses after fighting.
Properties and homes are destroyed and many people or refugees
have nowhere to go. If we start building peace then people won't
have to suffer through these things.
6. Why is Peace Important?
But avoiding conflicts isn't the only thing peace can do. Just like I
said before many people suffer the damages of conflict and war,
both physically and mentally. With peace we can take away or
avoid negative feelings. Victims of war will finally have freedom
to live where fear of dying won't take hold of them everyday.
Everyone will have the chance to be happy with little to no more
stress or anger. With peace, all of us can be calm knowing that we
are all safe and secure from the dangers of conflict.
7. How can we Achieve
Peace?
We can't achieve peace easily and we most certainly can't do it
overnight. Achieving peace has a lot of steps and even they aren't
easy. First, peace starts with us, within our minds, our hearts and
with our actions. In achieving peace there is one very important
thing that we all must have and that is love. While it may sound
corny or cliché to others, it still plays an important part in peace.
Without love, peace wouldn't be complete. By loving ourselves and
accepting who we are, we are able to become more positive no
matter how bad the situation we are in. But we should be careful
not to replace it with pride. Next, we need to make sure we are at
peace with others. By loving others and caring for them, we are
able to make more friends than enemies. Speaking of enemies,
they are also included to the people we need to have peace with.
8. How can we Achieve
Peace?
If we are at peace with everyone, then they to can feel peaceful
with us and they might even spread this peace to others. Then, just
like I said before, peace doesn't come overnight. We need to be
patient as it grows bigger and bigger. We should continue to love
without stopping so that the peace we started won't break. Finally,
if we do good works for peace without assurance, then the peace
we are working might end up in nothing. That is why we need
God because He is the one who has promised us with peace. God
doesn't break His promises and He never will so if we put our trust
and faith in Him as well as share His word with others, then we
can be assured that we will get the peace we are building
especially since God is always victorious.
9. Quotes
"The more you sweat in peace the less you
bleed in war“
- Norman Schwarzkopf
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they
shall be called sons of God." -Matthew 5:9
11. What is Unity?
-It is the state of being united or joined as a
whole.
-a whole or totality as combining all its parts into
one.
-Unity is being together or at one with someone
or something. It's the opposite of being divided.
This is a word for togetherness or oneness.
12. Why is Unity Important?
Unity is important in many ways, not just in society but as well as
in every nation there is. First, we should all understand that no one
can survive on their own. Just like how God created and gave Eve
to Adam to help and accompany him. We too need others to
survive in this world full of troubles and problems. With the help of
others we can grow much more than we would expect. If a weak
nation can't stand on its own, it can ask the help of a stronger
nation. If a strong nation needs help or allies, it can ask the help of
a weaker nation. Everyone that keeps unity benefits from it. If
nations help each other simultaneously, then all of them will
continue to grow and develop until they reach the top. Unity gives
motivation and courage to people especially to leaders. They can
try to do new things and use different solutions knowing that
other countries support them.
13. Why is Unity Important?
Finally, unity creates one same mind to all of us. If all nations,
including their citizens, have the same goals and strive for them,
then every problem they try to solve would be solved even faster.
Just like how every member of the Church works together with the
same mind to follow Jesus and accomplishes great things in His
name. We too can accomplish many great things if we work
together, stand together and fight together. Even the pandemic
that we're experiencing right now won't make us fall down if all
the nations and everyone in it have the same goal.
14. How can we Achieve
Unity?
Just like peace, unity also starts within us. We should all first take
away our selfishness, greed and pride. These are probably the
major causes of corruption in the government. If the government of
a nation is too corrupt, then it can't accomplish unity with other
nations since it won't be able to accomplish unity with its people.
Leaders who want everything for themselves as well as those who
abuse the power given to them are some of the causes of
corruption. People won't get what they want and need while the
corrupt leaders try to get more and more of what they want in
any means necessary. In the end, the whole nation gains nothing
and the people are divided by greed, dishonesty and hatred.
Instead of this, we should give what we can to others and lift them
up. Rich countries should give and support the poor ones and
strong countries should help and defend those who are weak. We
should also keep an open mind especially when we are
associating with people who are against or have different
opinions and thoughts than us.
15. How can we Achieve
Unity?
If two nations can't have an open mind and accept each other's
differences, then these nations won't be able to unite and instead
they might just end up in a war or conflict. Another important thing
when trying to accomplish unity is that if others help us, we should
help others. If someone does good to us, we should repay them by
helping the same ones who helped us or by helping others who
need it. If we continue to do this, then it will expand to more and
more people until we are all eventually helping each other.
Citizens who work together and help each other with same goals
in mind can surely make their own country prosper and develop.
16. Quotes
“Alone we can do so little; together we can
do so much.”
-Helen Keller
“I appeal to you, brothers, by the name of our
Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree, and
that there be no divisions among you, but that
you be united in the same mind and the same
judgment.”
- 1 Corinthians 1:10
18. What is Cooperation?
-It is the process of working together to the same
end.
-Cooperation is the process of groups of
organisms working or acting together for
common, mutual, or some underlying benefit, as
opposed to working in competition for selfish
benefit
19. Why is Cooperation
Important?
Cooperation is similiar to unity where two or more people or
groups work together towards the same goal or objective. They
help each other in the process and all of them benefit from it. With
cooperation, solving problems and doing objectives flow better
and faster. People who are cooperating with one another are able
to exchange information and ideas to create plans quicker and
more accurate. When they exchange ideas, each member or
participant gains a new perspective on how to solve certain
problems and how to deal with different situations. Each one
grows and develops as they learn from others. Cooperation also
improves communication and understanding between people. It
builds trust with each other and it gives confidence because we
know we are not alone in achieving a goal. This is why every
nation must have cooperation. When citizens cooperate with the
government, less conflicts and problems will emerge because they
all have a common way of thinking just like their leaders.
20. Why is Cooperation
Important?
People who cooperate will work on how to accomplish a common
task without disrupting it. They will avoid unnecessary or risky
actions that will stop progress or make their plan fail. If nations
have cooperation, there will be a higher chance of people working
together to achieve their goal. There will also be less chances of
nations or leaders betraying each other. The government and its
law would be meaningless without the cooperation of citizens.
One important thing we can relate to cooperation is God's plan. If
we keep on ignoring what He wants and going astray from His
way, then we won't be able to experience the good life God has
planned for us that is full of His promises. If we don't try to
cooperate, we won't get the good outcomes that we've always
wanted.
21. How can we Achieve
Cooperation?
First, we should always be open-minded to new and different
ways, ideas, plans, thoughts or goals. We should consider what
others think is best and try to follow it. Next, we shouldn't be
afraid to communicate and interact with others because it our only
way to understand their opinions more precisely. With
communication we can also find a common ground in which we
can all agree on without having to fight for own sides. We can also
be more cooperative by learning how others accomplish tasks and
by listening to their advices. Another important thing is to know
each of your own roles, tasks, positions and responsibilities. Each
person has their own strengths and weaknesses, no one can do
everything. By keeping this in mind, we are able to recognize
what we need to do and what we need to help other with. We
also start to see what skills or part of us still needs some
improvement and how we can develop them.
22. How can we Achieve
Cooperation?
If we play our roles right just as our higher authorities expected
us to do, then we are definitely helping in making progress for the
nation's common goals. A good example of cooperation is when
the Allied powers surrounded Germany in the end of WW2. Even
though it may not be the best example, it still gives us insight on
what cooperation can accomplish. After all, they did finish a
deadly war. Finally, the last but not the least important thing to do
is to follow our government . God said that we should all follow
all governing authorities because there are no other authorities
except those that have been established by Him. And if we
disobey these authorities, then we are disobeying God Himself.
That is why we should not be lazy and ignorant on what the
government wants and instead we should make it part of our
lifestyle to cooperate with them.
23. Quotes
"Coming together is a beginning,
staying together is progress,
and working together is success."
-Henry Ford
"Two are better than one because they
have a good return for their labor."
-Ecclesiastes 4:9
24. How are Peace, Unity and
Cooperation related to each
other?
Try to think of it as a triangle. These three work together for each
other. For example, Cooperation can create Unity, Unity can create
Peace and Peace can lead to Cooperation. This can also be
reversed to: Peace can create Unity, Unity can lead to Cooperation
and Cooperation can create Peace.
PEACE
COOPERATION
UNITY
25. How are Peace, Unity and
Cooperation related to each
other?
There a couple more orders or combinations that can be created
with these three because they all lead and connect to one another.
But there is something very important to create any of these three
and that is love. Jesus said that the two greatest commandments
are love your God and love your neighbor. If we want to know
and learn about love then we should first turn to God since He is
love. We are able to love because He loved us first so if we love
Him, then achieving peace, unity and cooperation wouldn't be so
hard since everything good also comes from God. If we already
love God, then that means we are also able to love others. Peace,
unity and cooperation will never truly work if we don't love others
especially our enemies. In conclusion, these three things are all
powered by love so if we want to achieve them, then we all first
learn to love.
26. “And above all these put on love, which
binds everything together in perfect
harmony.”
- Colossians 3:14
