FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
OFF THE GRID: R&B PLANS FOR ENERGY INDPENDENCE
Auto Dealership Seeks Local Talent To Spearhead Green Goals
Fontana, CA: If you are an environmentally conscious architect, engineer, building contractor or
manufacturer, who is based in the Inland Empire and has experience with renewable energy techniques
and construction, then R&B Auto Center wants to recruit you.
Bob DeLozier, co-owner of R&B, is seeking to assemble a like-minded team of professionals to help
revamp the 30 year-old dealership, and make it as independent from Fontana’s power grid as possible.
His vision for the new, self-sustaining site includes: wind turbines, elevated solar farms, natural interior
lighting, water harvesting and retention systems, subterranean electrical battery storage, and recycled
building materials.
DeLozier highlights the fact that Fontana sits in the middle of the Cajon Pass of the San Gabriel
Mountains, with the strong Santa Anna winds blowing through the city year-round, in addition to the hot,
sun-soaked weather. Capitalizing on the capture and storage of these natural elements to power R&B,
while eliminating wasteful utility bills, are the end goal.
Plans for an expanded main building will feature a modern show room and extra offices for the R&B
staff. The company is also interested in constructing a second level—or a separate structure altogether—
with an eye toward attracting a prospective educational institution or other Fontana-based businesses as
space-sharing partners.
Unlike Los Angeles or Orange County, energy sustainable construction in the Inland Empire is more of
an exception than a rule. Rarer still are auto dealerships, which use excessive amounts of water and
electricity, experimenting with renewable technology. DeLozier hopes R&B can establish itself as a
pioneer in energy sustainability not only for Fontana, but other auto dealerships and service centers across
Southern California.
