3. Observation
• At first, this male cat was laying down on a
floor.
• His eyes spotted the feather when his human
started moving it around him
• He rose his head first and quickly stood up
from lying position
• He started chasing the feather within seconds
• After this activity, approximately lasted 1 –
1.5minute, this male cat laid down panting
hard.
4. Neurobiological Process
• This male cat’s retina caught a vision of moving
feather, sent it to the Thalamus and Visual cortex.
• The cat moved his head and entire body in order
to his instinct to catch a chase via Central Pattern
Generator (Stereotyped movement)
• The motor interneuron and motoneuron in
Central Nervous System innervated his Fast
fatigable skeletal muscle fiber
5. My analysis of this event
• This male cat, named Trouble, about 10 years old, could chase
this circling feather for about 1 – 1.5 minutes; Fast fatigable
skeletal muscle fiber movement last until glycogen runs out.
• However, our 7weeks old kitty could chase the moving feather
for more than 3 minutes; the baby kitty has moved and ran
around all the time while he was awake.
• It might be not because of only his youth, but also this kitty’s
using his fast muscle fiber all the time.
