Do You Have What It Takes?
The 12th Youth Assembly was one of the most successful youth assembly events we ever had, and was also the longest running, annual youth
leadership event on the United Nation’s calendar. Over 1000 youth, representing 40+ countries, gathered in the UN General Assembly Hall to
learn how to bring their contribution to the success of the 8 UN Millennium Development Goals.
This Winter Youth Assembly, “Youth Employment and Social Entrepreneurship”, is a extension executive session of the 12th Youth Assembly.
Having reached 1.8 billion, youth now comprise almost 25% of the world population and the largest generation of youth that the world has ever
known, facing unique challenges and opportunities. Two of these challenges are the rising unemployment rate and the difficulties that the
educational systems face in adapting to the rapidly-changing job market.
There is no longer time to teach youth how to write Resumes;
It is high time to teach them how to write business plans!
The UN Secretary General’s Special Envoy on Youth strongly advocates.
At the Winter Youth Assembly, we will help the attendees to diversify their skill-sets and gain valuable insights, essential for their future career
paths.

6. Youth Assembly Testimonials…
"I urge you to see your time (at the YA) as a call to action. The
world needs each and every one of you to do your part in
transforming our world and building a more sustainable and
equitable future for all."
– U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki‐Moon
“If you saw the impact you have had on the youth (and young at
heart) attending the Assembly
you would have to shade your eyes from the brightness of hope.
We applaud you for your good work.”
– Paulette Schatz, UNDP Kabul‐Afghanistan
"It is a great pleasure to send greetings to Friendship
Ambassadors Foundation's Youth Delegates. I can't thank
you enough for demonstrating your commitment to making
a difference, and I encourage each of you to continue to give
back to others.”
– Michael R. Bloomberg, Mayor, New York City
7. Your 2014 Welcome to the United Nations!
'What could be a better message of hope and inspiration than the fact that young people are
acknowledged by the UN as full partners in designing, implementing, and evaluating the
policies and programmes affecting their lives? I was once sitting in the same setting as you,
not sure if I could really influence policies. The Secretary-General and the UN send a clear
message with my appointment that all youth can contribute and nothing for youth should be
done without youth involvement.”
– Ahmad Alhindawi
"We hope you will be inspired by the example of Ahmad Alhindawi who just a short time ago
was participating in this Assembly and wondering whether he would ever have an opportunity
to influence politics. You (too) can make important contributions”
– Maher Nasser, Director of Outreach, Department of Public Information, UN, Jan 2013
“The Youth Assembly was a big success. I am so very grateful to you for the opportunity to be
part of it all. After three long and very packed days at the UN, I left on Friday evening feeling
so inspired and hopeful about our world and the future. I heard from and was impacted by SO
many people, young and old, but mostly young and was blown away each and every time. I
was really touched by so many. The things the youth are doing in their communities and
outside are just incredible.
- Melissa, one of the YA+12 Delegates
"Simply Fabulous!, the youth assembly set the tone for a future set up for humanity. It was
most amazing for me meeting youths of my age, who have done so much ….”
- Aduragbemi Ogunbanke, Nigeria
“The YA has brought a significant change to my life. I always thought about impossibilities. I
thought that I can't achieve things on my own. But now, I feel inspired. I feel motivated … this
conference has empowered me to go for my dream.”
– Daniel Henry Smith, Liberia
