An OMR Sheet is a form that is specially designed to have bubbles or checkboxes for respondents to mark their answers. Reading an OMR sheet involves using a scanner or a dedicated OMR reader device to capture the marks made on the sheet.
2. Introduction
An Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) sheet is a specially designed form that contains
bubbles or checkboxes for respondents to mark their answers. Reading an OMR
sheet involves using a scanner or a dedicated OMR reader device to capture the
marks made on the sheet and interpret them as data.
Considering these points, software has been specifically designed in aiding to solve
the problems. Optical Mark Recognition (OMR Reader) is the software that has the
capability to read the OMR answer sheet. With OMR software you need to connect
ADF scanner which may be either flatbed or document reader scanner. It is usually
used to check objective or multiple choice questions based examination.

4. The first step that involves in OMR answer
sheet checking process is scheduling the test.
To conduct the test set the question papers by
entering the following detail such as test
name, test date and test ID, subject and
section. And define the number of questions
in each subject and each section

5. Create answer key for each question
paper and allot marks for each
questions. The answer key can be
imported either by typing manually or
by copy pasting the answers from the
Excel Sheet.

6. The scanner scans the OMR sheet first and then save
it in the folder. As you select the saved files the OMR
software will read the OMR sheet and evaluate it.
Further the software will indicate if there is any
mistake in filling of the bubbles. Also, you need to
position the answer sheet in a proper alignment
before you start to scan. Once the software finished
reading and evaluating the data is saved in the sheet
checker software.

7. Once the software has completed reading the
scanned OMR sheet, the scores are calculated
based on the number of correct questions and
number of wrong questions. The software now
generates the report either in graphical form or
mark list etc. There is a facility to create your own
result; you can export the result in Excel form or
any other form.

It's worth noting that the specific techniques and software used
for OMR reading can vary depending on the system or software
you're using. Dedicated OMR Software often provides built-in
tools and algorithms to automate the process, making it more
efficient and accurate.
