1. Western media: biased or not?
Western media is wrongly perceived as global media by most of the people. This wrong perception
gives western media authority over global coverage of news.
They have become the sole authority over perception over incidents. They shape the news as per
their Liking and world at large believes in it. But lately many nations have raised questions
regarding their biases. Their coverage in many incidents have proved that they are at last located
in countries and they are not above national, political and ideological linkages.
Let’s take their coverage in Covid-19, they showed burning dead bodies and dying people in
India. A horri
fi
c story presented in as sensitised manner as possible. When you look at the video
stories and photos which came out of India at that time, you would think that India is the country
which mishandled covid very badly.
Look at the way BBC,VOX and NewYorkTimes showed Covid-19 deaths in India. Now let’s see
how the same news outlets covered Covid deaths in USA.
Look at the way same BBC,VOX and NewYorkTimes covered Covid-19 in USA completely
di
ff
erently. Why? Because more people died in India? Absolutely not.
2. The data clearly shows that number of deaths in Europe and North America is signi
fi
cantly greater
then in Asia excluding China. We must understand that total population living in Indian
subcontinent is greater then Europe and North America combined, still more people died due to
Covid in west then they did in South Asia. Now if more people died in west then how come more
Indian dead bodies were seen on TV? The answer to that question is simple. Dignity of Indian life
is less important then it is of western life. This clearly shows the racist nature of western media.
This is not a once in a blue moon incident. When Russia attacked Ukraine, CBS news
correspondent Charlie D’Agata said on air that Ukraine isn’t a place “like Iraq and Afghanistan,”
this is a “civilised” place.
Former deputy prosecutor general of Ukraine told the BBC, “It’s very emotional for me
because I see European people with blue eyes and blond hair being killed every day.”
Rather than saying how bad this was, the BBC journalist said, “I understand and respect
the emotion.”
Western media has been doing this since long and it’s time to call them out for their
hypocritical journalism standards.
