Based on discussions with our representative on ISO/TC 67/SC8, we will vote no on the appointment of Mr. Sergey
Baranov as the new ISO/TC 67/SC8. See comment.
5. There have been ongoing difficulties for some time in communication between the leadership of ISO TC67/SC8 and the
rest of SC8. Previous SC8 leadership changes have had no real effect on the workings of the subcommittee. Also, a
significant amount of time has passed since there was any real activity going on within SC8.

DS votes "NO" as the work would be severely hampered with a Russian leadership taking into consideration t he ISO SG’s
letter to members dated 8 March 2022 concerning the situation in Ukraine stated that: “all technical meetings under their
leadership have been postponed until further notice”.
Finland (SFS) Comment 2023-05-25

ISO has proclaimed that groups led by Russians cannot meet under their leadership.

Sweden (SIS) Comment 2023-05-10

Due to the political situation in the world (sanctions against certain countries) ISO/TC 67 has decided in the past to migrate
many WGs to IOGP. Is it the same for SC? it seems easier to have a chair who can attend to ISO/TC 67 SC 8 WGs
meetings.
United Kingdom (BSI) Comment 2023-05-22
11:10:34
GB does not support the appointment of a new SC 8 Chair from Russia who will not be able to fulfil many of the specified
responsibilities as listed in the ISO Directives, because meetings cannot be held under Russian chairmanship until further
notice.
United States (ANSI) Comment 2023-05-30
16:24:53
“While Mr. Baranov appears to be qualified for this position, the U.S. has concerns about Russia’s ability to effectively
lead the subcommittee given the imposition of international sanctions resulting from the situation in Ukraine.”
