This collage is formed from newspaper headlines and images of war,
pollution and famine. In a flurry of chaos, the focal point lies with a
single thought evoking question: When destructive behaviors
continue, the damages become irreversible - can we still remain
fearless when hope seems so far from our grasp?

Inspired by artist Peng Wei, I drew on the aesthetic of decaying materials to represent a loss of purity. I painted
white lilacs on broken plaster molds of hands. Seeing that white lilacs symbolize purity and the gradient of ink
from dark to light implies corruption taking over. As darkness slowly dominates, the lilacs are lightly painted with
brown – like a final kiss of death.

These are a series of pieces painted with the freestyle Chinese painting technique. Traditional
Chinese illustrations depict bamboo, plum blossoms, and shrimp that are known to carry good
omen, and are presented as special gifts to give blessing or gratitude. These images not only
showcase the talent of the artist, but also present the artist's kinship with their heritage.
