Theodore is discover in his daily routine making an edition of a letter with a technologic
system, that is his work, handwrite letters for unknown people, some persons that he
habituated with the pass of time, he write so many letters for them that Theodore arrive to a
knowledge of details.
The film starts showing Theodore in the modern building of handsletters.com, a colleague
expresses his admiration for Theodore works, about the capacity of write with rhyme, but
Theodore respond that are only letters.
From the beginning of the movie, subtlety there is a way to the poetry so presents in the
images of memories and happy moments of Theodore life. Samantha is an operative system of
artificial intelligence, that introduces herself as an intuitive identity be able to listen,
understand, know Theodore and to develop herself. When Theodore make a question about
the cognitive speed of Samantha and describe it as strange, she replies about her intuition
according the ADN of the people who made the program of SO1.
There´s a central concept in the movie that is the continuous evolution of humans and
operative systems and from this main idea come off different aspects about information and
sense associated with technology, emotional capacity, interpersonal abilities and skills.
The film is a kind of semiology consideration and existentialist reflection about the emotions,
the feelings, the passions, the human’s relations and the loneliness.
From the begging of the film, it show the main character, Theodore, in constant relations with
the technology, he checks emails, notices, pending matters by an informatic system. Also, the
edition of the letter is made by informatic systems. The scenes reflect the presence of
technology, the philosophy, the art and the modernity.
There´s a first existential moment that happened when Theodore says to Samantha that she
doesn’t know what is to lose someone important. When Theodore remember his past the
aesthetic of the film change and get deep in the shiny spaces, the memories come warm, soft
and brilliants. The codes of the Theodore’s memories are sparkling and shining.
Day by day, the relationship of Samantha and Theodore is getting stronger, he share the
exterior space and the perceptions of the people with her. Theodore says that the better thing
is to see the people walking around and imagine how deeply they fall in love and been
disappointment.
There is a remarkable moment when Samantha, after experiment the perceptions of the word
showed by Theodore, talk about the experience of wake up, like a wish of experience with
passion into the world.

Samantha is an identity of artificial intelligence without body, and she have been develop

Samantha allude to personal thoughts that she is feeling and living and says that experience is
becoming in much more that the initial programming, so in that stage she make a relevant
question to Theodore: How is to be alive in that room in a particular moment. Samantha turns
to Theodore and ask about his feelings and thoughts as human being. She wants to know
about the human mind.
Return into the conversation, the ability of memory, the possibility of the memories and the
absence experimented by the persons. Theodore says to Samantha: sometimes I feel that I
have felt everything and I´ll feel ever the same, and in the future I´m not going to feel
something new, just little versions of the old feelings.
Is interesting how Samantha look to Theodore, from her sight he is living a darkness and
intense moment, and for this reason he doesn´t perceive exactly how is everything. Samantha
give to Theodore another reality, she says about the real feeling of him, how she seen
Theodore be surprise by the existence and be astonish by the things. Samantha shows to
Theodore some reality of his feelings. She replies to him: the past is the history we tell us, and
again come back the aspects of the memory.
Theodore shows Samantha the functions of the word and help to develop her in several
aspects like music, art, write. In the evolution the change are gradually, and is interesting the
way the philosophy is introduced in a main moment of the film in the character of a
philosopher, Alan Watts, who is an intervention between Theodore and Samantha, the
connection of the human level and artificial intelligence.
This film is like a reflection about the human behaviors, the technology, the interpersonal
relationships and the evolution. And some beauty manifestations in a musical photography, in
the presence of the handwrite letters and in the drawing; the conjunction of Samantha and
