2. ACTION GENRE
Action film is a film genre where one or
more heroes is put into a series of
challenges that require physical
feats, extended fights and frenetic chases.
They occasionally have a resourceful
character struggling against incredible
odds such as, life-threatening
situations, an evil villain, and/or being
chased in several ways of transportation
(car, bus, truck, etc.), with victory achieved
at the end after difficult physical efforts and
violence. The hero in always tends to be in
love a woman, and in some cases the
villain uses that to his advantage by using
her against him. Story and character
development are generally secondary to
explosions, fist fights, gunplay and car
chases. An example of film in this genre is
the incredible hulk produced by Warner
Bros.
3. ROMANTIC COMEDY GENRE
Romantic comedy films are films with light-
hearted, humorous plotlines, centered on
romantic ideals such as that true love is able
to surmount most obstacles.
In a typical romantic comedy the two lovers
tend to be young, likeable, and apparently
meant for each other, yet they are kept apart
by some complicating circumstance
(e.g., class differences, parental
interference; a previous girlfriend or
boyfriend) until, surmounting all
obstacles, they are finally wed. A wedding-
bells, fairy-tale-style happy ending is
practically mandatory. A good
example, would be knocked up produced by
Apatow productions.
4. THRILLER GENRE
Thriller is a broad genre of literature, film,
and television programming that uses
suspense, tension and excitement as the
main elements.[1] Thrillers heavily
stimulate the viewer's moods giving them a
high level of anticipation, ultra-heightened
expectation, uncertainty, surprise, anxiety
and/or terror. Thriller films tend to be
adrenaline-rushing, gritty, rousing and fast-
paced. Literary devices such as red
herrings, plot twists and cliffhangers are
used extensively. A thriller is villain-driven
plot, whereby he or she presents obstacles
that the hero must overcome. A good
example of a film in this genre is Salt.
5. DRAMA GENRE
A drama film is a film genre that depends
mostly on in-depth development of realistic
characters dealing with emotional themes.
Dramatic themes such as alcoholism, drug
addiction, infidelity, moral dilemmas, racial
prejudice, religious
intolerance, poverty, class
divisions, violence against women and
corruption put the characters in conflict with
themselves, others, society and even
natural phenomena. Drama is the most
broad of movies genres and includes
subgenres as romantic drama, sport
films, period drama, courtroom drama and
