Essay #1 Describe a challenging experience in your life and what you learned from it. · I had two big challenges in my life. My first challenge was moving from China to Chile when I was fourteen, it was the biggest change in my life, left behind my family, my friends and start from the beginning in a new country with different culture and language. From the start I felt lonely it was hard for me to learn the language Spanish, I couldn’t communicate with people, I was frustrated, I felt sad and most of the time I was bullied, but that didn’t stop me, I didn’t want to be that girl that everyone feel sorry about. In that time all my focus was on dancing, dancing was the only thing that I feel that I was good at, that no matter what circumstances change around you, dancing always made me happy and at times my single form of expression. When I was sixteen I challenged myself to participate in a dancing and singing TV show competition on National TV of Chile called “ Rojo Fama Contra Fama”. I did the casting with no expectations or hopes that I had any chance of being selected. The language difference and the lack of support from my family were the main causes of my self-doubt. I was certain I wasn’t good enough, but then the unexpected happened, I got a call back!! From millions of people, they called me back, me. I was overwhelmed and honored to get the opportunity, I shocked everyone even myself and got second place in the competition. I felt like a winner in many aspects; I made lots of friends; I experienced a great new culture, it opened the doors to new opportunities that I couldn’t imagine in my wildest dreams. I realized that no matter what difficulties, frustrations, disappointments, highs and lows that hit you in life, if you persist don’t give up on what you want there is nothing that can stop you the sky is the limit. Essay #2 What are your interests and career goals? · I have many interests but my true passion is for dancing, ever since I was a little girl I dreamed of a life where I would be on the stage performing. I live to dance the way it makes me feel is one that is indescribable nothing can match that feeling. My ultimate career dream is to master all forms of dancing known to man and then once I have accomplished that I will create my own style of dance.
