RE: Letter of Reference for Wang Xue Yu(王雪瑜)
To whom it may concern:
I can confirm that Wang Xue Yu carried out an internship between 26th
November 2012 and 1st
March 2013 with Atkins (China) as part of our Landscape team in Beijing. While working with our
team, Wang Xue Yu was able to work closely on several projects and gained valuable experience
working on a landscape master plan for Hebei Media Institute, Wangzhou Residential
development and Marriot resort in Haitang Bay, Hainan.
While in our employ, Wang Xue Yu made an excellent performance out of my expectation and
thus left a deep impression on me. Even if she left our company, we still kept frequent contact
with each other. When hearing of her intention of furthering study abroad, I highly support her
decision, in the hope that this letter of recommendation will be of help for her application.
During the work, Wang Xue Yu took delight in putting forward her opinions and cherished unique
thoughts in design. In the scheme review of the project of Hebei Institute of Communications, I let
everyone present his/her own idea about the project, and Wang Xue Yu expressed her doubt
about the unreasonable aspects in the scheme and put forward detailed improving suggestion,
which won praise from me and other senior designers. In fact, in the earlier stage of conceptual
2. design, Wang Xue Yu had very outstanding performance. In Hebei Media Institute Project, since
there are two teaching buildings connected with a featured covered bridge in the main square,
she took advantage of the passive space under the bridge and designed a space taking dynasty
as the narrative logic and media symbol as the main body, which was really impressive. What’s
more, during the designing process of the area of “Qin, Han, Tang, Ming and Qing Dynasty and
campus logo, she proposed many creative thoughts. For example, she used the expression
technique of Chinese monochromes to form miniature landscape in the enclosed space of Tang
Dynasty, chose furniture as the main part and people as audience to achieve Ming and Qing
Dynasty grand stage by half-surrounding space design, and selected the caissons on the top of
the palace as pattern and inlayed them into glass to form colorful pattern from projection on the
earth through solar reflection in the area of Qing Dynasty.
In addition to her creative ideas, Wang Xue Yu is very diligence. In the report stage of the project,
party A raised their questions about the details of the space. In order to prove the feasibility of the
scheme, Wang Xue Yu put forward to make a model to solve this problem, and spent two days
making it in the model-making room without heating installation. Seeing her hard work, I was
greatly moved by her professional ethics.
As I have mentioned, Wang Xue Yu has outstanding communication skills. With good spoken
English, she often served as a “free” interpreter to make a communication bridge for Chinese and
foreign designer. Her contribution as part of the team was very much appreciated and I can
commend her to you has an honest and trustworthy employee who went above and beyond our
expectations of a Landscape Intern. Should any further information be needed, please do not
hesitate to contact me.
Kind regards,
He Ning
