Example Of Visual Analysis Paper
Images have mystic powers: the ability to elicit emotions from human consciousness, inspire others to take action, and take a moment to contemplate
the scene displayed before us. The most striking emotions are those we feel the least; fear, helplessness, and anger. Humans struggle to cope with
these sentiments by ourselves, so we experience empathy when we notice others going through psychological pain. A visual posted in the CCC
shows a troubled man pointing his index finger and a firearm towards the back of another man's head. The victim has a wire tie around his neck,
which also keeps the firearm secured in place while law enforcement personnel and members of the press stand in the background, watching the slow
horror. This visual makes a powerful statement about the emotions of sadness, rage, regret, and guilt; all shed a small ray of light upon individuality
and the complexity of the human condition. Its images show a man who looks as if he's been pushed to his...show more content...
The photo's stark images support this position. For example, the law enforcement personnel have wide eyes tracking the firearm, there are reporters
writing notes on small paper pads, the victim's face is tight, the assaulter's face seems indecisive, and microphones are pointed toward the scene hoping
to catch a comment for the headlines. A note that accompanies the photo states the high stakes negotiation for the victim's life lasted three days before
the assaulter finally agreed to turn himself in. The victim had caused the assaulter to go bankrupt after foiling a business plan with a hefty loan to
repay. The loan repayment was impossible to meet, thus a hostage situation occurred. Still, the impact on its audience is likely to be interpreted as a
madman Hell–bent on causing some type of disruption. In some form, this goal had been

How To Write A Visual Analysis Essay
Anyone who struggles with making choices knows how hard it is to make the right choice. Everyday people struggle because of the choices they
make in order to correct their life. In fact, it makes people nervous because they have the weight of the world on their shoulder. This shows that
even the small choices the woman makes can lead her to hardships in her life. The image uses lighting, speech, and stance to appeal to the audience's
feelings. For example the lighting used in this image shows that the woman appears to finally see things clearly. The road resembles the path way
that will keep her on the right track. The sidewalk resembles the pathway to darkness that shall misguide her to a path of no return. The sunshine
makes the audience feel hope because of it's warm embrace. It can also make the audience feel overwhelmed and pressured with the lighting hitting
directly in her face. She's seems as if she's carrying the world on her shoulder and...show more content...

make her stronger. Also, woman had to find her inner strength to also believe in herself to make her decision. Therefore, the posture this woman
shows in this image she's focused and cautious. In this image the woman seems to be lost because she's staring in the distance. The woman also
shows that she's focused on something in the distance. The woman shows by her face expression that she's being cautious on what path way to take.

I think the most effective way of learning for me is visual learning. It is the easiest way for me to learn things. I think that academic honesty is of
the most educational philosophies because it allows trust between the student and the teacher. I wish that I had better work ethic but I usually
procrastinate on my work. Even when I procrastinate I always get my work done on time. I am a shy person and I don't really like participating in
class discussions. I also don't really asking questions or sharing ideas with the class because I guess I'm just not that type of person that does that.

The theme of my painting is the feeling of being lost in thoughts. I choose to paint the image because it describe a girl being confused or lost without
showing her face. When people imagine a girl setting in front of a beautiful view like the sunset behind a mountains, they imagine her face relaxed or
smiling. However, I wanted the audience to think differently when looking at the painting. The position of the girl with her shoulder crouched down to
give the hint that she could be thinking or looking at the water. Adding the ocean with the waves could describe the girl thoughts or it could simply
show that the ocean makes the girl think clearly. I choose the ocean because it's my favorite view to go when I'm feeling down. I added the view...show

I choose oil painting as media for my painting because I like colors I could create with it. When I choose the colors of the sunset, I had to make the
main source of light was coming from the sunset. I used yellow orange color on the green mountains to reflect the colors of the sunset to show the
distance of the mountains and to add texture. Adding trees to the mountains added texture to the mountains and made them standout. I choose to
have the color of the water reflected from the sky colors. I also added a hind of green to show reflection of the trees. The waves of the ocean have a
similar light shade of the sunset which created a peaceful view on the eye. With choosing brown as the color of the rocks surrounding the girl
balances the composition of the main rock that the girl sitting on. Also, by having part of the main rock under the water, it draws more attention to
girl. Drawing the girl with warm colors to make her the main focus in the painting makes her the first thing that draw the viewer eye. Color plays a
big part on emotional effect similar to the painting "The Scream" by Edvard Munch. Although, my painting is not showing the face of the girl, I feel
like the choosing of the colors is similar. In The Scream, Edvard Munch uses orange, red, and blue to draw the sunset. Also, he give the water a
reflection of the sky. The difference between his painting and my painting, I

Advertising has become one of the most powerful and effective tools that business uses to launch and brand products. Advertising is a form of
communication used to persuade an audience to take some action with respect to products, ideas, or services. Everyday we are surrounded by
advertisements, influencing us to make different purchases without our mind even realizing how much they really affect us. Advertising is available in
many different mediums and communicated across many different forums. Of all of the forms of advertising, visual advertising has proven to be one

"We know moms struggle to get their kids to eat well, and we believe our message provides a reminder that the taste of Hidden Valley Ranch has
the power to encourage kids to eat their vegetables" ("New Hidden Valley Ad"). A recent study at the University of California shows that kids ate 23
percent more vegetables when paired with a moderate amount of ranch dressing ("New Hidden Valley Ad"). This visual advertisement published in
multiple target advertising markets such as the June 2008 volume of Good Housekeeping periodical targets parents, especially moms, who worry
about their children's diets, constantly struggling to get their kids to eat enough vegetables (Hidden Valley). Hidden Valley uses a common
photography strategy in the advertisement known as encapsulation. "Encapsulation is a classic technique used to hijack your visitor's eyes and create
a tunnel vision effect, preventing your eye from wondering somewhere else in the photo" (Gardner). Hidden Valley creates the picture in a way that
makes you look at the ranch being used on the broccoli, almost as if making your eyes focus in on that particular spot. The ad uses association to
connect the viewer to the message of the ad. "When advertisers use association, they attempt to associate their product with the people, values and
lifestyles depicted in the ads. Associations are positive and

Example Of An Art Analysis
This was an art analysis paper that I composed for my AP World History class in my 11th grade year. For this assignment, we were asked to review
an artistic, three dimensional piece that we would ultimately develop an analysis paper for. We were given the whole day at the art museum to
pick our piece(s) as well as write all of the information we could about it. In this case, I chose to do my analysis paper on a set of Buddhist
ornaments used to decorate the famed Buddha in ancient religion. Our goal for the paper was simple: complete a one page concise paper using the
information we collected, as well as our background knowledge, about the motives and expressions behind the artwork. From doing this paper, and this

Vogue Magazine's advertisement plays on the American subconscious and what it means to be attractive. The primary visual element of the
advertisement, the centered photograph, focuses on contrast to catch the eye. This concept of contrast does not remain tethered to the visual aspect of
the photograph. The ad manipulates understood societal norms and conventions of human perfection to make ad convincing. VogueMagazine
capitalizes on dramatized visual and seductive textual elements to send its message about beauty or attractiveness.
This ad attempts to state the beauty ideals of both men and women, but interestingly acknowledges the polar aspects of what American society labels
as desirable. The basic story told by this ad expands...show more content...

such as strength, power, and prestige are all captured in this snapshot. The man depicts the American ideal. However, the woman he stands coupled
with also represents the American ideal, yet she contrast him in every aspect from demeanor to appearance. She's slender, fresh, and seems obliviously
carefree. Gisele lacks the rippling muscles and authoritative pose that the athlete has because the American societal position of woman has also
remained deeply influenced by the warrior story. The woman doesn't fit into the mold of warrior as her male counterpart did, instead she holds a closer

Browsing through old photographs can re–ignite memories of people, places and times that have slipped into the past, quietly and unnoticed. This
particular photograph captured a moment in time when all six women were gathered together. By paying attention to detail, a keen observer notices not
only the group of women, but can also possibly decipher their relationship to each other as well as unveil the emotional bond among the group.
At first glance, one notices the visual content of the photograph. The women are gathered together in front of a wall. The wall is chartreuse in colour
with light flooding the left side while plunging the far right side into light shadow and is adorned with a muted lilac and gold painting of a pear along

Visual Analysis: Elements Of Design

Exercise #1 Visual Analysis
TASK 1: ELEMENTS OF DESIGN
1st Element Name: Line
Definition of Element: Has a start point and an end point. They can be of any length, shape or size, and can go in any direction. This photo is an
example of the element Line, because every mark on the picture has a beginning and an end, and they are of different sizes, shapes, angles, and are
going in different directions.
2nd Element Name: Colour
Definition of Element: Property of light that is visible to the human eye. Colour comes in many different varieties, and brightness. This picture is a
great representation of the element Colour, because it shows a lot of the colour spectrum, and there is not one thing in the picture that doesn't have
colour.
3rd Element...show more content...
Space: Cake platforms are located equal distances from each other, not allowing crowding.
The colours of the icing are very neutral with a few lightly saturated decorations and toppings. At first glance, your eye wants to look around the
outside of the cakes before the inside to see the different designs before looking at the simply decorated cakes.
ANALYSIS: PRINCIPLES
Variety: Every cake has a different icing or decoration design on them. Only two cakes are similar to each other.
Balance: Asymmetrical. The platforms of the cake are evenly spaced from each other throughout thepainting. Front and back row are balanced evenly
on either side of the middle row with the same amount of platters.
The elements and principles in this piece function by colour used to emphasis icing design. The light background really allows the variety of cakes to
be viewed easily.

Visual Analysis Paper
In order to properly analysis a graph, one has to consider all aspects of the visual analysis. Cooper, Heron & Heward (2007) states that a person has
to "determine (a) the number of data points, (b) the nature and extent of variability in the data, (c) the absolute and relative level of the behavioral
measure, and (d) the direction and degree of any trend(s) in the data" (p.150). Trend level (c) and variability (b) are the two visual analysis that this
paper will focus on. It's imperative that a researcher consider the importance of variability because this shows how much control they have over the
factors that influence the behavior. In this particular graph, there is a high degree of variability. In the baseline data, the duration of the...show more

For example, by looking at the graph on the treatment side, one would believe that the treatment or intervention isn't effective because of the spikes in
duration of crying compared to the baseline. In the baseline, the total duration of all the days of crying is 90 minutes. For the treatment days it's 93
minutes. This would cause anyone to believe that the treatment intervention is not effective because the amount of minutes the child spend crying
increased. However, there can be another answer for the increase or spikes in duration of crying. Another variable such as the dad or mom left the
house to go spend time with a friend and left the child with a babysitter or any possible thing could have cost the spike in crying. With an A–B design
graph, one would truly never know. There is no way to see if there is a functional relationship or not. Without that, individuals don't know if the
treatment was the reason for the particular data or not. Prediction, verification, and replication are the necessary elements to prove a steady state
strategy (Cooper et al., 2007) however with A–B graph, it's impossible to have these elements. There's an inability to actually distinguish the

Theme: To describe theme in my video I used numerous pictures and a song that was done by Nirvana in the 90's since that is the main character's
favorite band. For instance, I used the blonde girl rocking the headphones because Nico has blonde hair and loves music. I used the worn out Chuck
Taylor shoes because that's how the character feels, pulled in every direction and tired. The picture of Kurt Cobain displays a lot of things, one of them
being that the story is advertently surrounded around him, and his band.
Mood: The picture of the girl in her flannel shirt displays some mood, along with character. It can be sunny in Victoria, British Columbia, but it
isn't likely. The sad young girl holding a teddy bear creates a dark place which is a big part of the book since Nico lost her mother. The dark forest
symbolizes the scary journey that Nico went on to find her mom. The picture of Kurt has mood in itself; he looks sad, and it seems as if he is trying
to tell you something without speaking. The Incesticide album cover creates a depressed, artistic tone to the video. The Pixies' album cover also

her preferred shoe type. She dyed her hair blue when she went to visit her Aunt, for something sporadic and new. On her journey she has a walk
through the woods, that is what the mucky boots represent. Her dad has orange hair and is really laid back. Her mom had a friend, and when Nico
went to visit her she encountered her daughter instead, hence the girl in the pink

After graduating from The University of North Dakota, I took a year off to focus on making art and preparing for graduate schools. This next step
would be best right now because although I have been passionate and worked hard I have yet to be fully engulfed in a community of like minded
individuals. At this developmental point I would excel through the challenges, guidance and insight that the ____ program delivers. Art that causes
turbulence for a viewer is great for motivating them to ask questions. Questions underlie my images that discuss themes of fetishistic obsession,
manipulative powers of beauty, and the intricacies of attraction and relationships. A sarcastic or humorous edge is often used in these images of
excess, through the combination of the beautiful and grotesque. Sometimes I try to make the image attractive at first glance, so viewers approach the
image then may be repelled by its subject matter. After trying to break the fourth wall in the paintings such as, "It's Not What It Looks Like" and
"How's the View," the viewer is asked for judgement regarding the figures' unabashed desires. As seen in paintings with different themes like "spaghetti

This memo examines the strengths and weaknesses of my presentation on March 19, 2010. In addition, the memo discusses my goals for improvement
in future presentations as well as a review of Aly Sherali's presentation.
Presentation Strengths
My organization, voice, and passion were all strong points of my presentation. This allowed me to effectively engage my audience and convey my
content in an efficient and logical way.
Organization
Tim Koegel, author of The Exceptional Presenter, explains that there are two essential facets of organizing a presentation: developing a structure that
allows you to frame your objective and cover your material smoothly, and looking organized to your audience (Koegel, 31–32). I structured my slides

Even if a presenter is the leading authority on a topic, being unprepared can signal the opposite to the audience and cause them to disengage before
the presentation even starts (Koegel, 45). I arrived to the venue early, made sure my presentation was easily accessible, and checked to see if my slides
worked correctly on the computer. This allowed me to efficiently and confidently lead off my presentation and ensure that I could capture the
audience's attention.
Voice
The voice is a valuable tool to becoming an exceptional presenter (Koegel, 84). I used my voice as an effective asset throughout my presentation. My
volume was at an effective level throughout the presentation and sounded confident. I also employed inflection in my voice on key points to maintain
audience attention. According to studies, eighty–four percent of the impact you have comes from your voice, not your words. I was very careful to
avoid monotone voice, which significantly shortens the attention span of an audience (Koegel, 84). I also took great care to eliminate any "verbal
graffiti" as Koegel refers to it. Verbal graffiti is any non–essential "filler" words that distract the audience and dilute your impact (Koegel, 87). I
practiced my presentation many times and was confident enough with the material that I did not fill my pauses with any filler words. I stayed focused
on my content, which helped my audience to do

fact that an orange or a green has not just that solid color, but also blues and greens that hide in the orange along with the yellows and pinks that hide
within the green. The concept of overlaying colors upon another gives depth through shadow and highlight illusions and Van Gogh does this brilliantly
here in this painting. Although the Starry Night is considered the masterpiece and has a fame noted to all, this painting, The Cypress and the Star, has a
quality that seemed to grow from Van Goh's past artwork and has many interesting comparisons to the Starry

This photograph, taken in 1967 in the heart of the Vietnam War Protests, depicts different ideologies about how problems can be solved. In the
picture, which narrowly missed winning the Pulitzer Prize, a teen is seen poking carnations into the barrels of guns held by members of the US
National Guard. This moment, captured by photographer Bernie Boston symbolizes the flower power movement. Flower power is a phrase that
referred to the hippie notion of "make love not war", and the idea that love and nonviolence, such as the growing of flowers, was a better way to heal
the world than continued focus on capitalism and wars. The photograph can be analyzed through the elements of image as defined by 'The Little

The title, which could act as a form of narration, references the immense power held by this movement. This movement caught media attention and was
a monumental part of the counter–culture movement in America. The power of the so called 'flower children' during this time was influential in the
advancement of the civil rights movement. This title gives more power to the image and gives it more weight as an iconic image by shedding a
positive light on the movement.
The arrangement of this photograph is not manipulated which makes its message stronger. Instead, the photograph was captured as the event was
happening. This draws attention to the gravity of the impact of these protests. In the article, Preforming Civic Identity: The Iconic Photograph of the
Flag Raising on Iwo Jima, there is an emphasis on the importance of this type of arrangement; the description the arrangement of the iconic Iwo Jima

image can become a performance of war as a national event. By fusing a moment of military action with a sense of visual transparency, the photograph
creates a truth effect; this is the image through which the meaning of war can be seen" (Robert Hariman, John Louis Lucaites 372). This concept can

For the photograph that I took, I decided to follow Weston's theme and photograph an organic object with interesting features. I needed to find
something with a vivid texture so that the photograph could allow the viewer to almost feel what I could. I searched throughout my room until finally,
I found what I was looking for. It was a shell from the Pacific Ocean that I had brought back with me from Mexico. The shell had off–whites blended
into browns and reds. It also had ridges running from the origin of the shell, to the outside. I found the situation to be somewhat ironic considering that

edited the picture so that it would look black and white like the rest of Weston's photographs. I also added a little more contrast to the picture so
that the lines of the shell would look a tiny bit sharper because I wanted to make up for not having a 64 aperture. In my opinion, the photograph
holds a very close resemblance to Weston's pictures of shells in which he tried to capture all of their natural beauty. I like the way the photo turned

Art Analysis Essay
Though most works of art have some underlying, deeper meaning attached to them, our first impression of their significance comes through our initial
visual interpretation. When we first view a painting or a statue or other piece of art, we notice first the visual details – its size, its medium, its color,
and its condition, for example – before we begin to ponder its greater significance. Indeed, these visual clues are just as important as any other
interpretation or meaning of a work, for they allow us to understand just what that deeper meaning is. The expression on a statue's face tells us the
emotion and message that the artist is trying to convey. Its color, too, can provide clues: darker or lighter colors can play a role in how we...show more

The Stele depicts a simple scene: a seated man and standing woman behind him stare blankly straight ahead. A woman standing on the left looks
down upon them. All of them are ordinary humans. They are not gods or goddesses. They are private people. Their clothing is plain, consisting of
simple robes. It is representational of a regular family mourning the loss of one of its members, a scene that most people, even today, are able to relate
to hundreds or even thousands of years later.
The stele conveys a solemn forlornness that can be seen in the figures' faces. Their mouths are tightly shut; their eyes gaze blankly ahead. The woman
on the left stares ahead with little emotion on her face. The stele does not depict any motion. All of the figures are standing (or sitting) still, in quiet
memorial. This solemnity adds to the emotion of a grave where the stele once stood. There is no real clear answer as to who is being mourned. Are the
seated man and the woman mourning the loss of their daughter, on the left? Or is the woman on the left mourning the loss of a father? The sculpture's
ambiguity also adds to the emotion that it evokes. It might even be appropriate for its purpose. Its function was to mark a gravesite – the site of the
body of someone who has died. Death is one of the most complex parts of life. It is the most ambiguous, for nobody knows for sure what happens in
death. The ambiguity of the stele highlights

Example Of Visual Analysis Paper

  • 1. Example Of Visual Analysis Paper Images have mystic powers: the ability to elicit emotions from human consciousness, inspire others to take action, and take a moment to contemplate the scene displayed before us. The most striking emotions are those we feel the least; fear, helplessness, and anger. Humans struggle to cope with these sentiments by ourselves, so we experience empathy when we notice others going through psychological pain. A visual posted in the CCC shows a troubled man pointing his index finger and a firearm towards the back of another man's head. The victim has a wire tie around his neck, which also keeps the firearm secured in place while law enforcement personnel and members of the press stand in the background, watching the slow horror. This visual makes a powerful statement about the emotions of sadness, rage, regret, and guilt; all shed a small ray of light upon individuality and the complexity of the human condition. Its images show a man who looks as if he's been pushed to his...show more content... The photo's stark images support this position. For example, the law enforcement personnel have wide eyes tracking the firearm, there are reporters writing notes on small paper pads, the victim's face is tight, the assaulter's face seems indecisive, and microphones are pointed toward the scene hoping to catch a comment for the headlines. A note that accompanies the photo states the high stakes negotiation for the victim's life lasted three days before the assaulter finally agreed to turn himself in. The victim had caused the assaulter to go bankrupt after foiling a business plan with a hefty loan to repay. The loan repayment was impossible to meet, thus a hostage situation occurred. Still, the impact on its audience is likely to be interpreted as a madman Hell–bent on causing some type of disruption. In some form, this goal had been Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. How To Write A Visual Analysis Essay Anyone who struggles with making choices knows how hard it is to make the right choice. Everyday people struggle because of the choices they make in order to correct their life. In fact, it makes people nervous because they have the weight of the world on their shoulder. This shows that even the small choices the woman makes can lead her to hardships in her life. The image uses lighting, speech, and stance to appeal to the audience's feelings. For example the lighting used in this image shows that the woman appears to finally see things clearly. The road resembles the path way that will keep her on the right track. The sidewalk resembles the pathway to darkness that shall misguide her to a path of no return. The sunshine makes the audience feel hope because of it's warm embrace. It can also make the audience feel overwhelmed and pressured with the lighting hitting directly in her face. She's seems as if she's carrying the world on her shoulder and...show more content... In this picture fear seems to be a big problem in the girl's situation. The woman seems scared to make the wrong choice and suffer hardships in life just by making simple mistakes. This woman also shows relief because she looks as if she finally made a decision in which pathway to take to make her stronger. Also, woman had to find her inner strength to also believe in herself to make her decision. Therefore, the posture this woman shows in this image she's focused and cautious. In this image the woman seems to be lost because she's staring in the distance. The woman also shows that she's focused on something in the distance. The woman shows by her face expression that she's being cautious on what path way to take. She looks as if she has a big decision to make. This woman shows in her face expression she's being extremely careful with the choice she makes. She seems to be thinking about all the possibilities despite the outcomes in the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Visual Learning Analysis I think the most effective way of learning for me is visual learning. It is the easiest way for me to learn things. I think that academic honesty is of the most educational philosophies because it allows trust between the student and the teacher. I wish that I had better work ethic but I usually procrastinate on my work. Even when I procrastinate I always get my work done on time. I am a shy person and I don't really like participating in class discussions. I also don't really asking questions or sharing ideas with the class because I guess I'm just not that type of person that does that. My favorite subject in school has always been English. In elementary school I always liked writing short stories even if they weren't very good. When I was Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Visual Analysis Example The theme of my painting is the feeling of being lost in thoughts. I choose to paint the image because it describe a girl being confused or lost without showing her face. When people imagine a girl setting in front of a beautiful view like the sunset behind a mountains, they imagine her face relaxed or smiling. However, I wanted the audience to think differently when looking at the painting. The position of the girl with her shoulder crouched down to give the hint that she could be thinking or looking at the water. Adding the ocean with the waves could describe the girl thoughts or it could simply show that the ocean makes the girl think clearly. I choose the ocean because it's my favorite view to go when I'm feeling down. I added the view...show more content... I choose oil painting as media for my painting because I like colors I could create with it. When I choose the colors of the sunset, I had to make the main source of light was coming from the sunset. I used yellow orange color on the green mountains to reflect the colors of the sunset to show the distance of the mountains and to add texture. Adding trees to the mountains added texture to the mountains and made them standout. I choose to have the color of the water reflected from the sky colors. I also added a hind of green to show reflection of the trees. The waves of the ocean have a similar light shade of the sunset which created a peaceful view on the eye. With choosing brown as the color of the rocks surrounding the girl balances the composition of the main rock that the girl sitting on. Also, by having part of the main rock under the water, it draws more attention to girl. Drawing the girl with warm colors to make her the main focus in the painting makes her the first thing that draw the viewer eye. Color plays a big part on emotional effect similar to the painting "The Scream" by Edvard Munch. Although, my painting is not showing the face of the girl, I feel like the choosing of the colors is similar. In The Scream, Edvard Munch uses orange, red, and blue to draw the sunset. Also, he give the water a reflection of the sky. The difference between his painting and my painting, I Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Analysis of Visual Text Essay Advertising has become one of the most powerful and effective tools that business uses to launch and brand products. Advertising is a form of communication used to persuade an audience to take some action with respect to products, ideas, or services. Everyday we are surrounded by advertisements, influencing us to make different purchases without our mind even realizing how much they really affect us. Advertising is available in many different mediums and communicated across many different forums. Of all of the forms of advertising, visual advertising has proven to be one of the most successful. Graphic designers have the ability to put subtle references and innuendos into your mind by utilizing different fonts, colors, and visual points...show more content... "We know moms struggle to get their kids to eat well, and we believe our message provides a reminder that the taste of Hidden Valley Ranch has the power to encourage kids to eat their vegetables" ("New Hidden Valley Ad"). A recent study at the University of California shows that kids ate 23 percent more vegetables when paired with a moderate amount of ranch dressing ("New Hidden Valley Ad"). This visual advertisement published in multiple target advertising markets such as the June 2008 volume of Good Housekeeping periodical targets parents, especially moms, who worry about their children's diets, constantly struggling to get their kids to eat enough vegetables (Hidden Valley). Hidden Valley uses a common photography strategy in the advertisement known as encapsulation. "Encapsulation is a classic technique used to hijack your visitor's eyes and create a tunnel vision effect, preventing your eye from wondering somewhere else in the photo" (Gardner). Hidden Valley creates the picture in a way that makes you look at the ranch being used on the broccoli, almost as if making your eyes focus in on that particular spot. The ad uses association to connect the viewer to the message of the ad. "When advertisers use association, they attempt to associate their product with the people, values and lifestyles depicted in the ads. Associations are positive and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Example Of An Art Analysis This was an art analysis paper that I composed for my AP World History class in my 11th grade year. For this assignment, we were asked to review an artistic, three dimensional piece that we would ultimately develop an analysis paper for. We were given the whole day at the art museum to pick our piece(s) as well as write all of the information we could about it. In this case, I chose to do my analysis paper on a set of Buddhist ornaments used to decorate the famed Buddha in ancient religion. Our goal for the paper was simple: complete a one page concise paper using the information we collected, as well as our background knowledge, about the motives and expressions behind the artwork. From doing this paper, and this exercise in its entirety, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. A Visual Analysis Essay Visual Analysis Vogue Magazine's advertisement plays on the American subconscious and what it means to be attractive. The primary visual element of the advertisement, the centered photograph, focuses on contrast to catch the eye. This concept of contrast does not remain tethered to the visual aspect of the photograph. The ad manipulates understood societal norms and conventions of human perfection to make ad convincing. VogueMagazine capitalizes on dramatized visual and seductive textual elements to send its message about beauty or attractiveness. This ad attempts to state the beauty ideals of both men and women, but interestingly acknowledges the polar aspects of what American society labels as desirable. The basic story told by this ad expands...show more content... He's skilled, accomplished, wealthy, and literally larger than life. He bares the status as one of the best in a field not many can survive and prosper in. He's adorned in brooding colors and stands suspended in a position of action. His face epitomizes the aggression and power the modern–day warrior. His high status becomes clear to the viewer when the idealistic woman rests within his grasp. All of these desired attributes of masculinity such as strength, power, and prestige are all captured in this snapshot. The man depicts the American ideal. However, the woman he stands coupled with also represents the American ideal, yet she contrast him in every aspect from demeanor to appearance. She's slender, fresh, and seems obliviously carefree. Gisele lacks the rippling muscles and authoritative pose that the athlete has because the American societal position of woman has also remained deeply influenced by the warrior story. The woman doesn't fit into the mold of warrior as her male counterpart did, instead she holds a closer connection to the poised, elegant mold of royalty or noble upbringing. She represents the trophy that men can hope to obtain through hard work and accomplishment. In today's American Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Visual Analysis Examples Browsing through old photographs can re–ignite memories of people, places and times that have slipped into the past, quietly and unnoticed. This particular photograph captured a moment in time when all six women were gathered together. By paying attention to detail, a keen observer notices not only the group of women, but can also possibly decipher their relationship to each other as well as unveil the emotional bond among the group. At first glance, one notices the visual content of the photograph. The women are gathered together in front of a wall. The wall is chartreuse in colour with light flooding the left side while plunging the far right side into light shadow and is adorned with a muted lilac and gold painting of a pear along with two vertical paintings of golden sunflowers on burgundy backdrops. The six women are divided into two groups, three in the back and three in the front. The three women in the...show more content... One area to focus on is the proximity of the group in relation to each other. They are standing shoulder to shoulder, with the olderwoman draped affectionately across the shoulders of the one standing directly beside her. The group is nestled closely together and exude an aura of comfort with this positioning. All of the women are smiling, although their smiles are unique, belying their individual personalities. In general, three of them have broad, open smiles while the other three display a closed lip smile thereby appearing to be slightly more reserved. Without exception, the entire group demonstrates a twinkle in their eyes, indicating a shared sense of humor. A further indication of the many laughs this group has shared can be seen in the laugh lines crisscrossing their faces in the exact same places. Their easy comradery and apparent enjoyment in sharing the moment together indicates a family closeness and a true appreciation for each Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Visual Analysis: Elements Of Design Tessa McMillen Exercise #1 Visual Analysis TASK 1: ELEMENTS OF DESIGN 1st Element Name: Line Definition of Element: Has a start point and an end point. They can be of any length, shape or size, and can go in any direction. This photo is an example of the element Line, because every mark on the picture has a beginning and an end, and they are of different sizes, shapes, angles, and are going in different directions. 2nd Element Name: Colour Definition of Element: Property of light that is visible to the human eye. Colour comes in many different varieties, and brightness. This picture is a great representation of the element Colour, because it shows a lot of the colour spectrum, and there is not one thing in the picture that doesn't have colour. 3rd Element...show more content... Space: Cake platforms are located equal distances from each other, not allowing crowding. The colours of the icing are very neutral with a few lightly saturated decorations and toppings. At first glance, your eye wants to look around the outside of the cakes before the inside to see the different designs before looking at the simply decorated cakes. ANALYSIS: PRINCIPLES Variety: Every cake has a different icing or decoration design on them. Only two cakes are similar to each other. Balance: Asymmetrical. The platforms of the cake are evenly spaced from each other throughout thepainting. Front and back row are balanced evenly on either side of the middle row with the same amount of platters.

  • 11. Visual Analysis Paper In order to properly analysis a graph, one has to consider all aspects of the visual analysis. Cooper, Heron & Heward (2007) states that a person has to "determine (a) the number of data points, (b) the nature and extent of variability in the data, (c) the absolute and relative level of the behavioral measure, and (d) the direction and degree of any trend(s) in the data" (p.150). Trend level (c) and variability (b) are the two visual analysis that this paper will focus on. It's imperative that a researcher consider the importance of variability because this shows how much control they have over the factors that influence the behavior. In this particular graph, there is a high degree of variability. In the baseline data, the duration of the...show more content... For example, by looking at the graph on the treatment side, one would believe that the treatment or intervention isn't effective because of the spikes in duration of crying compared to the baseline. In the baseline, the total duration of all the days of crying is 90 minutes. For the treatment days it's 93 minutes. This would cause anyone to believe that the treatment intervention is not effective because the amount of minutes the child spend crying increased. However, there can be another answer for the increase or spikes in duration of crying. Another variable such as the dad or mom left the house to go spend time with a friend and left the child with a babysitter or any possible thing could have cost the spike in crying. With an A–B design graph, one would truly never know. There is no way to see if there is a functional relationship or not. Without that, individuals don't know if the treatment was the reason for the particular data or not. Prediction, verification, and replication are the necessary elements to prove a steady state strategy (Cooper et al., 2007) however with A–B graph, it's impossible to have these elements. There's an inability to actually distinguish the experimental effect from other possible Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Distinctively Visual Analysis Essay Theme: To describe theme in my video I used numerous pictures and a song that was done by Nirvana in the 90's since that is the main character's favorite band. For instance, I used the blonde girl rocking the headphones because Nico has blonde hair and loves music. I used the worn out Chuck Taylor shoes because that's how the character feels, pulled in every direction and tired. The picture of Kurt Cobain displays a lot of things, one of them being that the story is advertently surrounded around him, and his band. Mood: The picture of the girl in her flannel shirt displays some mood, along with character. It can be sunny in Victoria, British Columbia, but it isn't likely. The sad young girl holding a teddy bear creates a dark place which is a big part of the book since Nico lost her mother. The dark forest symbolizes the scary journey that Nico went on to find her mom. The picture of Kurt has mood in itself; he looks sad, and it seems as if he is trying to tell you something without speaking. • 13. Visual Analysis Essay Sample After graduating from The University of North Dakota, I took a year off to focus on making art and preparing for graduate schools. This next step would be best right now because although I have been passionate and worked hard I have yet to be fully engulfed in a community of like minded individuals. At this developmental point I would excel through the challenges, guidance and insight that the ____ program delivers. Art that causes turbulence for a viewer is great for motivating them to ask questions. Questions underlie my images that discuss themes of fetishistic obsession, manipulative powers of beauty, and the intricacies of attraction and relationships. A sarcastic or humorous edge is often used in these images of excess, through the combination of the beautiful and grotesque. Sometimes I try to make the image attractive at first glance, so viewers approach the image then may be repelled by its subject matter. After trying to break the fourth wall in the paintings such as, "It's Not What It Looks Like" and "How's the View," the viewer is asked for judgement regarding the figures' unabashed desires. As seen in paintings with different themes like "spaghetti Dinner" and "The...show more content... Trenton Doyle Hancock has been a big influence with his use of scale, materials, narrative, and figural representation. • 14. Presentation Analysis Essay examples This memo examines the strengths and weaknesses of my presentation on March 19, 2010. In addition, the memo discusses my goals for improvement in future presentations as well as a review of Aly Sherali's presentation. Presentation Strengths My organization, voice, and passion were all strong points of my presentation. This allowed me to effectively engage my audience and convey my content in an efficient and logical way. Organization Tim Koegel, author of The Exceptional Presenter, explains that there are two essential facets of organizing a presentation: developing a structure that allows you to frame your objective and cover your material smoothly, and looking organized to your audience (Koegel, 31–32). I structured my slides and...show more content... Even if a presenter is the leading authority on a topic, being unprepared can signal the opposite to the audience and cause them to disengage before the presentation even starts (Koegel, 45). I arrived to the venue early, made sure my presentation was easily accessible, and checked to see if my slides worked correctly on the computer. This allowed me to efficiently and confidently lead off my presentation and ensure that I could capture the audience's attention. Voice The voice is a valuable tool to becoming an exceptional presenter (Koegel, 84). I used my voice as an effective asset throughout my presentation. My volume was at an effective level throughout the presentation and sounded confident. I also employed inflection in my voice on key points to maintain audience attention. According to studies, eighty–four percent of the impact you have comes from your voice, not your words. I was very careful to avoid monotone voice, which significantly shortens the attention span of an audience (Koegel, 84). I also took great care to eliminate any "verbal graffiti" as Koegel refers to it. Verbal graffiti is any non–essential "filler" words that distract the audience and dilute your impact (Koegel, 87). I practiced my presentation many times and was confident enough with the material that I did not fill my pauses with any filler words. I stayed focused on my content, which helped my audience to do

Example Of A Visual Analysis Essay In a letter that was written, but not sent for unknown reasons, to Gauguin, van Gogh stated, "I still have a cypress with a star from down there, a last attempt– a night sky with a moon without radiance, the slender crescent barely emerging from the opaque shadow cast by the earth– one star with an exaggerated brilliance, if you like, a soft brilliance of pink and green in the ultramarine sky, across which some clouds are hurrying" (Whitney 359). The cypress in the middle divides the canvas in half. On the left side of the tree, we have what Whitney describes as the star, Sirius. Sirius' brightness is over exaggerated with green and the slightest of pink. On the right of the painting is the crescent moon that is does not have any moonlight, the dull orange of the inner curve of the moon draws the eye because of its limited...show more content... The grass contains mostly vertical and diagonal brushstrokes that give an action to suggest wind coming off the water just barely visible behind the plants. The viewers gaze towards the water leads us up to mountain ranges that lead the eye skyward along with the interesting repetition of the clouds above the mountains. Every color used for an item, such as the grass or cypress tree, has an overlaying of highlights that interests the viewer. It is in the fact that an orange or a green has not just that solid color, but also blues and greens that hide in the orange along with the yellows and pinks that hide within the green. The concept of overlaying colors upon another gives depth through shadow and highlight illusions and Van Gogh does this brilliantly here in this painting. Although the Starry Night is considered the masterpiece and has a fame noted to all, this painting, The Cypress and the Star, has a quality that seemed to grow from Van Goh's past artwork and has many interesting comparisons to the Starry Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. Visual Rhetorical Analysis Essay This photograph, taken in 1967 in the heart of the Vietnam War Protests, depicts different ideologies about how problems can be solved. In the picture, which narrowly missed winning the Pulitzer Prize, a teen is seen poking carnations into the barrels of guns held by members of the US National Guard. This moment, captured by photographer Bernie Boston symbolizes the flower power movement. Flower power is a phrase that referred to the hippie notion of "make love not war", and the idea that love and nonviolence, such as the growing of flowers, was a better way to heal the world than continued focus on capitalism and wars. The photograph can be analyzed through the elements of image as defined by 'The Little Brown Handbook' on page 86. There...show more content... The title, which could act as a form of narration, references the immense power held by this movement. This movement caught media attention and was a monumental part of the counter–culture movement in America. The power of the so called 'flower children' during this time was influential in the advancement of the civil rights movement. This title gives more power to the image and gives it more weight as an iconic image by shedding a positive light on the movement. The arrangement of this photograph is not manipulated which makes its message stronger. Instead, the photograph was captured as the event was happening. This draws attention to the gravity of the impact of these protests. In the article, Preforming Civic Identity: The Iconic Photograph of the Flag Raising on Iwo Jima, there is an emphasis on the importance of this type of arrangement; the description the arrangement of the iconic Iwo Jima photograph is "there is no hint that anyone is preforming for the camera". The authors go on the explain that the lack of acting in the photograph "the image can become a performance of war as a national event. By fusing a moment of military action with a sense of visual transparency, the photograph creates a truth effect; this is the image through which the meaning of war can be seen" (Robert Hariman, John Louis Lucaites 372). This concept can also explain the power of the 'Flower Power' image, and the message Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 19. Visual Analysis Paper Visual Analysis Paper This is an anti–smoking advertisement geared towards parents of young children. The advertisement is overall plain and simple; it gets straight to the point when you look at it and utilizes a dark theme. This anti–smoking advertisement is trying to evoke a sense of "parental guilt" into parents who smoke. The way the advertisement is able to do this is through the use of an optical illusion, use of text and the use of negative space. The first way the advertisement tries to evoke a sense of "parental guilt" into a parent is by utilizing an optical illusion. The optical illusion is created by placing a bag made out of smoke over a child's head. The way this makes parents feel guilty is by showing them that if...show more content... The third way the advertisement tries to evoke a sense of "parental guilt" into a parent is by utilizing negative space. All the content in the advertisement is surrounded by dark space, the background is all black. The negative space creates a sense of fear in a parent that if you smoke your child will fade away into the blackness. The negative space also evokes a sense of danger in a parent, like something is going to grab their child and pull them away from them if they keep smoking. Overall the advertisers who created this advertisement did a very good job. Through the use of an optical illusion, use of text and the use of negative space it sold the abstract emotion of "parental guilt" effectively. Many parents of young children who see this will look at it and will feel guilty about smoking and will most likely cause them to kick their bad habit of smoking for the sake of their children. Many people don't like to kick their bad habits because they don't have a strong reason to, they typically always need someone important to do it for and this advertisement shows parents of young children that your child is your biggest reason you should quit smoking, a child the most important person in a parent's life and they would be able to do anything to protect Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 20. Visual Analysis Essay Examples For the photograph that I took, I decided to follow Weston's theme and photograph an organic object with interesting features. I needed to find something with a vivid texture so that the photograph could allow the viewer to almost feel what I could. I searched throughout my room until finally, I found what I was looking for. It was a shell from the Pacific Ocean that I had brought back with me from Mexico. The shell had off–whites blended into browns and reds. It also had ridges running from the origin of the shell, to the outside. I found the situation to be somewhat ironic considering that Weston had lived in Mexico taking photographs, and also took pictures of shells. The camera that I used to photograph the shell was a Canon EOS Rebel ...show more content... Each ridge is visible and grows in size as it migrates from the origin to the edge, which shows how perfect and mathematical nature can be at times. The change in color pattern is also very visible. There is even a small chip in the shell can be seen at the top left corner. Some of the lint of the peacoat is visible in the picture, but it only gives enough so much as to emphasize the texture of the backdrop. When I went to print the picture, I edited the picture so that it would look black and white like the rest of Weston's photographs. I also added a little more contrast to the picture so that the lines of the shell would look a tiny bit sharper because I wanted to make up for not having a 64 aperture. In my opinion, the photograph holds a very close resemblance to Weston's pictures of shells in which he tried to capture all of their natural beauty. I like the way the photo turned out, but wish I could have had a better area to take the picture instead of laying on the ground and using books. The picture may have come out a hair more detailed if I would have had a tripod, but I don't think it made that big of a difference. I believe that I was able to try and replicate Weston's process to the best of my ability with the tools I Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 21. Art Analysis Essay Though most works of art have some underlying, deeper meaning attached to them, our first impression of their significance comes through our initial visual interpretation. When we first view a painting or a statue or other piece of art, we notice first the visual details – its size, its medium, its color, and its condition, for example – before we begin to ponder its greater significance. Indeed, these visual clues are just as important as any other interpretation or meaning of a work, for they allow us to understand just what that deeper meaning is. The expression on a statue's face tells us the emotion and message that the artist is trying to convey. Its color, too, can provide clues: darker or lighter colors can play a role in how we...show more content... The Stele depicts a simple scene: a seated man and standing woman behind him stare blankly straight ahead. A woman standing on the left looks down upon them. All of them are ordinary humans. They are not gods or goddesses. They are private people. Their clothing is plain, consisting of simple robes. It is representational of a regular family mourning the loss of one of its members, a scene that most people, even today, are able to relate to hundreds or even thousands of years later. The stele conveys a solemn forlornness that can be seen in the figures' faces. Their mouths are tightly shut; their eyes gaze blankly ahead. The woman on the left stares ahead with little emotion on her face. The stele does not depict any motion. All of the figures are standing (or sitting) still, in quiet memorial. This solemnity adds to the emotion of a grave where the stele once stood. There is no real clear answer as to who is being mourned. Are the seated man and the woman mourning the loss of their daughter, on the left? Or is the woman on the left mourning the loss of a father? The sculpture's ambiguity also adds to the emotion that it evokes. It might even be appropriate for its purpose. Its function was to mark a gravesite – the site of the body of someone who has died. Death is one of the most complex parts of life. It is the most ambiguous, for nobody knows for sure what happens in death. The ambiguity of the stele highlights Get more content on HelpWriting.net
