Exploring Bad Driving Habits
In this edition of The Driver's Daily, I interviewed three drivers; one who has been driving for less than two years, one who has been driving
between five to ten years, and one that has been driving for more than ten years. I asked them the following questions: a) Have you felt like you have
developed any bad driving habits? b) Have you made any attempt to break any bad habits? and c) What advice do you have for new drivers. The
results of this interview was rather interesting, and allowed me to analyze what a driver can do to overcome each bad habit that he or she mentioned.
First and foremost, the first driver that I interviewed was a man that has been driving for more than 10 years. He stated that his bad driving habit was
that he occasionally

Many drivers participate in reckless behavior behind the wheel. These behaviors can be demonstrated in even the shortest time frame of going
around the block. These behaviors are not only harmful to the drivers and passengers, but to the public as well. Most people are in a car with a
reckless driver at least once in their lifetime. Dangerous drivers destroy property and kill people at least once a day. Not only does this affect
passengers in the car and the driver and people in surrounding cars, but also Insurance companies are also extremely affected by reckless drivers.
These reckless drivers are not just the typical teen drivers whom everyone talks about. They are anyone who participates in any form of driving
that can put other's lives at risk. When it comes to younger drivers, their reckless driving mostly comes from the inexperience of driving in all
types of situations. They are also nine times more likely to be more dangerous on the road when their friends are in the car. This is because they
are more likely to distract the driver with things like music, snap chat videos, and school drama. When it comes to older drivers, they are more
likely to become reckless drivers because their reflexes are not as sharp. Another reason why older drivers are a risk to society is because they
become lazy behind the wheel, as it has become second nature to drive. Technology has also become an extreme factor in reckless driving. Cell phones
are now present in about nine out of

Distracted Driving: Improving Our Society
Driving is a skill and a necessity in today's society. As with everything that is designed to help people there are those who take advantage of it and
put others in danger. According to a study done by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (2017) some of the most dangerous driving
habits that occur in the United States are; speeding, distracted driving, and driving tired. To improve our society we need to focus on these habits and
try to break them. In doing so, it will make traveling by road much safer and will reduce the number of people that are killed in motor vehicle
accidents. "For more than two decades, speeding has been involved in approximately one–third of all motor vehicle fatalities." (NHTSA 2017)
Speeding is the act...show more content...
The increase in technology is making this and ever more present danger. Cell phones, tablets, touch screen radios, and GPS devices are some of the
main culprits that distract drivers. Any activity or object that takes driver's eyes off of the road is considered distracted driving. "During daylight
hours, approximately 660,000 drivers are using cell phones while driving." (NHTSA 2017) People need to realize that driving distracted does not
just affect them and change their ways to protect those around them. It does not matter what speed you are driving if the driver's eyes are not on
the road they are unable to react to anything around them. Whether it is kids crossing at a crosswalk or a vehicle merging into their lane on the
highway, if the driver does not observe it then he or she is unable to react. Put the electronics down until the end of the drive. Focus on the road and
make sure everyone makes it to their destination safely. In conclusion, there are many dangerous habits that drivers commit daily. Speeding, driving
tired and distracted driving are habits that drivers should realize have no place on the road. To make the streets safer drivers must learn to avoid
doing these dangerous acts. Habits are difficult to break, but doing so will save lives. Think about the all of the people around you while driving. Do
not take unnecessary risks and make it home safe and

Changing Driving Habits
Cell phones have changed driving habits. Many things that have changed are things such as death from accidents with cell phone use while
driving, and/or serious injuries caused to those involved in serious accidents. It might take five seconds to check your phone that five seconds with
no eyes on the road. Exactly why is that dangerous? You might ask, Well because a lot could happen in five seconds a crash, death or a really bad
injury. 'Talking on your phone while driving' is the main problem and is being solved by the state governments. 38 state governments have legislated
against the usage of cellphones in the car. Driver safety is being tackled by car companies and cell phone companies working with each other to make
cell phone usage safer for people in the car....show more content...
The National Safety Council is not only promoting cell phone use on the road , but even hands–free use." So technically they are trying to ban cell
phone use on the road and also ban hands–free use so they can make it safer for drivers and also when drivers have the urge to get on the phone they
won't be able to because soon hopefully it will be the law." So let's just some all of this up, So we have talked about how dangerous it could be i
forgot to talk about what kind of damages that could happen, there could be a brain damage, you could be paralyzed, think about about bad that
would be. The point is that don't use your cell while driving because a lot could happen. Think twice before you do anything no offense i'am not trying
to be rude but especially

Dangers Of Dangerous Driving Habits
Many of today's drivers have bad dangerous habits. The number of road accidents has increased immensely. Reckless driving habits causes majority of
these accidents. Many of today's drivers have dangerous driving habits. In our day–to–day lives, you will ultimately cross paths with a careless driver.
Some people survive these accidents while others do not. Reckless driving can be seen all the time. These drivers do not only put their lives in
danger but also the lives of other innocent people. Use of mobile phones while driving, using gps while driving, texting and not concentated on
driving, and Try to stop a minute an imagine receiving a phone call, or a knock at the door, and receiving that horrifying news that someone in the
family was hurt or even killed as a result of texting while driving. Usually this isn't a matter of typing in an address and looking up directions while
cruising down the highway at 70 mph. What I've seen more often is that the driver has a map pre–loaded into the phone, and occasionally picks up the
phone to glance at the GPS update to see how close the next turn is. Yes, GPS devices that speak directions aloud, or that have a screen display
designed to be mounted on the dashboard for viewing while driving, have become popular. But many people (perhaps more) have GPS–enabled
smartphones with map applications that update in real time. The temptation to pick up your phone and glance at a map there while driving, and maybe
zoom in or out a bit, can

Personal Essay: The Dangers Of Speeding
The Dangers of Speeding
I was pulled over by a police officer because I was going faster than I was supposed to in that designated area. The zone was a sixty–five mile per hour
zone and I was do eighty. I have agreed to the terms that I was found guilty of this and now come to you the reader explaining why it may be
dangerous to be speeding in certain areas and ultimately everywhere. During this experience I have learned that there are many consequences for not
driving safe, because there is never a good reason to speed. I have learned that it is extremely dangerous to speed and that there will be consequences,
even if they are minor like, obtaining a ticket, and occasionally they are major, like killing running into someone else. It does not matter what happens

No matter the situation there is no reason for someone to be speeding. Only in emergencies and you should have on your emergency lights to
avoid trouble. Many people forget what they are doing, however that should never happen. When you are driving you should always be aware of
your surroundings and you should be alert at all times and ready for anything to happen. In order to do this you need to be going at an appropriate
speed and be prepared to stop for anything that may occur to you or any others while driving. I have learned in this experience that speeding is not
something that you should take lightly and worry about it when you actually get caught or when something awful happens. It is not worth losing
your license, money, or even someone's life. There is no excuse for speeding and it is no one's fault except your own. I am very disappointed in
myself because I have been raised to follow the rules and always do the right thing no matter the consequences, and I was taught to always drive safe
and do not drive faster than I need to. I never need to drive fast because nothing is more important than the lives of

The Social Effects Of Driving On Safe Driving
When you first learn to drive properly you may start noticing bad habits from other drivers around you. You might see people speed up to pass
yellow lights, or see someone cut through multiple lanes without using their turning signals. Even as a passenger you might observe situations
where your driver is taking risks such as eating a burger, or applying makeup, or checking their phone. The risks that people are taking are making
the roads a dangerous place and it is becoming a serious public issue. The Sociological Imagination says that a public issue is, "some value cherished
by publics (that) is felt to be threatened." (Mills 1959). Many people who value driving on a safe road can feel threatened by careless drivers.
Driving is a privilege and responsibility, but when you do not take it seriously, you lose all respect forthe road, which can lead to serious
consequences. In order to achieve the social we must first access the heart of the individual. Many people tend to get caught up inside their cars
that they forget they are a part of a larger scale community of drivers that creates the everyday traffic on the road. When one person violates the
norms of the community, the problem can be ignored or overlooked, but when a large group of people is affected, it becomes a major public issue.

Dangerous Driving Habits
In today's world, many drivers have become complacent in the fact that the vehicle in which they are operating can be a deadly weapon. A two–ton
hunk of metal flying down the freeway at speeds excess of seventy miles an hour carries much potential for catastrophe.
Dangerous driving habits result in the death of thousands of people each year; however, by taking steps to educate young drivers on dangerous habits
behind the wheel; countless lives could be saved. Distracting driving is a common occurrence with modern day drivers. Due to technological
advances making electronics so easy to use on the go, many find themselves spending more time looking at their cell phone or navigation system than
they do looking at the road. According to the NHTSA, distracted driving claimed the lives of 3,477 people in 2015 alone. Texting and driving is a
common distraction, especially when it comes to the younger generation of drivers. Young drivers are oblivious to the dangers of what seems like such
a harmless act. Studies have shown that one 1 in 4 accidents are caused by texting and driving. The number of people injured from distracted drivers
in 2015 was 391,000. Over half of the nation's car accidents are a result of texting and driving. Whereas drinking and driving may kill more people,
the leading cause of car accidents is in fact texting and driving.
Another growing problem, that for years has been the major headline for traffic accidents that could have very well been avoided

Excessive Driving : The Dangers Of Driving
Drivers Beware
There was a time when getting a driver's license meant the right to own a car. And a car was a symbol of freedom which left its owner endless
opportunities to cruise their towns, to take in the scenery, and to meet people. Now, vehicles are merely a means of transportation, getting the driver
from point A to point B as quickly as possible, and with little regard for other people on the road. Today's drivers exhibit many dangerous habits that
are causing increasingly hazardous road conditions for everyone, such as impatient decision–making, distracted driving, and intentional recklessness.
Being in a hurry while operating a car leads to selfish and impatient choices that result in automobile accidents, or even worse, needless deaths. Drivers
who approach a stop sign and don't come to a complete stop are not leaving themselves enough time to see other cars that might be entering the
intersection. Furthermore, a rolling stop is incredibly dangerous for pedestrians or cyclist who aren't able to move quickly enough to avoid a car.
Impatience leads to aggressive tendencies and can cause unnecessary hostility between drivers. For example, honking a car's horn at another driver
for not accelerating at a light change fast enough can lead to road rage incidents. Excessive lane changes are another form of aggressive driving, and
this move prevents other drivers from being able to keep a safe distance, which increases the chances of a collision. Lastly, drivers who are in

Bad Habits : Bad Driving Habits
Bad driving habits
Today a lot of people have bad driving habits. There is no need to go far to detect individuals driving with poor driving skills and dangerous
techniques. Too many men and women have bad driving habits, and they can be seen almost anywhere, especially on highways. There are lot a
different dangerous habits that affect people every day's lives in different ways.
Driving in general can be hazardous. Driving and having such a distraction as a cell phone at ear, or ringing somewhere in a car, is ten times more
dangerous. Not surprisingly, drivers who use a cell phone while driving perceive cell phone use by others as less of a threat to their safety as do
non–users. A huge number of accidents caused by talking on a cell phone. During the last 5 years texting has become insanely popular. It's a great and
convenient tool because people don't have to call person to just say 'ok' on that dinner invitation. The worst part is that many people still think that
texting while driving just that 'ok' is ok. Unfortunately, even with traffic police enforcing those 'no cellphone' laws, individuals still neglect those
simple safety concerns. People need to start understanding themselves how dangerous it is.
Few years ago I was in Florida. My friend and I were driving back from a little town on the Atlantic coast back to Orlando to catch our flight back
home. It was a warm sunny afternoon, but fifteen minutes later it was pouring rain and we could not see beyond the hood.

Driving Habits Affect Your Transmission
How Your Driving Habits Affect Your Transmission
Believe it or not, how your drive your vehicle play a part in how long it last. Not only does it play a part in the life span of your car but in the
transmission its self. If a person is a smooth and attentive driver there transmission is going to last ten times longer than someone who could care less.
However, they will be caring when their transmission breaks down due to their driving. Transmission repairs can be costly. That alone is a good
reason to be a better driver. In this post you will learn a few different driving habits to prevent in order to keep your transmission and car in top running
condition.
Excessive Speeding
Not only is speeding against the law and dangerous to other, but it is also very hard on your transmission. When you are speeding your
transmission is working double time in order to provide so much power to your wheels. There is a difference in speeding and doing high speeds on
the highway. When you are on the highway you stay at a steady speed without excessive accelerating. When you sand speeding in and out of traffic
you never know when you will have to slow down and speed up. this causes your transmission to work more than necessary and can shorten the
transmission's life span....show more content...
Little do they know that this is not a requirement and it is harming the transmission more than it is helping. Downshifting is when the driver shifts into
a lower gear to slow the vehicle. This bad driving habit can cause the gears to grind and eventually wear down causing them to need to be replaced.
Downshifting causes major strain and damage to the transmission and shorten the life span of the transmission dramatically.

Driving Habits That Lead to Fatality
If there was a self survey questioning one's personal driving skills, most would consider themselves a pretty good driver. Many would say that they
abided by laws, and even if they didn't, they would still consider themselves good drivers. However, drivers today have many bad habits but often are
blind to them because they have had them for so long now. No matter how drivers may justify their habits, accidents still occur every 15 minutes.
Altogether, approximately 1.2 million people die from a car accident each year. Bad driving habits can range from simply trying to "multi–task" when
behind the wheel, to "having one drink" and considering oneself to be fine to drive. Imagine how many of these accidents could have been avoided
by simply changing the occurrence and development of these bad habits. The top causes of car accidents involve many simple, mindless habits that
a driver may not even be aware of having. Bad driving habits can occur from outside factors as well as inside factors. Some not so obvious habits
are, not using turn signals, tailgating, and failing to be aware of road conditions. Failing to do something such as using turn signals may seem like a
minor habit but in reality it can cause quite some danger. When one fails to use a turn signal, other drivers cannot anticipate what the next move may
be. Tailgating is something that many people do not even catch themselves doing. Driving too closely to the car ahead can cause accidents very
quickly and takes away

Dangers Of Texting While Driving
Did you know every day your life is put at risk because of other's bad driving habits? Well, when I first got my driver's license I believed I was
prepared to drive, but I was wrong. I still needed to learn about all the hazards around myself. Habits are tough to break when becoming attached,
even though various habits are illegal. However, speeding, texting while driving, and driving under the influence of alcohol are a few of the many
extremely common habits drivers use daily. Speeding is a common habit that happens around the world every day. The dangers of speeding are
certainly well known to most drivers, either by getting a ticket for speeding from law enforcement, being part of an accident due to reckless
driving or even having a loved one be a victim of excessive speeding (Upton). Speeding because one is in a rush, trying to show off to friends, or
just do not think the law applies to you, are never the answers for speeding. Accidents can easily result in hitting somebody or losing control of your
vehicle from speeding. Speed limits are made to keep the community safe, making the speed limit lower in populated towns, while a little higher on
back roads, and highways. School zone's have a vastly low speed limit to insure everyone is being extra cautious for children are everyone around.
Even with getting away with speeding, it is still breaking the law while putting others in great danger. Texting while driving is also an extremely
dangerous habit. Cell phones

The Speed And Driving : The Dangers Of Driving
A Koenigsegg CCR, a Swedish sports car, goes speeding down a highway. One sign passes the driver announcing the speed limit; "75 miles per
hour." Then another sign. Soon the driver is passing the signs so fast that he or she cannot read the signs. A cop is sitting in his or her vehicle,
waiting for someone to go zooming past. Suddenly, an object flashes in front of the vehicle. The radar gun is blinking fast – 242 mph. The vehicle was
going 242 miles per hour in a 75. With a flick of a switch, the cop's lights are flashing, and sirens are blaring. The cop, handcuffs ready in hand,
eventually pulls over and arrests the driver. The driver's sports car was towed. Everywhere people go, there is speeding; whether it is going 242 miles
per hour or just going a few miles over the speed limit. Although it is typically not as drastic as going 242 mph, it is still common when driving. If a
person is driving a few miles per hour over the speed limit, the cops will ignore it; but if a person is driving a significant amount over the speed limit
they will get pulled over and ticketed a high amount – in some situations they may get arrested. Depending on where you are driving, there are different
"limits." A "limit" is how far over the speed limit a driver can drive before being pulled over or receiving a ticket. For example, in Kansas, a person can
drive four over the speed limit when the speed limit is 75 on a highway, but if the speed limit is 70 or lower on a highway a person can go

Reckless Driving Habits
Many of Today's Drivers have Dangerous HabitsIntroduction:In this modern era, the number of road accidents has increased significantly. Reckless

cross paths with a careless driver. Some people survive these ordeals while others do not. Reckless driving can be seen all the time. These drivers
do not only put their lives in danger but also the lives of other innocent people. Valuable property has been destroyed in the hands of irresponsible
drivers. To improve our driving it is essential to acknowledge some common dangerous habits practiced by drivers.Discussion:The most common
dangerous habit is driving under the influence of alcohol. In my opinion, this is the greatest offence. People with this tendency should recognize that
they put other in jeopardy. While driving it is important to be attentive, alcohol makes this impossible (Wanberg et al 17). Another bad habit to
consider is eating while driving. Most of the time the driver is distracted while eating. For example, a driver spills ketchup on their clothes and then
cleans it up. These few seconds taken away from the road is enough for one to be involved in an accident. With the recent development mobile
phones, everyone wants to receive and make calls while driving, text and read messages. A driver who is receiving a call or texting will take their eyes
off the road. As an

Dangerous Driving Behavior
The frequency of compromised driving of 11th grade high school students and associations with substance practice and dangerous driving behavior was
studied. Evaluation of the teens operating a vehicle and riding with an individual that is alcohol or substance influenced was conducted. Participant
observation and secondary sources were used to gather the information. "Thirteen percent of 11th–grade students reported DWI at least 1 of the past 30
days, and 24% reported RWI at least once in the past year. Risky driving was positively associated with DWI."(Li, K., Simons–Morton, B. G., &

Reckless Driving Essay
As Americans we love our cars, trucks, SUVs, and motorbikes for many different reasons. One major reason is that they are an easy and convenient
mobility; a personal mode of transportation. It is rather hard to imagine what this county would be like without all the roads and vehicles on them.
This is abundantly evident in Arizona, where the majority of us drive to most all of our activities from going to work or taking the kids for an ice
cream. We jump into our vehicle and go. However, a curious thing often happens when we get in our car, truck and SUVs. We sometimes change
turning into someone different when behind the wheel of our vehicle. We can become inconsiderate and aggressive to other drivers; at times even
becoming rude, crude,...show more content...
They are failure to yield the right of way, reckless, carless, erratic driving, failure to obey traffic signs, and other traffic control devices, and making
improper turns (AAA Foundation (2009). Arizona law makers took notice of the dangers that are created by aggressive drivers. The lawmakers
amended the "Reckless Driving Section and amended the name of the statute 28–695 to Reckless and Aggressive Driving. Arizona statute defines
aggressive driving as a situation in which a person commits a violation of speeding and at least two other traffic violations (i.e., failure to obey traffic
control devices, improper passing, driving off the pavement or traveled portion of the highway, following too close, failure to yield right–of–way, or
driving in a way that is an immediate hazard to another person or vehicle)." (ARIZONA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY , para. 2). This
was an important step allow law enforcement a tool to make the roads safer. The serious problem is we should be trying to be safer on our own.
The question that should be asked is why are so many people are compelled to be dangerous drivers? It could be that there is a sense of invincibility
when they are in control of a big powerful machine. This is often the case with younger male drivers, who enjoy the thrill of dangerous driving. In
other instances normally calm, law abiding drivers snap in a fit of rage. This road rage can turn a driver from calm to instantly a monster behind the
wheel,

The Dangers Of Speeding Essay
As a teenage driver, I have received one speeding ticket and been in one accident. Getting into an accident in my front ditch has changed my view of
driving and being more cautious on the road. Sometimes these are wake up calls to watch the road more. The most dangerous problem people face
each day with accidents is speeding, drinking and driving, and texting while driving.
Many causes of accidents on the road is drinking under the influence. Alcohol impairs the brain and the ability to make decisions. Drinking and
driving can easily lead to killing someone or killing yourself. We all hear everyday quotes like, "Don't Drink and Drive." Honestly, I do not think
many people pay serious attention to that quote. Many people die every year because of drunk driving and making bad decisions.
Many drivers would most likely agree that there is a need for speed at some places. For instance, if I am late for work or to a doctor's appointment, I
catch myself speeding at times. Most people take advantage of that and does not realize until they are caught. Breaking the law by speed can lead to
many consequences. Speeding can cause a driver to get a ticket, sometimes go to jail, and also to increase insurance cost....show more content...
Many teens and adults has a habit of texting while driving. This distracts the driver and can increase the chance of getting involved in an accident.
Some people agree that it does not impact them very much, but texting and driving can lead to many consequences that those people will have to
face. It all comes down to someone being involved in an accident for them to have a wake up call. Texting and driving is becoming more talked about
over the years as the percent of deaths increases. Having an innocent person have their life taken away because of a person not waiting to respond to

Exploring Bad Driving Habits

  • 1. Exploring Bad Driving Habits In this edition of The Driver's Daily, I interviewed three drivers; one who has been driving for less than two years, one who has been driving between five to ten years, and one that has been driving for more than ten years. I asked them the following questions: a) Have you felt like you have developed any bad driving habits? b) Have you made any attempt to break any bad habits? and c) What advice do you have for new drivers. The results of this interview was rather interesting, and allowed me to analyze what a driver can do to overcome each bad habit that he or she mentioned. First and foremost, the first driver that I interviewed was a man that has been driving for more than 10 years. He stated that his bad driving habit was that he occasionally Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Many drivers participate in reckless behavior behind the wheel. These behaviors can be demonstrated in even the shortest time frame of going around the block. These behaviors are not only harmful to the drivers and passengers, but to the public as well. Most people are in a car with a reckless driver at least once in their lifetime. Dangerous drivers destroy property and kill people at least once a day. Not only does this affect passengers in the car and the driver and people in surrounding cars, but also Insurance companies are also extremely affected by reckless drivers. These reckless drivers are not just the typical teen drivers whom everyone talks about. They are anyone who participates in any form of driving that can put other's lives at risk. When it comes to younger drivers, their reckless driving mostly comes from the inexperience of driving in all types of situations. They are also nine times more likely to be more dangerous on the road when their friends are in the car. This is because they are more likely to distract the driver with things like music, snap chat videos, and school drama. When it comes to older drivers, they are more likely to become reckless drivers because their reflexes are not as sharp. Another reason why older drivers are a risk to society is because they become lazy behind the wheel, as it has become second nature to drive. Technology has also become an extreme factor in reckless driving. Cell phones are now present in about nine out of Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Distracted Driving: Improving Our Society Driving is a skill and a necessity in today's society. As with everything that is designed to help people there are those who take advantage of it and put others in danger. According to a study done by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (2017) some of the most dangerous driving habits that occur in the United States are; speeding, distracted driving, and driving tired. To improve our society we need to focus on these habits and try to break them. In doing so, it will make traveling by road much safer and will reduce the number of people that are killed in motor vehicle accidents. "For more than two decades, speeding has been involved in approximately one–third of all motor vehicle fatalities." (NHTSA 2017) Speeding is the act...show more content... The increase in technology is making this and ever more present danger. Cell phones, tablets, touch screen radios, and GPS devices are some of the main culprits that distract drivers. Any activity or object that takes driver's eyes off of the road is considered distracted driving. "During daylight hours, approximately 660,000 drivers are using cell phones while driving." (NHTSA 2017) People need to realize that driving distracted does not just affect them and change their ways to protect those around them. It does not matter what speed you are driving if the driver's eyes are not on the road they are unable to react to anything around them. Whether it is kids crossing at a crosswalk or a vehicle merging into their lane on the highway, if the driver does not observe it then he or she is unable to react. Put the electronics down until the end of the drive. Focus on the road and make sure everyone makes it to their destination safely. In conclusion, there are many dangerous habits that drivers commit daily. Speeding, driving tired and distracted driving are habits that drivers should realize have no place on the road. To make the streets safer drivers must learn to avoid doing these dangerous acts. Habits are difficult to break, but doing so will save lives. Think about the all of the people around you while driving. Do not take unnecessary risks and make it home safe and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Changing Driving Habits Cell phones have changed driving habits. Many things that have changed are things such as death from accidents with cell phone use while driving, and/or serious injuries caused to those involved in serious accidents. It might take five seconds to check your phone that five seconds with no eyes on the road. Exactly why is that dangerous? You might ask, Well because a lot could happen in five seconds a crash, death or a really bad injury. 'Talking on your phone while driving' is the main problem and is being solved by the state governments. 38 state governments have legislated against the usage of cellphones in the car. Driver safety is being tackled by car companies and cell phone companies working with each other to make cell phone usage safer for people in the car....show more content... The National Safety Council is not only promoting cell phone use on the road , but even hands–free use." So technically they are trying to ban cell phone use on the road and also ban hands–free use so they can make it safer for drivers and also when drivers have the urge to get on the phone they won't be able to because soon hopefully it will be the law." So let's just some all of this up, So we have talked about how dangerous it could be i forgot to talk about what kind of damages that could happen, there could be a brain damage, you could be paralyzed, think about about bad that would be. The point is that don't use your cell while driving because a lot could happen. Usually this isn't a matter of typing in an address and looking up directions while cruising down the highway at 70 mph. What I've seen more often is that the driver has a map pre–loaded into the phone, and occasionally picks up the phone to glance at the GPS update to see how close the next turn is. Yes, GPS devices that speak directions aloud, or that have a screen display designed to be mounted on the dashboard for viewing while driving, have become popular. The zone was a sixty–five mile per hour zone and I was do eighty. I have agreed to the terms that I was found guilty of this and now come to you the reader explaining why it may be dangerous to be speeding in certain areas and ultimately everywhere. During this experience I have learned that there are many consequences for not driving safe, because there is never a good reason to speed. I have learned that it is extremely dangerous to speed and that there will be consequences, even if they are minor like, obtaining a ticket, and occasionally they are major, like killing running into someone else. Only in emergencies and you should have on your emergency lights to avoid trouble. Many people forget what they are doing, however that should never happen. When you are driving you should always be aware of your surroundings and you should be alert at all times and ready for anything to happen. In order to do this you need to be going at an appropriate speed and be prepared to stop for anything that may occur to you or any others while driving. I have learned in this experience that speeding is not something that you should take lightly and worry about it when you actually get caught or when something awful happens. It is not worth losing your license, money, or even someone's life. There is no excuse for speeding and it is no one's fault except your own. I am very disappointed in myself because I have been raised to follow the rules and always do the right thing no matter the consequences, and I was taught to always drive safe and do not drive faster than I need to. • 7. The Social Effects Of Driving On Safe Driving When you first learn to drive properly you may start noticing bad habits from other drivers around you. You might see people speed up to pass yellow lights, or see someone cut through multiple lanes without using their turning signals. Even as a passenger you might observe situations where your driver is taking risks such as eating a burger, or applying makeup, or checking their phone. The risks that people are taking are making the roads a dangerous place and it is becoming a serious public issue. The Sociological Imagination says that a public issue is, "some value cherished by publics (that) is felt to be threatened." (Mills 1959). Many people who value driving on a safe road can feel threatened by careless drivers. Driving is a privilege and responsibility, but when you do not take it seriously, you lose all respect forthe road, which can lead to serious consequences. In order to achieve the social we must first access the heart of the individual. Many people tend to get caught up inside their cars that they forget they are a part of a larger scale community of drivers that creates the everyday traffic on the road. When one person violates the norms of the community, the problem can be ignored or overlooked, but when a large group of people is affected, it becomes a major public issue. • 8. Dangerous Driving Habits In today's world, many drivers have become complacent in the fact that the vehicle in which they are operating can be a deadly weapon. A two–ton hunk of metal flying down the freeway at speeds excess of seventy miles an hour carries much potential for catastrophe. Dangerous driving habits result in the death of thousands of people each year; however, by taking steps to educate young drivers on dangerous habits behind the wheel; countless lives could be saved. Distracting driving is a common occurrence with modern day drivers. Due to technological advances making electronics so easy to use on the go, many find themselves spending more time looking at their cell phone or navigation system than they do looking at the road. According to the NHTSA, distracted driving claimed the lives of 3,477 people in 2015 alone. Texting and driving is a common distraction, especially when it comes to the younger generation of drivers. Young drivers are oblivious to the dangers of what seems like such a harmless act. Studies have shown that one 1 in 4 accidents are caused by texting and driving. The number of people injured from distracted drivers in 2015 was 391,000. Over half of the nation's car accidents are a result of texting and driving. Whereas drinking and driving may kill more people, the leading cause of car accidents is in fact texting and driving. Another growing problem, that for years has been the major headline for traffic accidents that could have very well been avoided Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Excessive Driving : The Dangers Of Driving Drivers Beware There was a time when getting a driver's license meant the right to own a car. And a car was a symbol of freedom which left its owner endless opportunities to cruise their towns, to take in the scenery, and to meet people. Now, vehicles are merely a means of transportation, getting the driver from point A to point B as quickly as possible, and with little regard for other people on the road. Today's drivers exhibit many dangerous habits that are causing increasingly hazardous road conditions for everyone, such as impatient decision–making, distracted driving, and intentional recklessness. Being in a hurry while operating a car leads to selfish and impatient choices that result in automobile accidents, or even worse, needless deaths. Drivers who approach a stop sign and don't come to a complete stop are not leaving themselves enough time to see other cars that might be entering the intersection. Furthermore, a rolling stop is incredibly dangerous for pedestrians or cyclist who aren't able to move quickly enough to avoid a car. Impatience leads to aggressive tendencies and can cause unnecessary hostility between drivers. For example, honking a car's horn at another driver for not accelerating at a light change fast enough can lead to road rage incidents. Excessive lane changes are another form of aggressive driving, and this move prevents other drivers from being able to keep a safe distance, which increases the chances of a collision. • 10. Bad Habits : Bad Driving Habits Bad driving habits Today a lot of people have bad driving habits. There is no need to go far to detect individuals driving with poor driving skills and dangerous techniques. Too many men and women have bad driving habits, and they can be seen almost anywhere, especially on highways. There are lot a different dangerous habits that affect people every day's lives in different ways. Driving in general can be hazardous. Driving and having such a distraction as a cell phone at ear, or ringing somewhere in a car, is ten times more dangerous. Not surprisingly, drivers who use a cell phone while driving perceive cell phone use by others as less of a threat to their safety as do non–users. A huge number of accidents caused by talking on a cell phone. During the last 5 years texting has become insanely popular. It's a great and convenient tool because people don't have to call person to just say 'ok' on that dinner invitation. The worst part is that many people still think that texting while driving just that 'ok' is ok. Unfortunately, even with traffic police enforcing those 'no cellphone' laws, individuals still neglect those simple safety concerns. People need to start understanding themselves how dangerous it is. Few years ago I was in Florida. My friend and I were driving back from a little town on the Atlantic coast back to Orlando to catch our flight back home. It was a warm sunny afternoon, but fifteen minutes later it was pouring rain and we could not see beyond the hood. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Driving Habits Affect Your Transmission How Your Driving Habits Affect Your Transmission Believe it or not, how your drive your vehicle play a part in how long it last. Not only does it play a part in the life span of your car but in the transmission its self. If a person is a smooth and attentive driver there transmission is going to last ten times longer than someone who could care less. However, they will be caring when their transmission breaks down due to their driving. Transmission repairs can be costly. That alone is a good reason to be a better driver. In this post you will learn a few different driving habits to prevent in order to keep your transmission and car in top running condition. Excessive Speeding Not only is speeding against the law and dangerous to other, but it is also very hard on your transmission. When you are speeding your transmission is working double time in order to provide so much power to your wheels. There is a difference in speeding and doing high speeds on the highway. When you are on the highway you stay at a steady speed without excessive accelerating. When you sand speeding in and out of traffic you never know when you will have to slow down and speed up. this causes your transmission to work more than necessary and can shorten the transmission's life span....show more content... Little do they know that this is not a requirement and it is harming the transmission more than it is helping. Downshifting is when the driver shifts into a lower gear to slow the vehicle. • 12. Driving Habits That Lead to Fatality If there was a self survey questioning one's personal driving skills, most would consider themselves a pretty good driver. Many would say that they abided by laws, and even if they didn't, they would still consider themselves good drivers. However, drivers today have many bad habits but often are blind to them because they have had them for so long now. No matter how drivers may justify their habits, accidents still occur every 15 minutes. Altogether, approximately 1.2 million people die from a car accident each year. Bad driving habits can range from simply trying to "multi–task" when behind the wheel, to "having one drink" and considering oneself to be fine to drive. Imagine how many of these accidents could have been avoided by simply changing the occurrence and development of these bad habits. The top causes of car accidents involve many simple, mindless habits that a driver may not even be aware of having. Bad driving habits can occur from outside factors as well as inside factors. Some not so obvious habits are, not using turn signals, tailgating, and failing to be aware of road conditions. Failing to do something such as using turn signals may seem like a minor habit but in reality it can cause quite some danger. When one fails to use a turn signal, other drivers cannot anticipate what the next move may be. Tailgating is something that many people do not even catch themselves doing. • 13. Dangers Of Texting While Driving Did you know every day your life is put at risk because of other's bad driving habits? Well, when I first got my driver's license I believed I was prepared to drive, but I was wrong. I still needed to learn about all the hazards around myself. Habits are tough to break when becoming attached, even though various habits are illegal. However, speeding, texting while driving, and driving under the influence of alcohol are a few of the many extremely common habits drivers use daily. Speeding is a common habit that happens around the world every day. The dangers of speeding are certainly well known to most drivers, either by getting a ticket for speeding from law enforcement, being part of an accident due to reckless driving or even having a loved one be a victim of excessive speeding (Upton). Speeding because one is in a rush, trying to show off to friends, or just do not think the law applies to you, are never the answers for speeding. Accidents can easily result in hitting somebody or losing control of your vehicle from speeding. Speed limits are made to keep the community safe, making the speed limit lower in populated towns, while a little higher on back roads, and highways. School zone's have a vastly low speed limit to insure everyone is being extra cautious for children are everyone around. Even with getting away with speeding, it is still breaking the law while putting others in great danger. Texting while driving is also an extremely dangerous habit. • 14. The Speed And Driving : The Dangers Of Driving A Koenigsegg CCR, a Swedish sports car, goes speeding down a highway. One sign passes the driver announcing the speed limit; "75 miles per hour." Then another sign. Soon the driver is passing the signs so fast that he or she cannot read the signs. A cop is sitting in his or her vehicle, waiting for someone to go zooming past. Suddenly, an object flashes in front of the vehicle. The radar gun is blinking fast – 242 mph. The vehicle was going 242 miles per hour in a 75. With a flick of a switch, the cop's lights are flashing, and sirens are blaring. The cop, handcuffs ready in hand, eventually pulls over and arrests the driver. The driver's sports car was towed. Everywhere people go, there is speeding; whether it is going 242 miles per hour or just going a few miles over the speed limit. Although it is typically not as drastic as going 242 mph, it is still common when driving. If a person is driving a few miles per hour over the speed limit, the cops will ignore it; but if a person is driving a significant amount over the speed limit they will get pulled over and ticketed a high amount – in some situations they may get arrested. Depending on where you are driving, there are different "limits." A "limit" is how far over the speed limit a driver can drive before being pulled over or receiving a ticket. For example, in Kansas, a person can drive four over the speed limit when the speed limit is 75 on a highway, but if the speed limit is 70 or lower on a highway a person can go Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Reckless driving habits causes majority of these accidents. Many of today's drivers have dangerous driving habits. In our day–to–day lives, you will ultimately cross paths with a careless driver. Some people survive these ordeals while others do not. Reckless driving can be seen all the time. These drivers do not only put their lives in danger but also the lives of other innocent people. Valuable property has been destroyed in the hands of irresponsible drivers. To improve our driving it is essential to acknowledge some common dangerous habits practiced by drivers.Discussion:The most common dangerous habit is driving under the influence of alcohol. In my opinion, this is the greatest offence. People with this tendency should recognize that they put other in jeopardy. While driving it is important to be attentive, alcohol makes this impossible (Wanberg et al 17). Another bad habit to consider is eating while driving. Most of the time the driver is distracted while eating. For example, a driver spills ketchup on their clothes and then cleans it up. These few seconds taken away from the road is enough for one to be involved in an accident. With the recent development mobile phones, everyone wants to receive and make calls while driving, text and read messages. A driver who is receiving a call or texting will take their eyes off the road. As an Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 18. Reckless Driving Essay As Americans we love our cars, trucks, SUVs, and motorbikes for many different reasons. One major reason is that they are an easy and convenient mobility; a personal mode of transportation. It is rather hard to imagine what this county would be like without all the roads and vehicles on them. This is abundantly evident in Arizona, where the majority of us drive to most all of our activities from going to work or taking the kids for an ice cream. We jump into our vehicle and go. However, a curious thing often happens when we get in our car, truck and SUVs. We sometimes change turning into someone different when behind the wheel of our vehicle. We can become inconsiderate and aggressive to other drivers; at times even becoming rude, crude,...show more content... They are failure to yield the right of way, reckless, carless, erratic driving, failure to obey traffic signs, and other traffic control devices, and making improper turns (AAA Foundation (2009). Arizona law makers took notice of the dangers that are created by aggressive drivers. The lawmakers amended the "Reckless Driving Section and amended the name of the statute 28–695 to Reckless and Aggressive Driving. Arizona statute defines aggressive driving as a situation in which a person commits a violation of speeding and at least two other traffic violations (i.e., failure to obey traffic control devices, improper passing, driving off the pavement or traveled portion of the highway, following too close, failure to yield right–of–way, or driving in a way that is an immediate hazard to another person or vehicle)." (ARIZONA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY , para. 2). This was an important step allow law enforcement a tool to make the roads safer. The serious problem is we should be trying to be safer on our own. The question that should be asked is why are so many people are compelled to be dangerous drivers? It could be that there is a sense of invincibility when they are in control of a big powerful machine. This is often the case with younger male drivers, who enjoy the thrill of dangerous driving. In other instances normally calm, law abiding drivers snap in a fit of rage. This road rage can turn a driver from calm to instantly a monster behind the wheel, Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Getting into an accident in my front ditch has changed my view of driving and being more cautious on the road. Sometimes these are wake up calls to watch the road more. The most dangerous problem people face each day with accidents is speeding, drinking and driving, and texting while driving. Many causes of accidents on the road is drinking under the influence. Alcohol impairs the brain and the ability to make decisions. Drinking and driving can easily lead to killing someone or killing yourself. We all hear everyday quotes like, "Don't Drink and Drive." Honestly, I do not think many people pay serious attention to that quote. Many people die every year because of drunk driving and making bad decisions. Many drivers would most likely agree that there is a need for speed at some places. For instance, if I am late for work or to a doctor's appointment, I catch myself speeding at times. Most people take advantage of that and does not realize until they are caught. Breaking the law by speed can lead to many consequences.
