I scan or save any relevant bills, forms, receipts, W-2 or other
documents to a tax folder on my laptop. Then I email them all to my
tax preparer and discuss the details by phone. I like the security of
having a tax professional that will find things I might miss.

I keep all my receipts, but organizing them can be a time-consuming
task. Since I got my neat receipt scanner few years ago, not only
have I cleared out all the clutter, but I got rid of all the tax-time

Years ago I created a simple Excel workbook with different pages
for household, professional expenses and donations. Each page

I can't say enough good things about mint.com! It does all the work
of organizing and categorizing your spending for you. It provides
information for making money decisions you feel good about. I can
see every transaction immediately, without having to wait for
statements or bills.

I love how Quicken prepares all the reports for taxes and lets you
budget and keep up with interest earned and interest owed. I know
my total worth during the year and am much more organized.
