Problem:

The organization which we are discussing here is an educational institute that wants to achieve the target
to admit 300 students by the end of 2013. Achieving this goal means earning high profits by cutting down
average costs. Currently there are only 140 students studying there that results in very high costs even
the institute is not in a situation to reach break even point. The entire goal is based on various things,
specially the standard and quality of education which is being provided.

The problem that our group identified from my organization is; Failure to meet targets which is actually
due to lack of planning process and proper allocation of resources. This issue also leads another very
critical problem i.e. lack of motivation among the employees. Another reason of this problem is that no
specific task/goal is assigned to an employee to achieve it in taking part achieving the actual goal.

Solution:

For the above problem, we recommend a solution that to go through from proper planning process.

It includes;

       i. Proper allocation of recourses.

It includes allocation of employees by assigning them specific task to achieve the goal. Fix
budget by allocating money that can make achieving goal possible

ii. Divide the actual goal into further small SMART goals.
iii. Develop proper schedules and set of procedures to achieve goal.
iv. Make such rules and procedures that can make daily or weekly assessment possible.

Management Theory in Practice:

Management Theory:

The solution that we recommended is clearly mentioned in the Management texts that mere goals do not
give end results and they should be assisted by some plans. The goal which is discussed above is tactical
goal but the tactical plans that will make achieving this goal possible were not decided in the above case.
So, we recommended solution in the light of Management to make tactical plans as well.
