Six Thinking Hats Essay
Thinking with Hats
Six Thinking Hats offers an original way to think. The author, Edward De Bono, has created an idiom to make decisions making, communication, and
thinking more effective. De Bono believes thinking is the ultimate human resource and that we should want to improve upon it. He suggests that the
main difficulty of thinking is confusion and that we try to do too much at once. In his book he puts forward a simple concept that allows a thinker to
do one thing at a time. The concept is the Six Thinking Hats. Putting on one of these hats defines a certain type of thinking. It is in the convenience of
the Six Thinking Hats that is the main value of the concept. The concept of the hats is that when you have one on you think in only...show more

The white hat is neutral and objective. It is concerned with objective facts and figures. The red hat gives the emotional view. The black hatcovers the
negative aspects. The yellow hat is optimistic and covers hope and positive thinking. The green hat indicates creativity and new ideas. The blue hat is
concerned with control and the organization of the thinking process.
The more widespread De Bono's Six Thinking Hats idiom is the more efficient it will be in use. At first people might feel awkward about using the
different hats, but this awkwardness should pass as the convenience of the system becomes apparent. The first use of the hats will be in the form of a
request to use one hat or to switch from the black hat to another. He says that eventually one should be able to sit down at any discussion table and
switch in and out of "hats" with ease. The two main purposes to the Six Thinking Hats concept are to simplify thinking by allowing a thinker to deal
with one thing at a time and to allow a switch in thinking.
I think the concept of the Six Thinking Hats is valid. Edward De Bono has created an effective way to develop our thinking habits. The concept is
most useful when used in management settings at a firm or in schools and when all participants except of embrace it. I think the most useful aspect of
the concept is when someone is using the black or red hat and is misconstruing the facts someone else could request them to

Critical Thinking Reflection Essay
Critical thinking is a significant and essential topic in recent education. The strategy of critical thinking skills helps identify areas in one's courses as
the suitable place to highlight, expand and use some problems in exams that test students' critical thinking skills.
Critical thinking means accurate thinking in the search of appropriate and dependable knowledge about the world. Another way to describe it is
sensible, insightful, responsible, and skillful thinking that is focused on deciding what to believe or do. Critical thinking is not being able to process
information well enough to know to stop for red lights or whether you established the right change at the supermarket.

My job now isn't bad, but it takes forever to get there, because I do have a car. I need a job that closer to home and that would give me more hours. I
could gather all the information, weigh the pros and cons and come to a sound decision. Putting my personal feelings aside and avoid errors in
judgment. Sometimes I need to think without my emotions. It would help me not to use snap judgments, negative labeling and stereotypes in my thought
process. I should also try learning to use a more creative problem solving, because it helps to approach problem from a different direction and
explores news options. It may also help solve easier problems first and help tackle harder problems. Should I be a 5th year undergraduate or graduate
this year?
I decided last year to change my second major and I was presented with the decision to graduate on time and not have a second major or stay for an
extra year and pursuer my second major. I briefly talked to my advisor before when I was changing my second major and she told me to look at
everything. She always said that I wasn't too late to change my mind, but the decision was completely up to me.
Decision: Being a 5th year undergraduate.
ProsCons
I would finish undergrad with two majorsI would have to figure out how to pay for it
I'll be able to stay in the circusI would be in school for 4 more years instead of 3 years
I would get to participate in Dance

Design Thinking Essay examples
Design thinking is a process for practical, creative resolution of problems or issues that looks for an improved future result. It is the essential ability to
combine empathy, creativity and rationality to meet user needs and drive business success. Unlike analytical thinking, design thinking is a creative
process based around the building up of ideas. There are no judgments early on the design thinking (Simon, 1969, p. 55). Design thinking includes
imagination and reason, a combination of convergent and divergent thought, and creativity. Design thinking might be thought of as dialectic, or
conversation. It involves design wisdom, judgment, and knowledge. Lastly, design thinking is skill (Hegeman, 2008).

Deep understanding of the context of client and user needs is generated through analytical observation or ethnographic research that task seek to
understand the fundamental use and usability needs of the customer or user and the meaning–based needs (Archer, 1984, 64). In the observation phase,
data is collected to elicit the stories that help to understand culture and meaning in variety of forms: field notes, focus groups, interviews, transcripts,
photographs, video and audio tapes, participant or non–participant observation, and formal ethnographic (Beckman & Barry, 2007).
The second stage of design thinking is frameworks the design problem: this phase requires processing and a large amount of information –which is
collected from the observation phase– but at the same time being able to see what is missing for the customers and users information. The ultimate
purpose of the framing phase is to reframe the design problem, to come up with a new story to tell about how the user might solve his or her problem,
or to come up with a new way of seeing problem, to identify interesting dimension, to identifying and formulation the goals, to identifying external and
internal constrains (Oxman, 1997, p. 344), to create design brief –outline programme– and time lines and providing the boundaries of the design field
(Archer, 1984, p. 67; Cross, 2006, p. 32).
After framing and reframing the problem, the design innovation process moves to the third stage:

Essay on Critical Thinking
The concepts of critical thinking and creative thinking are both gaining increasing importance in the world today. Critical thinking allows people to
understand difficult concepts in a manner that is clearer and more defined. They can more readily understand those concepts if they employ critical
thinking. In all portions of everyday life, a person is expected to make independent judgments. Those judgments are based on experience and
knowledge. Without the ability to think critically, every situation that a person comes across would have to be considered in isolation from all other
situations. When a person encounters a problem that is a new one, he or she may be able to use critical thinking to solve those problems. One...show

Critical thinking also helps in decision–making. Both problem solving and decision–making abilities are vital to a prosperous business. Persons who
are critical thinkers can make a difference in the companies in which they are employed. Today?s corporations must first recognize that there is a real
need for critical thinkers. It is important for both the top management down the line. Critical thinking must be taught and built in to the way the
company or organization performs its business. In fact, companies and organizations must embrace the concept of critical thinking. Critical thinking
can lead to success story after success story. This type of impact gives any company or organization credibility. According to Supon, one of the
fundamental purposes of teaching critical thinking is to enhance the abilities of students to become critical thinkers. Corporate leaders, educational
researchers, employers, and parents have continually pushed teachers to assist their students in the development of critical thinking ability. Critical
thinking is a skill that ?involved not only knowledge of content by also concept formation and analysis, reasoning and drawing conclusions, recognizing
and avoiding contradiction, and other essential cognitive activities? (Supon, 1998). There are proposed reasons for the emphasis that is currently on
critical thinking. Many factors can be related to this emphasis. They include the societal factors of economic shifts

Essay on the power of positive thinking
"There is nothing on earth that you cannot have–once you have mentally accepted the fact that you can have it."
–Robert Collier
Perhaps the most important mental and spiritual principle ever discovered is that you become what you think about most of the time. Your outer world
reflects your inner world. You can tell the inner condition of a person by looking at the outer conditions of his or her life. And it cannot be otherwise.
Your mind is extraordinarily powerful. Your thoughts control and determine almost everything that happens to you.
You are a complex bundle of thoughts, feelings, attitudes, desires, images, fears, hopes, doubts, opinions and ambitions, each of them constantly
changing, sometimes from second to second. Your...show more content...
You do not believe what you see, but rather you see what you already believe.
The most harmful beliefs that you can have are your self–limiting beliefs. These are beliefs about you and your potential that hold you back. Most of
them are not true. Most of them are the result of information you have accepted without question, often from when you were young. If you believe
yourself to be limited in an area then that will become your truth.
The Law of Attraction says that you invariably attract into your life the people, ideas, opportunities, and circumstances in harmony with your dominant
thoughts.
This law explains why it is that you don't have to be concerned where your good is going to come from.
If you can keep your mind clearly focussed on what you want, and refrain from thinking about what you don't want, you will attract everything you
need to achieve your goals, exactly when you are ready. Change your thinking and you change your life.
Bertrand Russell, the English philosopher, once said, "The very best proof that something can be done is that others have already done it."
In the New Testament, Jesus taught the way to measure the truth of any principle: "By their fruits, ye shall know them."
The only question you need to ask about any idea is, "Does it work?" does it bring about the results that you desire?
Successful people are those who think more effectively than unsuccessful people. They approach their lives, relationships, goals, problems

Creative and Critical Thinking Essay
Knowledge is generated through critical and creative thinking. Creative thinking is something new or original that is created with value. Critical
thinking is a type of thinking that questions assumptions and validates or invalidates a current belief or something that is said to be previously true.
Knowledge is created through the culmination of generally accepted assumptions and creativity. How do you separate general assumptions and
creativity? These two types of thinking can be easily separated in regards to concrete or realistic ideas compared to abstract or original ideas however
to generate new, acceptable knowledge critical and creative thinking must interact together. The questioning of established beliefs with the creation of

Knowledge must have background facts to be considered true and mathematics must use reason to justify their formulas or methods. For example,
memorizing the area under a bell curve is very different from understanding how it is derived. Proofs are useful when proving mathematical concepts
although they are not concrete and harder to understand. Creative aspects must be considered when trying to derive a difficult proof. Creative problem
solving involving mathematics can use sense perception as a way of knowing. In these problems, real life situations allow for the organization of ideas
and require that the student's attention be focused on the actual understanding of the concepts rather than the usual memorization of facts from
concrete problems. For example, calculating the replanting of trees in a forest would depend on the circumstances surrounding the problems and
factors would be dependant on the situation. Is creating a personal solution to the problems more effective than searching for existing solutions? In
regards to mathematics, if a solution is known to exist using methods already established, there is no need to search for additional or new solutions.
There are always exceptions to any case and new knowledge could form from a completely new and personal solution. This could create new
knowledge using creative thinking and could also create a more efficient solution to the one previously used. Applied mathematics uses both

Introspection Essay
The dictionary describes introspection as the examination or observation of one's own mental and emotional processes. Kevin Woods stated,
"Introspection are all about getting to know yourself at the core, uncovering your values and then deciding for yourself what's the best action to
take." Your emotions and feelings play a major role in why we do things. If we listen to our feelings then we can find more things about us that we
didn't know. This could benefit us and help us appreciate more things and live but also may make us overthink some times. Karl Perera mentioned,
"Introspection is good in small doses. If you are feeling very tired or have no energy and can't find a solution as things keep rolling through your mind
over and over then it is time to stop." Overall, everyone connects with things differently; it is interesting to notice how you feel in certain situations.
I recently just lost a ring that was given to me a couple years ago. I was devastated and felt irresponsible. I have always wanted a Pandora Ring so this
devastation led me to get one. I did a little research to figure which one I wanted on the Pandora website. My mom also had a Pandora book that I
gazed though. I narrowed it down to a rose gold or a silver ring. I figured once I got into the...show more content...

  • 3. Design Thinking Essay examples Design thinking is a process for practical, creative resolution of problems or issues that looks for an improved future result. It is the essential ability to combine empathy, creativity and rationality to meet user needs and drive business success. Unlike analytical thinking, design thinking is a creative process based around the building up of ideas. There are no judgments early on the design thinking (Simon, 1969, p. 55). Design thinking includes imagination and reason, a combination of convergent and divergent thought, and creativity. Design thinking might be thought of as dialectic, or conversation. It involves design wisdom, judgment, and knowledge. Lastly, design thinking is skill (Hegeman, 2008). Design thinking process has...show more content... Deep understanding of the context of client and user needs is generated through analytical observation or ethnographic research that task seek to understand the fundamental use and usability needs of the customer or user and the meaning–based needs (Archer, 1984, 64). In the observation phase, data is collected to elicit the stories that help to understand culture and meaning in variety of forms: field notes, focus groups, interviews, transcripts, photographs, video and audio tapes, participant or non–participant observation, and formal ethnographic (Beckman & Barry, 2007). The second stage of design thinking is frameworks the design problem: this phase requires processing and a large amount of information –which is collected from the observation phase– but at the same time being able to see what is missing for the customers and users information. The ultimate purpose of the framing phase is to reframe the design problem, to come up with a new story to tell about how the user might solve his or her problem, or to come up with a new way of seeing problem, to identify interesting dimension, to identifying and formulation the goals, to identifying external and internal constrains (Oxman, 1997, p. 344), to create design brief –outline programme– and time lines and providing the boundaries of the design field (Archer, 1984, p. 67; Cross, 2006, p. 32). • 4. Essay on Critical Thinking The concepts of critical thinking and creative thinking are both gaining increasing importance in the world today. Critical thinking allows people to understand difficult concepts in a manner that is clearer and more defined. They can more readily understand those concepts if they employ critical thinking. In all portions of everyday life, a person is expected to make independent judgments. Those judgments are based on experience and knowledge. Without the ability to think critically, every situation that a person comes across would have to be considered in isolation from all other situations. When a person encounters a problem that is a new one, he or she may be able to use critical thinking to solve those problems. One...show more content... Critical thinking also helps in decision–making. Both problem solving and decision–making abilities are vital to a prosperous business. Persons who are critical thinkers can make a difference in the companies in which they are employed. Today?s corporations must first recognize that there is a real need for critical thinkers. It is important for both the top management down the line. Critical thinking must be taught and built in to the way the company or organization performs its business. In fact, companies and organizations must embrace the concept of critical thinking. Critical thinking can lead to success story after success story. This type of impact gives any company or organization credibility. According to Supon, one of the fundamental purposes of teaching critical thinking is to enhance the abilities of students to become critical thinkers. Corporate leaders, educational researchers, employers, and parents have continually pushed teachers to assist their students in the development of critical thinking ability. Critical thinking is a skill that ?involved not only knowledge of content by also concept formation and analysis, reasoning and drawing conclusions, recognizing and avoiding contradiction, and other essential cognitive activities? • 5. Essay on the power of positive thinking "There is nothing on earth that you cannot have–once you have mentally accepted the fact that you can have it." –Robert Collier Perhaps the most important mental and spiritual principle ever discovered is that you become what you think about most of the time. Your outer world reflects your inner world. You can tell the inner condition of a person by looking at the outer conditions of his or her life. And it cannot be otherwise. Your mind is extraordinarily powerful. Your thoughts control and determine almost everything that happens to you. You are a complex bundle of thoughts, feelings, attitudes, desires, images, fears, hopes, doubts, opinions and ambitions, each of them constantly changing, sometimes from second to second. Your...show more content... You do not believe what you see, but rather you see what you already believe. The most harmful beliefs that you can have are your self–limiting beliefs. These are beliefs about you and your potential that hold you back. Most of them are not true. Most of them are the result of information you have accepted without question, often from when you were young. If you believe yourself to be limited in an area then that will become your truth. The Law of Attraction says that you invariably attract into your life the people, ideas, opportunities, and circumstances in harmony with your dominant thoughts. This law explains why it is that you don't have to be concerned where your good is going to come from. If you can keep your mind clearly focussed on what you want, and refrain from thinking about what you don't want, you will attract everything you need to achieve your goals, exactly when you are ready. Change your thinking and you change your life. Bertrand Russell, the English philosopher, once said, "The very best proof that something can be done is that others have already done it."

  • 7. Creative and Critical Thinking Essay Knowledge is generated through critical and creative thinking. Creative thinking is something new or original that is created with value. Critical thinking is a type of thinking that questions assumptions and validates or invalidates a current belief or something that is said to be previously true. Knowledge is created through the culmination of generally accepted assumptions and creativity. How do you separate general assumptions and creativity? These two types of thinking can be easily separated in regards to concrete or realistic ideas compared to abstract or original ideas however to generate new, acceptable knowledge critical and creative thinking must interact together. Knowledge must have background facts to be considered true and mathematics must use reason to justify their formulas or methods. For example, memorizing the area under a bell curve is very different from understanding how it is derived. Proofs are useful when proving mathematical concepts although they are not concrete and harder to understand. Creative aspects must be considered when trying to derive a difficult proof. Creative problem solving involving mathematics can use sense perception as a way of knowing. In these problems, real life situations allow for the organization of ideas and require that the student's attention be focused on the actual understanding of the concepts rather than the usual memorization of facts from concrete problems. For example, calculating the replanting of trees in a forest would depend on the circumstances surrounding the problems and factors would be dependant on the situation. Is creating a personal solution to the problems more effective than searching for existing solutions? In regards to mathematics, if a solution is known to exist using methods already established, there is no need to search for additional or new solutions. There are always exceptions to any case and new knowledge could form from a completely new and personal solution. This could create new knowledge using creative thinking and could also create a more efficient solution to the one previously used. Applied mathematics uses both Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Introspection Essay The dictionary describes introspection as the examination or observation of one's own mental and emotional processes. Kevin Woods stated, "Introspection are all about getting to know yourself at the core, uncovering your values and then deciding for yourself what's the best action to take." Your emotions and feelings play a major role in why we do things. If we listen to our feelings then we can find more things about us that we didn't know. This could benefit us and help us appreciate more things and live but also may make us overthink some times. Karl Perera mentioned, "Introspection is good in small doses. If you are feeling very tired or have no energy and can't find a solution as things keep rolling through your mind over and over then it is time to stop." Overall, everyone connects with things differently; it is interesting to notice how you feel in certain situations. I recently just lost a ring that was given to me a couple years ago. I was devastated and felt irresponsible. I have always wanted a Pandora Ring so this devastation led me to get one. I did a little research to figure which one I wanted on the Pandora website.
