Architectural Experience Scholarship Essay
Although I didn't realize it until my senior year of high school, I have always loved creating and interacting with architecture. My most cherished
childhood memories are building with Legos, building forts, and helping my dad with remodeling projects. Early in high school, I took a cad and
drafting class which gave me the tools to start designing my own buildings, homes, and cabins. I didn't always consider architecture as a career path,
however, now that I have gone through this program and started working in the field it is definitely the right job for me. With graduation upon me, I
plan to continue working in the field and working towards licensure via the Architectural Experience

Architecture And Design Of Architecture
Architecture
An architect plans, designs and construct structures. Architects can design many things like a shopping mall, a library, skyscrapers, and so much
more. Architecture is a very interesting career that I would like to learn more about. I will be discussing why I chose to research this career and the
different types of architects there are, the average annual salary an architect makes, what they do on a daily bases, how much education you need to
be an architect, and the pros and cons about being an architect. Not only will I be discussing these topics, but I will also research what tools an
architect uses, the best places for an architect to live at, and the top schools to get an architecture degree (Shapiro).

There are residential architecture, commercial or public architecture, industrial architecture, landscape architecture, and green architecture. Residential
architecture focuses on designing homes. A lot of the times a residential architect will work with private clients. Commercial or public architecture
focus more on public buildings like shopping malls, hospitals, airports, and other public places. Industrial architecture is more of an engineer. They
work with building bridges, dams, and other technical projects. Then there is landscape architecture, which focuses on outdoor areas. This type of
architect will design gardens, parks, lawns, and other public destinations that are outside. Last, there is green architecture. Green architecture works
with buildings that are friendly to the environment.
What an architect does on a daily basis is draw a plan for a building before constructing a building. Architects will use a lot of their creativity side of
how they want the building to look. They will make models of the building. Most of the time an architect will be talking to the clients, engineers and
contractors. When talking to clients, it will be about what they want added to the plan or what they want changed. Not only will they be talking to
their clients and contractors, but they will also be going to a lot of meetings and even talking

Essay on Architectural Engineering
There are 25 major specialties in engineering that are recognized by professional societies. In any one of those 25 specialties, the goal of the
engineer is the same. The goal is to be able to come up with a cost effective design that aids people in the tasks they face each day. Whether it be the
coffee machine in the morning or the roads and highways we travel, or even the cars we travel in, it was all an idea that started with an engineer.
Someone engineered each idea to make it the best solution to a problem. Even though engineer's goals are similar, there are many different things that
engineers do within their selected field of engineering. This paper will focus on the architectural field of engineering.
Like all engineers,...show more content...
Longer hours can also be a part of the job depending on the position. For someone at a high level in a company, longer hours might be necessary in
order to make a profit for the company.
Admissions requirements for undergraduate engineering schools include a solid background in mathematics (algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and
calculus), sciences (biology, chemistry, and physics), and courses in English, social studies, humanities, and computers. Graduate training is essential
for architectural engineering faculty positions, but is not required for the majority of entry–level architectural engineering jobs. Many engineers obtain
graduate degrees in engineering or business administration to learn new technology, broaden their education, and enhance their promotion
opportunities. Many high–level executives in government and industry began their careers as engineers.
A bachelor's degree in engineering is generally required for entry–level engineering jobs. College graduates with a degree in a physical science or
mathematics may occasionally qualify for some architectural engineering jobs.
In addition to the standard engineering degree, many colleges offer degrees in engineering technology, which are offered as either 2– or 4–year
programs. These programs prepare students for practical design and production work, rather than for jobs that require more theoretical and scientific
knowledge. Graduates of 4–year technology programs

I Want to Become an Architect
Ever since I was young, I have admired intricate buildings and structures. I have always appreciated a nice, well thought out home because I do
believe home is where the heart is. I have done lots of research on architecture, and what it takes to become an architect. I am naturally drawn to this
career because it requires lots of creativity and an eye for design. Being an architect also allows you to interact with people, which is important to me
because I am a social person. It also is a steady job and brings in a good salary.
Through research, I have learned what exactly architects do before starting projects, and while working on projects. A usual day for an architect usually
consists in two settings: the office, or sometimes the construction site where their idea is put to life. Usually in the office, they are meeting with clients,
preparing project specifications, and completing requirements and objectives for upcoming projects. They also have to know how to manage
construction contracts and create scaled drawings by hand however, preparing drawings by computer design technology is more common these days
with new advanced, efficient computer programs. The typical day in the office for an architect sounds nothing but ideal for me. One in five architects
is self–employed, which is a significant number of self–employed architects, and architects held 107,400 jobs in 2012. It would be ideal for me to be
self–employed in my future because I like to be the boss and I am very

An Architect As A Future Career
I am most interested in being an Architect as a future career. An Architect plan and design houses, factories and any other structures. This kind of
matches my career workstyles because my number one work style was investigative and this somewhat matches it because I guess this job could
involve some of that because all the new stuff you learn from it but it 's more of a creative job, which was my second highest one. It's more of a
creative job because you 're building things and drawing and you need to be very creative to do that (which I am) and you need to be creative because
this job requires a lot of thinking. When you build the models you need to think about all kinds of things like is it safe, is it built right and many more
questions you will need to constantly ask yourself. I want to be an Architect because I always wanted to design my own house. I wanted to be an
Architect for a while now. I have always liked building and designing things and just being able to see the finished process, so this is why I want
to be an Architect. An Architect helps designs houses for people or for a business. He does this by using a computer program, doing it on paper or
making a 3D model of the house. I would enjoy this job because I like to draw and use a computer and I like to help build things. This relates to my
work behavior style because I will be getting paid good and I don 't have designated hours to work on it, I would just need to have it done before a
certain time.

Students are also encouraged to take courses in computer science if such courses are available. In addition, students able to obtain a part–time job in an
architect's office can gain valuable experience ("Architecture Careers"634).
The type of person who chooses architecture as a profession tends to be highly creative, curious, and inclined to propose global solutions to problems.
On the other hand, the type of person who chooses to be an engineer is usually pragmatic, unimaginative, and inclined to compile data to find the best
solution. Architectural engineers combine both ways of thinking to learn which way of thinking should be used in certain situations on certain projects.
Architectural engineering students take courses in the theory and practice of aesthetic design, and architectural history with architecture students. They
also take courses in calculus, physics, and materials science with engineering students (Belcher 3). "The most difficult classes were those that involved
mechanical and electrical engineering because they only touched on subjects that require years to master (Cox Personal
Interview)."

Architecture Vs. Buildings Architecture Essay
Architecture vs. Buildings When I read the book Seven Lamps of Architecture, John Ruskin opened my mind to the idea that a "building does not
become architecture merely by the stability of what it erects". Architecture is more than just a mere building. "Architecture is the art which so disposes
and adorns the edifices raised by man, for whatsoever uses, that the sight of them may contribute to his mental health, power, and pleasure." (John
Ruskin) Even though all architectures is buildings not all buildings are architectural.
Many people believe that a building is just a building, but just like there is a difference between a building designer and an architect, there is a
difference between a building and an architectural feat. Take for example, the modern day skyscraper, a tall box that isolates its inhabitants. Where it is
impressive it does not constitute for architecture. Architecture is like (as Ole Scheeren puts it) a human body. Each person is different and yet we all
have the same organs. Even though different buildings must have the same functions that does not mean that they must look the same. So, there 's a
difference but why should I care? A project was created to answer the question "Why Architecture?" There they discover that, "Our conception of
reality is not a product of our individual beliefs, nor is it merely the presence of something that exists outside of us. Our conception of reality is built.
The fact that we share a similar view of reality

My Future Career : My Career As An Architect
My Future career consists of becoming an Architect. Being an architect means that one is a licensed professional who works with designing a
structure that is both attractive, safe, and functional. Dan Rice mentions that, "There are three forms of visual art: Painting is art to look at,
sculpture is art you can walk around, and architecture is art you can walk through" architects are involved in every phase of the buildings
development and construction. In order to work in the architecture field the skills required are being able to design and draw, using a methodical or
logical approach, being analytical, having excellent math skills, being able to communicate and negotiate, and have IT skills. My dream job has
always been to plan out a project and make it come to life. Being an Architect has its benefits including traveling the world to visually see the structure
of ancient buildings and how other architects are using their creative minds to manipulate the complexity of a building. Another benefit is being able
to see different types of art and gather inspiration through everything. Although becoming an architect is my passion there is a downside to the
process. One of the negative effects consist of a long training period that lasts up to 8 years or longer. Within those 8 years of training includes a
5–year bachelor degree and a 3 year internship. Another con is trying to pass all 7 (ARE) Architect Registration Exam to complete the IDP, and if you
don't pass you

Three Architecture Styles Essay
Three Architecture Styles
In this essay information will be given in order to compare and contrast data about three different styles of architecture. The three styles are Art Deco,
Art Nouveau, and Neo Gothic. In order to fully give a clear explanation of these styles, information about architecture will be given first then the three
styles will follow with comparing and contrasting points in between.
First, to inform about architecture, one must explain what it is. Architecture, referring to building is defined as "The practice of building design and its
resulting products; customary usage refers only to those designs and structures that are culturally significant" (Ferrier 20). Someone might say that
architecture must appease its...show more content...
What is Art Deco? Art Deco is a style of art that was created in hopes of finding something new, something to set things apart from one to another.
The Art Deco period began in the early 1900's and ended in the 1930's. The Art Deco name derived from the 1925 Exposition Internationale des Arts
Decoratifs et Industriels Modernes, an exposition of modern decorative and industrial arts held in Paris, France (Hewitt). Art Deco designers used
stepped forms, rounded corners, triple–striped decorative elements and black decoration often. The most important thing about Art Deco is the designs
created were always in geometrical order and in simple formats. A good example of an Art Deco Style would be the Empire State Building. The
building was completed in 1931–32 and ended the era of Art Deco Skyscrapers. Art Deco is all about machines, mass–production, metal and concrete
(Hewitt).
Like Art Nouveau, Art Deco exploded with people's interests. In fact the earliest forms of Art Deco exhibited a slight reminder of the previous Art
Nouveau movement's graceful nature motifs, while in later years geometry and mass take over to concrete what is sometimes referred to as Art
Moderne or Streamline (Jacobs 5). Art Nouveau being characterized

My Favorite Style Of Architecture
I was inspired by the ongoing careful restoration of my own home to pursue a career in architecture. My favourite style of architecture is currently one
which focuses on preserving traditional heritage, as opposed to the monolithic tower blocks, generic cladding, excessive glass, and general "modernist"
architecture. I feel that architecture should have a distinctive style that resembles the country's architecture and is sympathetic to the environment and
setting. I can also appreciate contemporary modern architecture when used sensitively and can shine in its own right.
I have had work experience with Blair Gratton (traditional), Frank Shaws and Associates (corporate architecture), Duffield Property Services and TPL
Merrigan design and planning (landscaping).
I have also studied case studies on engineering and structural design, including vortex shedding, mass dampers, and The Hyatt Regency Collapse, which
has given me an insight into proper engineering as an integral part of the architecture.
While I think I have had a good grounding in a variety of styles and have an understanding of architecture, I am drawn in pursuing a greater
understanding of architecture.
I mainly want to focus on an architecture utilising natural ventilation and light sources, with a more ecological design. This was inspired from my
experiences abroad where I noted the huge number of buildings utilising air conditioning units which sap energy, and contrasted this with the traditional
buildings

Speech About Becoming An Architect
Architecture is the blueprint in creating a world, it consists of creativity and many brilliant people to help create our homes, communities, and cities.
Architecture is very unique because it allows humans to create what they want for their economy. Generations of humans have all contributed in
building the world as we know it. Through architecture, there are architects. Architects are known as people people who organizes space. They design
copious amounts of different structures. They design houses and small buildings and sometimes even a city's whole skyline. There are various
structures, as a result, there are different branches of architectures. In the field of architecture; the branches of it includes residential architect,

Getting your bachelor's degree usually takes four years, but a lot of people spend at least five years in order to get their bachelor's degree.
Secondly, to become an architect, everyone has to apply for a paid internship. A paid internship will allow you to gain knowledge and experience.
Internships are very important and hold a lot of gravity on your way to becoming an architect. You will learn a lot of valuable knowledge and will
prepare you when you are an licensed architect. Finally, the last step you must take in becoming an architect is by passing your architecture exam. By
passing the exam, you officially become a licensed architect. The exam is split into seven sections and the average of students completing all seven
sections, took an average of 33.5 hours. The passing rate of all seven sections of the exam is sixty–seven percent. The seven sections are: the
construction documents and services(CDS), programming , planning, and practice (PPP), site planning and design(SPD),schematics design, structural
systems, building systems, and building design with construction

unfriendly community members. Same thing applies for architecture, you can find the type of architecture in France Gothic yet flowery and bright

a certain extent with the same climatic and geographic conditions, yet the treatments and the approaches of the architecture in each country is different

colorful, small scaled, and rich with details and ornaments type of architecture

Even though there was not a lot of detailed information about architectural engineering online, I still managed to find some very useful sources. At
Academic One File, I found a journal called "Architectural engineering as a profession: report on research leading to a curriculum revision." In this
source, university researchers Josifas Paranosis, and Andrej Jodko, did some research on architectural engineering because they want to develop a
better curriculum for architectural engineering university programs. I used a lot of information from this journal to support my arguments because it
is a very credible source. Another useful source I found is an article at sei.cmu.edu by Mario Barbacci, who is a Carnegie Mellon University Ph.D.
student in computer science. In this source I found a lot of information on the history of architectural engineering, and what the function of an
architectural engineer is. Another source I really liked and could really apply to my research is "Architectural Engineering: A Marriage of Art and
Science," at the Nevada Business Magazine site. In this article various architects and engineers are interviewed for different viewpoints. The
interviewees explain architectural engineering in detail, which makes it easier for the reader to understand. It is also one of the few articles that focus
specifically on architectural engineering. To get a clear concept of what architectural engineers do in order to keep the

engineers are trained only in the technical field, but architectural engineers are trained both in the architectural, and in the technical field. Therefore,
they can apply engineering principles, but still appreciate the aesthetic concept of buildings. By applying knowledge of both fields in their projects,
they create a balance. According to Jeff Codega, president/ CEO of Jeff Codega Planning/Design, "it is important in our man–made environments to

Working in the building industry is a big responsibility that requires a lot of accuracy and detail. Since architectural engineering is a multidiscipline
professional, architectural engineers have the authority to be the leader of the project's team. Architectural engineering, as Johnson points out in the
article "Are Software Architects like Building Architects?" is a combination of structural engineering andarchitecture. Therefore, when designing a
building's engineering system "[architectural engineers] are expected to be familiar with not only that system, but also with the multiple architectural
considerations which may affect its design, installation, and operation" ("Architectural Engineering"). Because of this broad knowledge, architectural
engineers are able to lead the team on the right path, and help avoid unnecessary mistakes that might affect the building's construction in serious ways.
They are able to advise on complex problems within projects, and offer suggestions for resolving them to avoid stagnations. For example, they can
advise on areas that need improvement, and manage to develop constructions in the most cost–effective way. In the construction industry, "an
[architectural engineering] professional, both an architect and engineer, is obliged to act as the leader of a project team due to the greatest possessed
knowledge necessary to perceive and produce architectural and engineering designs" (Paranosis and

Some of the Aspects of Architecture Essay
The subject of architecture is sometimes thought to be boring. Many building that we see are simple in structure and design. There is nothing
particularly special about the way a simple house or government building looks. In fact many of us may believe that anybody could be an architect. We
are ignorant to the rich history of architecture. We are also largely unaware of the amount of education, planning, or intelligence needed to be an
architect or design a building. Many also do not take into account that architects are not only responsible for simple structures, such as houses and
libraries, but also excessive structures, such as the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Eiffel Tower, and theSydney Opera House. These, and many other

With a ruler and a pencil it would be possible for anybody to draw a rectangle or a square, divide it into rooms, and call it a shelter. According to
Roger K. Lewis, author of "Architect?: A Candid Guide to the Profession", "Architecture is not as simple as having a ruler or a pencil; many
individuals who aspire to be architects begin preparation as soon as high school with drafting classes (56)." Students learn everything from the scale
of cities to the scale of all sizes of furniture in relation to different sizes of buildings. They also begin to learn the basics of drafting building designs.
Throughout college, students are also expected to take a full course load, as they would with any other profession. Classes teach students how to
implement critical thinking, logistics, and combine it with creativity (59). Students will also learn how to let the building site influence their design
choices, structural and environmental integrity, spatial composition, structural sustainability, and much more. There are many standard building codes
that architects must also be aware of before they begin designing, as well. Most small details, such as ventilation, adequate fire exits, and floor space
are not aspects that are of any concern to the common individual, but these are features an architect will spend up to four years learning and perfecting
in school (62). After an architect gains an education and understands the basic concepts of building codes, as well as

Essay on Greek Architecture
Greek Architecture
The Greek culture has had a huge impact on the history of the world. There is something Greek in almost everything, especially in the world's
architecture. Greece no longer had one king, so they focused on building temples for their gods. Architecture began small and plain but evolved into
impressive pieces of art. As time passed from the Archaic period to theHellenistic period, the people of Greece developed a type of formula for their
buildings and their pieces of art.
In Ancient Greece, religion dominated their life, so it is understandable that their architecture would be dominated by their religion. Before Greece

The frieze is broken up into triglyphs and metopes. A triglyph are a series of sculpted vertical lines, and a metope is a plain area. The architrave is one

An Ionic temple is considered to be feminine. The Ionic temple is very different to the Doric. An Ionic column is very sleek and slender. Just like the
Doric column, the Ionic column is proportioned to its diameter. The height of an Ionic column is nine to ten times the diameter. The column has a
base and the capital is more decorative with the use of scroll volutes. The fluting is very much like the Doric except there is a flat area in between
every hallowed out semi–circle. The entablature of an Ionic temple has a lot more decoration. The cornice and the frieze with both have some sort of
ornament or sculpture. The architrave is broken up into three or four pieces.
The Corinthian order is not used much in Ancient Greece. The Corinthian column is much like the Ionic but the capital is decorated with acanthus
leaves. The Corinthian column is used mostly on the interior and becomes widely used in Ancient Rome.
A Greek temple can be classified in three

Architectural Experience Scholarship Essay

  • 1. Architectural Experience Scholarship Essay Although I didn't realize it until my senior year of high school, I have always loved creating and interacting with architecture. My most cherished childhood memories are building with Legos, building forts, and helping my dad with remodeling projects. Early in high school, I took a cad and drafting class which gave me the tools to start designing my own buildings, homes, and cabins. I didn't always consider architecture as a career path, however, now that I have gone through this program and started working in the field it is definitely the right job for me. With graduation upon me, I plan to continue working in the field and working towards licensure via the Architectural Experience Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Architecture And Design Of Architecture Architecture An architect plans, designs and construct structures. Architects can design many things like a shopping mall, a library, skyscrapers, and so much more. Architecture is a very interesting career that I would like to learn more about. I will be discussing why I chose to research this career and the different types of architects there are, the average annual salary an architect makes, what they do on a daily bases, how much education you need to be an architect, and the pros and cons about being an architect. Not only will I be discussing these topics, but I will also research what tools an architect uses, the best places for an architect to live at, and the top schools to get an architecture degree (Shapiro). Architecture...show more content... There are residential architecture, commercial or public architecture, industrial architecture, landscape architecture, and green architecture. Residential architecture focuses on designing homes. A lot of the times a residential architect will work with private clients. Commercial or public architecture focus more on public buildings like shopping malls, hospitals, airports, and other public places. Industrial architecture is more of an engineer. They work with building bridges, dams, and other technical projects. Then there is landscape architecture, which focuses on outdoor areas. This type of architect will design gardens, parks, lawns, and other public destinations that are outside. Last, there is green architecture. Green architecture works with buildings that are friendly to the environment. What an architect does on a daily basis is draw a plan for a building before constructing a building. Architects will use a lot of their creativity side of how they want the building to look. They will make models of the building. Most of the time an architect will be talking to the clients, engineers and contractors. When talking to clients, it will be about what they want added to the plan or what they want changed. Not only will they be talking to their clients and contractors, but they will also be going to a lot of meetings and even talking Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Essay on Architectural Engineering There are 25 major specialties in engineering that are recognized by professional societies. In any one of those 25 specialties, the goal of the engineer is the same. The goal is to be able to come up with a cost effective design that aids people in the tasks they face each day. Whether it be the coffee machine in the morning or the roads and highways we travel, or even the cars we travel in, it was all an idea that started with an engineer. Someone engineered each idea to make it the best solution to a problem. Even though engineer's goals are similar, there are many different things that engineers do within their selected field of engineering. This paper will focus on the architectural field of engineering. Like all engineers,...show more content... Longer hours can also be a part of the job depending on the position. For someone at a high level in a company, longer hours might be necessary in order to make a profit for the company. Admissions requirements for undergraduate engineering schools include a solid background in mathematics (algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and calculus), sciences (biology, chemistry, and physics), and courses in English, social studies, humanities, and computers. Graduate training is essential for architectural engineering faculty positions, but is not required for the majority of entry–level architectural engineering jobs. Many engineers obtain graduate degrees in engineering or business administration to learn new technology, broaden their education, and enhance their promotion opportunities. Many high–level executives in government and industry began their careers as engineers. A bachelor's degree in engineering is generally required for entry–level engineering jobs. College graduates with a degree in a physical science or mathematics may occasionally qualify for some architectural engineering jobs. In addition to the standard engineering degree, many colleges offer degrees in engineering technology, which are offered as either 2– or 4–year programs. These programs prepare students for practical design and production work, rather than for jobs that require more theoretical and scientific knowledge. Graduates of 4–year technology programs Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. I Want to Become an Architect Ever since I was young, I have admired intricate buildings and structures. I have always appreciated a nice, well thought out home because I do believe home is where the heart is. I have done lots of research on architecture, and what it takes to become an architect. I am naturally drawn to this career because it requires lots of creativity and an eye for design. Being an architect also allows you to interact with people, which is important to me because I am a social person. It also is a steady job and brings in a good salary. Through research, I have learned what exactly architects do before starting projects, and while working on projects. A usual day for an architect usually consists in two settings: the office, or sometimes the construction site where their idea is put to life. Usually in the office, they are meeting with clients, preparing project specifications, and completing requirements and objectives for upcoming projects. They also have to know how to manage construction contracts and create scaled drawings by hand however, preparing drawings by computer design technology is more common these days with new advanced, efficient computer programs. The typical day in the office for an architect sounds nothing but ideal for me. One in five architects is self–employed, which is a significant number of self–employed architects, and architects held 107,400 jobs in 2012. It would be ideal for me to be self–employed in my future because I like to be the boss and I am very Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. An Architect As A Future Career I am most interested in being an Architect as a future career. An Architect plan and design houses, factories and any other structures. This kind of matches my career workstyles because my number one work style was investigative and this somewhat matches it because I guess this job could involve some of that because all the new stuff you learn from it but it 's more of a creative job, which was my second highest one. It's more of a creative job because you 're building things and drawing and you need to be very creative to do that (which I am) and you need to be creative because this job requires a lot of thinking. When you build the models you need to think about all kinds of things like is it safe, is it built right and many more questions you will need to constantly ask yourself. I want to be an Architect because I always wanted to design my own house. I wanted to be an Architect for a while now. I have always liked building and designing things and just being able to see the finished process, so this is why I want to be an Architect. An Architect helps designs houses for people or for a business. He does this by using a computer program, doing it on paper or making a 3D model of the house. I would enjoy this job because I like to draw and use a computer and I like to help build things. This relates to my work behavior style because I will be getting paid good and I don 't have designated hours to work on it, I would just need to have it done before a certain time. They also take courses in calculus, physics, and materials science with engineering students (Belcher 3). • 8. Architecture Vs. Buildings Architecture Essay Architecture vs. Buildings When I read the book Seven Lamps of Architecture, John Ruskin opened my mind to the idea that a "building does not become architecture merely by the stability of what it erects". Architecture is more than just a mere building. "Architecture is the art which so disposes and adorns the edifices raised by man, for whatsoever uses, that the sight of them may contribute to his mental health, power, and pleasure." (John Ruskin) Even though all architectures is buildings not all buildings are architectural. Many people believe that a building is just a building, but just like there is a difference between a building designer and an architect, there is a difference between a building and an architectural feat. Take for example, the modern day skyscraper, a tall box that isolates its inhabitants. Where it is impressive it does not constitute for architecture. Architecture is like (as Ole Scheeren puts it) a human body. Each person is different and yet we all have the same organs. Even though different buildings must have the same functions that does not mean that they must look the same. So, there 's a difference but why should I care? A project was created to answer the question "Why Architecture?" There they discover that, "Our conception of reality is not a product of our individual beliefs, nor is it merely the presence of something that exists outside of us. Our conception of reality is built. The fact that we share a similar view of reality Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. My Future Career : My Career As An Architect My Future career consists of becoming an Architect. Being an architect means that one is a licensed professional who works with designing a structure that is both attractive, safe, and functional. Dan Rice mentions that, "There are three forms of visual art: Painting is art to look at, sculpture is art you can walk around, and architecture is art you can walk through" architects are involved in every phase of the buildings development and construction. In order to work in the architecture field the skills required are being able to design and draw, using a methodical or logical approach, being analytical, having excellent math skills, being able to communicate and negotiate, and have IT skills. My dream job has always been to plan out a project and make it come to life. Being an Architect has its benefits including traveling the world to visually see the structure of ancient buildings and how other architects are using their creative minds to manipulate the complexity of a building. Another benefit is being able to see different types of art and gather inspiration through everything. Although becoming an architect is my passion there is a downside to the process. One of the negative effects consist of a long training period that lasts up to 8 years or longer. Within those 8 years of training includes a 5–year bachelor degree and a 3 year internship. Another con is trying to pass all 7 (ARE) Architect Registration Exam to complete the IDP, and if you don't pass you Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Three Architecture Styles Essay Three Architecture Styles In this essay information will be given in order to compare and contrast data about three different styles of architecture. The three styles are Art Deco, Art Nouveau, and Neo Gothic. In order to fully give a clear explanation of these styles, information about architecture will be given first then the three styles will follow with comparing and contrasting points in between. First, to inform about architecture, one must explain what it is. Architecture, referring to building is defined as "The practice of building design and its resulting products; customary usage refers only to those designs and structures that are culturally significant" (Ferrier 20). Someone might say that architecture must appease its...show more content... What is Art Deco? Art Deco is a style of art that was created in hopes of finding something new, something to set things apart from one to another. The Art Deco period began in the early 1900's and ended in the 1930's. The Art Deco name derived from the 1925 Exposition Internationale des Arts Decoratifs et Industriels Modernes, an exposition of modern decorative and industrial arts held in Paris, France (Hewitt). Art Deco designers used stepped forms, rounded corners, triple–striped decorative elements and black decoration often. The most important thing about Art Deco is the designs created were always in geometrical order and in simple formats. A good example of an Art Deco Style would be the Empire State Building. The building was completed in 1931–32 and ended the era of Art Deco Skyscrapers. Art Deco is all about machines, mass–production, metal and concrete (Hewitt). Like Art Nouveau, Art Deco exploded with people's interests. In fact the earliest forms of Art Deco exhibited a slight reminder of the previous Art Nouveau movement's graceful nature motifs, while in later years geometry and mass take over to concrete what is sometimes referred to as Art Moderne or Streamline (Jacobs 5). • 11. My Favorite Style Of Architecture I was inspired by the ongoing careful restoration of my own home to pursue a career in architecture. My favourite style of architecture is currently one which focuses on preserving traditional heritage, as opposed to the monolithic tower blocks, generic cladding, excessive glass, and general "modernist" architecture. I feel that architecture should have a distinctive style that resembles the country's architecture and is sympathetic to the environment and setting. I can also appreciate contemporary modern architecture when used sensitively and can shine in its own right. I have had work experience with Blair Gratton (traditional), Frank Shaws and Associates (corporate architecture), Duffield Property Services and TPL Merrigan design and planning (landscaping). I have also studied case studies on engineering and structural design, including vortex shedding, mass dampers, and The Hyatt Regency Collapse, which has given me an insight into proper engineering as an integral part of the architecture. While I think I have had a good grounding in a variety of styles and have an understanding of architecture, I am drawn in pursuing a greater understanding of architecture. I mainly want to focus on an architecture utilising natural ventilation and light sources, with a more ecological design. This was inspired from my experiences abroad where I noted the huge number of buildings utilising air conditioning units which sap energy, and contrasted this with the traditional buildings Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Architecture is very unique because it allows humans to create what they want for their economy. Generations of humans have all contributed in building the world as we know it. Through architecture, there are architects. Architects are known as people people who organizes space. They design copious amounts of different structures. They design houses and small buildings and sometimes even a city's whole skyline. There are various structures, as a result, there are different branches of architectures. This essay investigates the language of architecture in an individual case such as a single structure and its architectural elements and interpretations, and in a cross–cultural scale around the world. Language is a way of communication by combining a set of words and letters to present, express or transmit an idea, opinion or a fact. Same thing applies for architecture, you can find the type of architecture in France Gothic yet flowery and bright (figure.1), while the dominant architecture style in Germany is dull Gothic and dark style (figure.2). Furthermore, in the Arab world they all speak one language yet they have so many dialects, and that reflected on the type of architecture that they had. In fact, the architecture of the Arab world deals to a certain extent with the same climatic and geographic conditions, yet the treatments and the approaches of the architecture in each country is different and unique. Foe example, the GCCs mainly have that type of dull, rigid, huge scaled, and colorless architecture due to their influence from the deserts and the harsh lifestyle(figure.3). Like all other engineers, architectural engineers use logic and creativity to solve problems. They come up with effective designs to assist people in their everyday tasks. In our daily lives we are surrounded by buildings. Places that were once a dessert are turned into cities that now hold amazing buildings. Houses, schools, shopping centers, offices, apartments, airports, etc. are very essential in our society. These buildings do not only please the eye, but they also provide us with shelter and are made to withstand hurricanes, earthquakes, snow storms, and strong winds. Even though there was not a lot of detailed information about architectural engineering online, I still managed to find some very useful sources. At Academic One File, I found a journal called "Architectural engineering as a profession: report on research leading to a curriculum revision." In this source, university researchers Josifas Paranosis, and Andrej Jodko, did some research on architectural engineering because they want to develop a better curriculum for architectural engineering university programs. I used a lot of information from this journal to support my arguments because it is a very credible source. Another useful source I found is an article at sei.cmu.edu by Mario Barbacci, who is a Carnegie Mellon University Ph.D. student in computer science. In this source I found a lot of information on the history of architectural engineering, and what the function of an architectural engineer is. Another source I really liked and could really apply to my research is "Architectural Engineering: A Marriage of Art and Science," at the Nevada Business Magazine site. In this article various architects and engineers are interviewed for different viewpoints. The interviewees explain architectural engineering in detail, which makes it easier for the reader to understand. It is also one of the few articles that focus specifically on architectural engineering. Most engineers are trained only in the technical field, but architectural engineers are trained both in the architectural, and in the technical field. Therefore, they can apply engineering principles, but still appreciate the aesthetic concept of buildings. By applying knowledge of both fields in their projects, they create a balance. Working in the building industry is a big responsibility that requires a lot of accuracy and detail. Since architectural engineering is a multidiscipline professional, architectural engineers have the authority to be the leader of the project's team. Architectural engineering, as Johnson points out in the article "Are Software Architects like Building Architects?" is a combination of structural engineering andarchitecture. Therefore, when designing a building's engineering system "[architectural engineers] are expected to be familiar with not only that system, but also with the multiple architectural considerations which may affect its design, installation, and operation" ("Architectural Engineering"). Because of this broad knowledge, architectural engineers are able to lead the team on the right path, and help avoid unnecessary mistakes that might affect the building's construction in serious ways. They are able to advise on complex problems within projects, and offer suggestions for resolving them to avoid stagnations. For example, they can advise on areas that need improvement, and manage to develop constructions in the most cost–effective way. In the construction industry, "an [architectural engineering] professional, both an architect and engineer, is obliged to act as the leader of a project team due to the greatest possessed knowledge necessary to perceive and produce architectural and engineering designs" (Paranosis and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. Some of the Aspects of Architecture Essay The subject of architecture is sometimes thought to be boring. Many building that we see are simple in structure and design. There is nothing particularly special about the way a simple house or government building looks. In fact many of us may believe that anybody could be an architect.
