2. Complex Assemblies
While working at Lucra I developed vehicles that consisted of thousands of
parts.
Each part I personally reviewed and approved before its use in our vehicles
and builds.
The 2016 Batmobile was one of my projects. This project was approached in
the same manor we developed Lucra’s LC470 and L148.
I designed the chassis from scratch, to fit in to the Art Director’s vision. This
included the suspension engineering, individual part design and construction
Designing all the functioning parts using existing components and designing
custom made components (switches, housing, control arms, trailing arms,
knuckles and gear boxes). We bought the machinery needed to create our
custom components in house, including a CNC mill and plasma table, with
which we made the majority of the vehicle and its parts our selves.
Engineering and designing parts that we 3D printed.
Designing and documenting parts that we waterjet and laser cut. This
involved creating the correct file type, drawings and applicable secondary
process instructions.
Inspecting all third party manufactured products before use.
Developing componentry for specific applications, like a gearbox for the
Batmobile. I created documentation suitable for a third party company who
specializes in power transfer to produce it. We then used that component in
the vehicle. The company that fabricated the gear box was never made
aware of the application of the custom transfer cases application.
Keeping work confidential. I completed the Batmobile over 3 years ago and
have not spoken of my involvement or details until its release to the public
late last year.
3. Plastics
Working at Lucra and Falmat I developed
injection molded and over molded parts
for in house products as well as
individuals and large companies.
The design of each part was carefully
thought out to meet form and function.
Some molds were modular in order to
accommodate different size cables.
I designed the parts as well as the molds.
I had the prototypes 3D printed in house
for design review meetings before moving
to tooling design and then manufacturing.
I designed the tools with shrinkage taken
in to account, depending on what
materials we were using.
4. Mechanical
I have developed many mechanical
assemblies for machines, as well as the
individual parts in those assemblies.
Producing the parts my self with in house
machinery using CNC mills, 3D printers and
composite materials.
Flow tested parts for fluid transfer as well
as aerodynamic properties.
Steel, aluminum, plastics, composites,
paper products and proprietary liquids and
solids.
Using parts from third party suppliers in
order to create functioning machinery .
Choosing third party vendors and parts
suppliers my self, after testing their
products for compatibility, quality and
price.
5. Documentation
I have developed documentation for parts and
assemblies in many forms.
Bill Of Materials Drawings and Spreadsheets
Cut lists.
Drawings for laser, water jet, plasma and CNC.
Video flythrough for presentations.
Exploded view drawings.
Section view drawings.
Technical drawings for construction and or
assemblies.
