Objective To work closely with patients and clinical staff in the rewarding
profession of a Certified Nursing Assistant.
Skills Observe, record, and report all changes in patient’s physical or mental
conditions.
Interpret and communicate any hospital routines and procedures to
patients and family members as needed.
Instruct and assist the patient on their role in procedures with comfort and
kindness.
I interact therapeutically with patients, family members, and professional
and supportive personnel for varying backgrounds with a positive line of
communication and first impressions.
I value to be aware and take time to recognize respond and react to
emergency situations and assisting the nurse with any emergent needs.
I have held a CPR and AED certificate since 1998.
Notify the staff immediately when a patient, family or other staff is in
need of assistance so the situation may be tended to in a timely manner.
Feeding, bathing, and turning patients are crucial to a successful recovery.
In some situations the patient may need immediate follow up treatment
when the dose is complete, it is necessary to monitor intravenous fluids for
the nurse.
Using aseptic technique every patient every time.
Giving range of motion exercises is important to the patient ability to
recover and continue on to a normal status. It reduces the process of
contraction of muscle tissue.
Taking and recording vital signs as ordered in necessary for proper
medication and treatment. It can also help predict a patient’s condition and
help prevent an emergency.
Dressing and transferring patient with safety in mind is a must. If a patient
has a broken or bruised limb the clothing will need to be carefully put onto
that limb first. Transferring a patient with the correct procedures and using
safe equipment is necessary. Using Hoyer lifts, wheelchairs and shower
benches and chairs. Proper body mechanics are also important when
transferring a patient, both for the staff and patient. I have had some
outpatient training for the caregiver at the Craig Hospital in the care for
spinal cord patients.
