The document appears to be a presentation by four students - Bianca Shi, Emelina Berkshire, Ong Wan-Jun, and Rita Tekle - providing recommendations for the Atlantic Street Center. It includes sections on introduction, strategy, research, recommendations, and conclusion. The recommendations focus on increasing role clarity, employee motivation, internal communication, web traffic, and funding resources through tactics like updating job descriptions, developing a professional development plan, implementing an internal collaboration platform and newsletters, re-evaluating SEO strategy, diversifying funding sources, and more.
Atlantic Street Center is one of just a few non-profits organizations that serves individuals at every stage in life from toddlers to grandparents. Founded in 1910, ASC has been serving the Seattle Area for over 100 years. Based in Seattle’s central district, ASC directs their resources towards low-income children and youth in Seattle’s central and southeast neighborhoods

Thanks Rita. So I’m going to talk a little bit about Atlantic Street Center’s business strategy, and then move on to our project research. So we see ASC’s strategy as two-fold.
First off, ASC utilizes a niche market strategy. They primarily serve low-income African Americans and other families of color in central and south Seattle. This differentiates them from say, Horn of Africa services, which targets East Efrain immigrants. Catering services to this niche allows ASC to obtain funding and succeed as a business.
The second part of ASC’s strategy is cost containment. In order to succeed as a business and offer a high quality and quantity of services, ASC seeks to cut down on their costs as much as possible.
We think ASC’s overall strategy of niche marketing and cost containment is working. We can tell because the demand for ASC’s service is much greater than the services they can supply. We see their business strategy as one of their largest strengths. What they’re doing is working for them. Another thing the age of ASC serves as a strength because it means that the programs they offer are uniquely tailored to their target market.
When the economy is bad, social service programs get cut. The 85$ billion in mandatory across-board federal budget cuts started on Friday, and this will cause many governmental agencies to deny aid to eligible families. For example, King County already stopped issuing new housing vouchers on Friday. When the recession had hit the hardest in 2008, Atlantic Street Center had to cut back on services and let some employees go even though the demand for services was increasing. They were with out a Human Resources person for over three years, and only recently were able to hire one. During this time ASC employees had to stretch themselves thin in order to to keep up with everything.
In order to find solutions for the problem, we needed to do some research.
We conducted one-on-one interviews with managers. Two students attended, one took notes, one asked questions. Used predetermined questions, will include in final report. All employee survey to gather communication data.
