On Detail to Web Engagement Group (WE), International Information Programs (IIP) 2011-2013
Responsible for creating the WE groups’ organizational structure and social media strategy that resulted in an established
following of over 5 million internet users in seven languages within two years of launch.
• Established the project design including platforms, languages, themes and staff to achieve WE’s mission of
conducting Public Diplomacy (PD) in the digital sphere in a Government to People format
• Conducted country specific social media trend analysis as component of a conflict analysis, identifying escalating and
dominant narratives. Assisted in developing and implementing a conflict resolution strategy utilizing social media
platforms
• Established a thematic counter narrative strategy to defuse conflict escalation in volatile hotspots such as Egypt
during and in the aftermath of the embassy breach and during Libya’s revolution
• Developed and trained community managers on intercultural communications and effective messaging.
• Expanded multimedia layer of the WE’s PD outreach to include photos and videos
• Created online communities around personas and thematic expertise inline with PD’s mission to connect with the
multitude of potential audience.
• Positioned PD platforms to fulfill a need shared by subgroups of targeted audiences; two-way discussion format vs.
one way informational messaging.
Senior International Producer, Visual Diplomacy, IIP 2010-2011
As a member of the unit’s executive core, was responsible for transforming the video team to a Public Diplomacy video
production unit, delivering visual products with the urgency of a news operation and the quality of Video Production
House. Transformed the operation from a slow moving traditional media culture to a fast paced dynamic operation
where video creators are empowered to be creative and bold producing social media video bursts, and mini and full-
length documentaries for the purpose of engaging the youth in target populations.
• Launched and facilitated the White House’s strategy to educate and engage youth engaged in the Arab Spring on
democracy, civil society and human rights. Produced White House video responses, writing op-eds on behalf of the
State Department and by fielding online questions.
• Redesigned the project to cater to target audiences’ fast paced social media based viewing habits, with emphasis on
intriguing story telling for optimum viral effect
• Managed producers, editors and supporting staff, and trained staff on target audience’ cultural and historical visual
cues
• Established collaborative relations with media organizations, including such National Geographic and the Associated
Press by which expending messaging resources and
• Trained interagency task force members in intercultural communication to enhance understating of common

Senior Policy Analyst, Digital Outreach Team, Bureau of International Information Programs 2006-2010
Alongside a Foreign Service Officer developed a successful outreach strategy for the “Digital Outreach Team”(DOT) as
part of the U.S Department of State’s Counterterrorism Communication Center to engage Arabic cyberspace in an
ongoing dialogue focused on America’s policy toward the Middle East. Was able to successfully engage the Arab public
in an ongoing vigorous, and sometimes contentious dialogue grounded in mutual respect and trust based on conflict
analysis and resolution methods and principles in an effort to educate and counter violent extremist messaging.
• Analyzed and managed the DOT’s cyberspace and outreach strategy.
• Analyzed narrative trends in DOT’s primary target countries; i.e. Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Lebanon and Morocco for the
purpose of establishing a baseline for social media engagement.
• Produced President Obama's Forum with Young African Leaders and coordinated the resulting social media
campaign from Washington DC.
• Created original poetry and video segments used by the USG for public diplomacy outreach for message
effectiveness by resonating with younger as well as traditional culturally minded audiences
• Produced travel documentary on the life of Kahlil Gibran, “Tracing the Footsteps of Gibran"
• Attended the 2007 Annapolis peace talks hosted by President Bush, and created an op-ed series complemented by
hour-by-hour blog updates on the day of the conference.
• Wrote op-eds on behalf of the U.S. Department of State on pressing issues regarding the middle East, including the
Iraq and Afghan wars, U.S. operations in Pakistan and Yemen, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, human rights,
