1. Mohammad Al-Shami
BIO
Mohammad Al-Shami; Yemeni youth activists and freelance trainer, used to work with
international organizations like Saferworld and USAID program. He also founded youth
organization/movements like Resonate Yemen, Life Makers Foundation, Yalla Shabab and Youth
Media. Since 2010, he has focused on empowering youth to play an active role in Yemen reform
policies. He established the largest youth advocacy group that tackles public policy issues and
organize many activities like workshops, debates, advocacy campaigns and meetings with
national/international policymakers from Sana'a to Berlin and Brussels. over the last four years,
he trained over 200 young activists from across the country, organized more than 10 advocacy
campaigns, conduct more than 6 debates where some of them been broadcasts alive in
national/international TV channels and produce two documentaries regarding the youth
projects he worked on
EXPERIENCE
Leader of Democracy fellow (USA) 23/3/2015 – present
• Studied an intensive seminars and workshops in leadership, public speaking and debate,
communication and negotiation and conflict resolution at Maxwell School of Citizenship
and Public Affairs – Syracuse University in Syracuse – New York.
• Internship with Wilson Center -International Center for Scholars-. My research was about
the role of the civil society during conflict and ended up with a public talk and now in the
process of writing a Viewpoints publication regarding the same topic.

• Managing “Amplifying Youth voices program” a project to Empower young women and
men to effectively advocate decision-makers and international actors for inclusive
transitional and political processes in Yemen
• Coordinating “Communities making peace” a project to Improve the conditions for
reconstruction and development in Taiz by increasing public safety and security through
more active, informed and inclusive community response and more effective and
accountable state institutions, and by ensuring that national and international
development actors incorporate conflict-and gender-sensitive approaches into their
policy and practice
