1. DEFINITION OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
Sustainable development can be defined as
development that meets the needs of present
generations without compromising the ability
of future generations to meet their own
needs.
Sustainable development aims at making
use of natural resources and the
environment for improving the standard of
people in such a way that the ability of future
generations to meet their own needs is not
minimized.

everyone.
To ensure sustainable and affordable energy
is available to everyone.
Elimination of poverty across the world.
Ensure good health and well being.
Provision for clear water and sanitation.

Allowing access to economical and clean
energy
Building up strong infrastructure, Supporting
Inclusive and Sustainable Industrialization
and encouraging innovation
4. ADVANTAGES OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

pollution.
Helps in achieving long-term economic growth.
Guarantee of a better future.
5. LIMITATIONS OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
Developing countries often don’t have the financial
resources to plan and implement sustainable
projects.
War-torn or famine-stricken countries may be forced
to face other priorities first, even if the lack of
sustainable development may have contributed to
those circumstances in the first place.
Many unstable governments are unwilling to manage
or incapable of managing the tension between ready
profit and the long-term costs of shifting toward
sustainable development, even when those long-term
investments might pay off in the future.
6. EXAMPLES OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
Hydro energy as used in turbines.
Wind energy is often employed in wind mills.
Solar energy is finding wider implementation
with innovations in solar cells and allied
technologies.
Efficient and recycled use of water.Green
architecture and other sustainable
constructions.
Crop rotation and similar agricultural methods.
Maintenance and growth of sustainable green
spaces.
7. CONCLUSION:
Sustainable development refers to the human
development model in which the resources that
are presently used preserve the environment so
that these needs can be met not only in the
present but also for future generations.
