2. Women's clothing
Old set of Karelian women's clothing
consisted of a shirt, a sarafan and
headgear. The oldest form –of the
dress was made of nankeen,
canvas or sometimes wool usually
painted blue. In the second half of
the XVIII century old women wore
sarafans with green and blue false
sleeves. The shirt and dress were
girdled with a belt.
3. Men's clothing.
The ancient national clothes
of Karel - men were : a shirt,
pants, a belt and shoes. The
shirt was very long, it came
down below the knees. The
shirt was girdled with a
woven belt or waistband.
Men wore shoes made of
linen or belt or leather shoes.
